When in the books…that’s just not true.
Just like how in the books Scott Hunter is actually only three years older than Shane and Ilya.
Just like how in the books Shane Hollander isn’t slow and doesn’t have a weak backhand. Shane is the most talented hockey player in the league!
For any 2000s basketball fans out there, Ilya chirping about Hayden is like if Tim Duncan turned to Kobe Bryant and said “Your teammate Shaquille O’Neal is okay at his job.”

tumblr just added an update that requires you to verify your age in order to view "mature content". I'm not sure how they do the verification (haven't yet checked), but given recent similar updates from things like Discord, it most likely involves sending them a photo of either your face or your ID.
In addition, over the past few months, and also years in the long-term, tumblr has been incorrectly marking things as mature content. These include:
Notifications about missing persons and requests for help
Posts about youth liberation
Posts about sex education
Posts about how the mature content is poorly implemented
Posts about being trans, more specifically about trans women and transmisogyny by both tumblr and users on tumblr
Non-sexual selfies by trans women/transfems
Trans womens'/transefems' ENTIRE BLOGS even if the blog contains no sexual content
Reblogs made by various blogs, mostly trans women, which add no additional content but somehow are marked as containing mature content, when the original post is not
Posts talking about racism and antiblackness both on and off tumblr
Posts by black people, especially black trans people, that are non-sexual
And likely many more I haven't seen
In essence, this update has mandated that a majority of users (within the UK and Brazil) must either a) submit their personal information to tumblr, a website whose moderation has been EXTREMELY biased against marginalised people and who I would not trust with my ID, or b) be excluded from absolutely all conversations tumblr decides are "mature content", whether they are actually sexual in nature or not. Furthermore, anyone not over 18 will also not be allowed to take part in these conversations, or even see them, or interact with many trans women or people of colour on this site, as tumblr decides.
This update is complete bullshit designed to censor and exclude marginalised people, poorly hidden under a guise of "protecting teenagers from sexual content", and they know it.
EDIT: This update apparently only affects users in the UK or Brazil, like me. This is still bullshit even if it's just some people.

“Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” is too often (incorrectly) used as a cover-all tag, on fics ranging from Vaguely Uncomfortable to Serious Shit, as a replacement for any intense tags relating to the story. People will use it to say “Holy shit guys some INTENSE SHIT happens in this story” without actually saying what that Intense Shit™ is.
In actuality, the “Dead Dove” tag is meant to be used in addition to other warning tags. Pulled from a scene from the show Arrested Development (look it up on YouTube!), it means “Hi! Hey! I labeled this fic to warn you of what’s in it, so you might REALLY want to read those labels! This fic is exactly what it says on the tin! The tags are accurate! Don’t say I didn’t warn you, because this is me warning you! Read the tags!”
So before you accidentally use the “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” tag without context, here’s your preemptive lesson for next time. Please tag your fics accordingly! Ta!
A while after the hollanov news breaks out, someone makes a joke saying Hayden should leak their sex tape next, which leads to thousands of fans sending him DMs and tagging him in posts, and the number of his followers increases two-fold, and for the first time in his career hashtag Hayden Pike is trending online. Side by side with #releasethetapes.
Ilyusha is giggling throughout this whole thing and even interacts with a few posts about it. And he tells Hayden if he wants a video of Ilya Rozanov jerking off he should just ask.
Shane is reminding his husband every 2 minutes that no they're not filming a sex tape for Hayden to post it no even if it's what the fans want no they're not going to do it. But he's internally amused and smug as fuck.
I got bored so decided to try and put all these Vampire Marleau head canons into a flash fic from the Boston teams POV. I definitely missed a few (Namely Jackie but know she's there in spirit) I also used the anglicized 'Marlow' here at the start because spelling was basically optional back in the day and I doubt Cliff cares. He probably just used whatever the media used but I covered that in this word vomit anyway.
(Also, apparently Marleau as a Francophonie for the French word Merle, which means Blackbird. So, does that mean Cliff is a Blackbird? If so, I am so using that.)
Cliff Marlow was an enigma in the Bears locker room. He was their Assisting Captain, their Captain’s ride or die right hand man. He was big enough and tough enough to be their best defenceman with a strength and speed some would call ‘Almost supernatural’.
He had nice handwriting. A very flowery and old fashioned, some of the rookies said, on the rare occasions he was forced to write on the white boards during their team meetings, even if his spelling could be kindly called ‘creative’ at times. At other times, some of the players would grumble that Marley 'couldn't fucking spell' as they tried to decipher a word.
He ran practices like they were military drills, to the point that it was more common then not for one or more players to throw up with fatigue and the team doctor hated his guts for it. The Bears were the fittest team in the League, even if their injury rate was through the roof.
He seemed to live a predominantly nocturnal life and was rarely seen outdoors during the day. Yes, he attended all practices and team meetings and games but no one could remember him coming to any of the charity events or publicity stunts in the mornings.
He barely attended team functions, especially the ones held during the day and a few of the guys had noted, when he did hang out at bars or clubs, he didn’t drink, or if he did, not around them.
He kept a large mirror in his stall in the locker room, the gold decor of which was, frankly, terrifying and no one had managed to convince him to get rid of it. Hell, it had become somewhat of a hazing for the rookies, making them look into the mirror for three minutes or as long as they could stand (No one had lasted more than 90 seconds and those poor bastards had always come away shaken, with stories of witnessing their own images twisting into dead bodies, of visions of bloodied battlefields and traumatic accidents. Of the smell and taste of iron and dirt. The horror images only tended to last for a few days so in the end, they all just chalked it up to Marley being weird and having a weird mirror and went to find the next unsuspecting person to dare to do it)
He called Ilya Rozanov, their Captain, ‘My Liege’ when he was stressed. Again, no one could figure out why, even Ilya who, when asked, thought it was a standard American thing and just moved on.
He couldn’t spell his own name. Connor Connors had taken to keeping a list of all the times Cliff had mis-spelt his own name, including Marlow, Marlo, Marleau, Marlou, Merle, Marlault and even one weird time, Morlaix. When he and Victor St Simon had decided to ask the guy how the hell to actually spell his name, Marley had just told them they were all correct.
He called his hockey stick his sword and every time he broke one, he would mourn loudly, as if his very life had depended on that piece of wood and plastic and always seemed offended when someone passed him a new one.
He had a weird vendetta against Scott Hunter, not that anyone knew why. Hunter was well known and liked, despite being on another team. He was a gentleman and barely got into fights, let alone bullied anyone. Yet more often than not, when facing the Admirals, Cliff would target Hunter on the ice and after, would go on a passionate rant about the man. Sometimes he got creative, talking about being stabbed in the back by the man. No one took him seriously when he went on these rants, simply because they were so fantastical, mentioning battlefields and wars. No one really knew the beef between the two but they had a running theory that the two must have played junior level together at some point and the man had a very flowery way of describing their feud.
He had been busted once, calling Shane Hollander an ‘Oriental’ and had been smacked down for his racist take. He had actually looked mortified at that, stuttering something about meeting the guy in the 80’s (At least that’s what they thought he had said, which made no sense since Hollander was a Millennial) but he had been apologetic and hadn’t done it again so everyone forgave him, even if he did tend to watch Hollander like a hawk, a frown on his face every time they were near each other, as if he expected the man to suddenly disappear.
He had also called Hayden Pike, Shane Hollanders Assisting Captain, the ‘Witches’ Mouse’, which, to be honest, was hilarious. Pike definitely had a mousey appearance about him.
Put frankly, Cliff Marlow was a weird guy. But in Boston, weirdos were common and loved and Marley, however weird he was, he was the team's weirdo and they loved him. Even if occasionally, they liked to joke that he was a vampire.

I actually want to write a proper fic eventually (and have fallen down the rabbit hole of research and now have a half-baked plot which is basically mixing Arthurian legends, The Vikings TV Show and the Movie Dracula Untold to explain how he became a vampire) If that would interest anyone, please let me know.
Does anyone know what font is used for the numbers on the jerseys in Heated Rivalry? I'm making a chess set in my engineering class and I was able to theme it around whatever I wanted, so I picked Heated Rivalry. Now that the jerseys are CADed, I can't find the font to make the numbers. Does anyone know what it is? I need to get them going on the 3D printers by next week and this is my only social media to ask on.
