GLOOM
Been too lazy to post any of my records recently so have this pic of me and go listen to more dbeat and noise
An Albatross
3. Sleep - Vol 2 (1992)
Between Vol One and Holy Mountain sleep recorded a few songs at Razors Edge Studios which ended up released as an official bootleg. It starts off with a cover of Lord of This World which is just pure evil and beauty. It then goes into original versions of Nains Babtism and The Druid that in my opinion feels so much more agressive than the versions on Holy Mountain. (fun fact if you spin Nains Babtism at 45 it sounds like crash bandicoot)
Unfortunately my version isn’t the official bootleg, it’s a single sided bootleg of a bootleg pressed in 2023 with pot leaves screen printed all over it. It may not be the original but it’s still sick to own considering how sought after these records are.

I really don’t have much else to say about them it’s fucking Sleep, they’re one of the greatest stoner metal bands to ever exist. If you haven’t listened to Vol 2 go pull it up right now.

5. Diskonto - Destroy! Rebuild! (1996)
Despite being formed to make fun of the 90s swedish disrock scene, they wound up being one of the best of their time. Absolutely raw band full of violence and aggression. Everything you want from some good ol swedish dbeat.
This is the first full length album they recorded after the first tour they went on. Unfortunately my copy doesn’t have the original lyric sheet but it still absolutely Rips.
Loud fast and punk as fuck. This is what I love about them and every other dbeat band. The crass cover on the b side is probably the best version of do they owe us a living (no shade to the original I love crass but they have other songs yk listen to something other than the feeding of the 5000)

At the end of the day this band isn’t the most innovative but they are one of my favorites. It’s a perfect band for all you crusty studded gluesniffers. If you haven’t listened to them go do it.

4 - SunnO))) - 25th Anniversary Rehearsal Demo (2023)
What can I say about sunnO))) that hasn’t been said before? They’re the loudest band I’ve ever seen (also the smokiest). I got my copy when I saw them on their Shosin Duo tour in 2023.
There’s really no way to describe this band other than true amplifier worship. You can listen to recordings of them and even see live videos but nothing compares to sitting in the front row having your body shaken to the core by the sheer volume. (Especially if you’re on shrooms)
(Picture taken from discogs listing)
This is the one time I’ve ever spent extra money on getting preshow tickets. I got to see their soundcheck and it was super sick, although a bit silly seeing them not in the typical robes and instead a screwed up click jacket.

Definitely one of the craziest shows I’ve ever been to and everyone was just standing still. Feeling every part of your body vibrate along with the long notes and feedback is the most incredible feeling I’ve ever experienced there’s no words I have to say other than if you have the chance to see them go do it.

2. theyeattheirowngod. - unmarked (2013)
I first found out about tetog two years ago when I was up in NC. I stopped by sorry state records (probably my favorite record store on the planet, go check them out if you can) and I was digging through the 7”s and saw this album cover that had nothing but a picture on it for $6 so I said fuck it and grabbed it. I didn’t get to listen to it until I got back home to houston and as soon as I popped it on my mind was blown.
After I had listened to it (multiple times lol) I decided to look into them and realized “oh shit that’s Bee from Physique” which I thought was sick because only about a month before I saw them play live here in houston. After digging through their expansive discogs collection (2 Whole Releases) I saw this beautiful lavender version and had to have it.
Finally, onto the music. It’s loud, raw blackened crust with an unstoppable energy. The amount of power they have behind their sound is mind boggling, even just listening quietly in the background it has enough energy to get me up and moving.
Side A is three songs put together in one massive movement and it’s so perfect. All of it just fits together so well and every time I listen I lose my mind and how good they are. The lyrics are so fucking good it’s just exploding with emotion.

As Always…
Genuinely an amazing band all around they’ve influence me in my own music so much even though they aren’t around anymore. I can’t think of a single band that sounds like them and it just blows my mind every time I listen to them.
You can listen to them on bandcamp
Little side note: I’ve been on the hunt for their tape “Despite the depth of our alienation, we are never truly alone” and I haven’t been able to find it if you have a copy or know where I can find one please let me know. Or if you can find a digital rip of it point me in that direction. I know what’s on it, but I still want to be able to hear this one
1. Machine Gun Romantics - Everything So Far (2004)
This is one of my all time favorite bands, this cd is a compilation of all of their recorded works in their run time from 2002-2005. There’s a few songs that aren’t on here but you can find them on the Dead Reagan Era split they put out with S.S.E. Amazing powerviolence/fastcore type shit with both shrill and growling vocals.
Like I said before they are Houston fast music legends with Beau Beasley (Insect Warfare, Malignant Altar and more) on bass, Alex Hughes (Insect Warfare, Iron age and more) on drums, Mikey Teherani (Dream Shake and others) on guitar, and Ryan Allison (Mean and Ugly, 50/50) on lead vocals. Their songs rarely go over a minute long and they don’t need more time, they come in to punch you in the face with fast riffs and ear shattering screams then leave without a second look back. I wasn’t around back when they were active so this isn’t from my own experience, but watching past shows they have an unbeatable energy with the whole crowd swarming them on stage.

Insanely energetic and chaotic..
They sadly aren’t around anymore but the music they did release is amazing and endlessly inspiring to anyone who likes powerviolence, grind, fastcore, and any other Genre.
You can listen to this release on bandcamp as well as youtube.
I highly recommend them, I’m always playing them on repeat to anyone who will listen.
