Book recommendations for each house?
Hufflepuff: A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard
A love story between a deaf boy and a girl with severe anxiety that causes her to be a selective mute. Extremely cute story with lots of fluff and fantastic representation that integrates sign language seamlessly into the writing
Ravenclaw: Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn
A series of letters between residents of an island known for its love of pangrams (sentences containing every letter). They have a statue of the world’s shortest pangram but, after a storm, the letters start to fall off and it’s taken as a divine message. The government starts to ban letters as they fall off the statue and so the book continues with an ever decreasing alphabet. A short read but very clever and thought provoking
Gryffindor: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
A thought provoking commentary on police brutality in the usa. Follows Starr, a black girl who witnessed her friend being shot by police, and her relationship with racism. Would definitely recommend to any white person as it’s incredibly eye opening, and there’s great representation for minorities
Slytherin: Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
Three sisters, each with different magical powers, have an equal claim to the throne. They’re separated in their childhood and their powers are honed by their adoptive families. The night they turn sixteen, the fight for the crown begins. The winner is the last one standing. Reminds me of a YA Game of Thrones, lots of court politics but worth noting it’s part of a series so later books will likely have more action
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmasss~♪♡♡ My room is the happiest place on earth right now ˚₊*(ˊॢo̶̶̷̤◡ुo̴̶̷̤ˋॢ)*₊˚⁎

This is bloody genius
I got my heart broken and I survived, I failed 3 courses in university and graduated, I got rejected in the very first job I applied for and got promoted yesterday, I went through hard times with my family but then two years later, we laughed our hearts out over lunch, The closest friends disappointed me several times but I made new friends and loved them with all my heart. I did it once, I can do it again.
I NEEDED THIS SO BADLY

Can we romanticize video games the way we do books?
Like you hear all these things about how you can curl up with a book on a rainy day and drink tea and smother yourself in blankets but anytime you hear things about video games it’s always about how you’re wasting your life away yelling into a headset as you play Call of Duty in a basement?
Imagine bundling yourself up on the couch, the sound of rain hitting the roof, and putting on Fable for a few hours. Or getting home after a long day of work. You make yourself a cup of cocoa, put on fuzzy pjs, and play Viva Piñata for hours not giving a second thought to the outside world. Semester just got out? Throw on some Fallout and just take a night to breathe and enjoy.
You aren’t wasting your life away, you’re enjoying it. Games can be just as much an escape as books, except you get to be part of the story.
