Having a hard time avoiding the horrific news back home. And then visiting the Colosseum with its horrific history. Reminded of all the ugliness and brutality and hate and dehumanization past and present. And continuing to hope and pray and WORK to bend that arc of history toward justice and compassion and love. I’m still a heathen who believes that we’re all more alike than not and that religion should be used to unite us not divide us, but nonetheless that’s one pretty church. Also, a good time to thank the Catholic Church for its longstanding open-hearted position and advocacy for immigrant rights in the US. And a fine moment to say shame on the US Supreme Court for upholding Trump’s insane, offensive, and just plain wrong policy of religious discrimination against Muslims.
