So I’m sure I’m not the first person to suggest a Proposition Infinity au where it’s Bender and Fry who get together instead of Bender and Amy (because let’s face it, we all know that’s what should’ve happened but didn’t because the writers are heterosexual cowards), but specifically, imagine a Proposition Infinity au where Bender and Fry do get married at the end but subsequently divorce like a week later for some really dumb reason that’s no doubt Bender being his usual dramatic self, and Fry and Leela’s on-again-off-again relationship from the revival seasons is joined by a concurrent Fry and Bender on-again-off-again relationship (when Fry’s not with one of them he’s with the other).
Of course this is eventually resolved with a stable OT3, but I love both the idea of being able to rewrite episodes like Ghost in the Machines to feature explicit (in the textual sense, not the… other sense) Frender while not sacrificing canon Freela, as well as the comedic potential in this bizarre love triangle where Fry is constantly ping-ponging between the two of them and doesn’t know who to choose.
