SalonDUO travels to Virginia
Mackenzie, Kelsey, Elizabeth and Hannah traveled to Lynchburg Virgina this past weekend to learn some of the latest trends in hair, Ecaille, which is quickly taking over the ombre trend in the hair universe. Along with learning some ecaille and new balayage techniques, we learned about salon culture, the importance of teamwork, and the value of work life balance. Posted below are the summaries from the girls experience! We are pumped to bring this back to the peach state and bring back the new techniques to SalonDUO!
Mackenzie: “ Visiting sage is always truly a great experience. I'm so glad that we all got to go as a group this time. So glad that the girls could see who has inspired us. We learned a more structured process of Balayage, as for direction and pattern. And two ways to achieve the new trend Ecaille (tortoise shell hair). I'm also glad that they went over the wash house experience so that we can further improve our scalp massage and continue to raise the bar at duo. I love the way that they structure their salon, and the way it is run. They are all a family and work together as a team. And that they all come together and leave together, which means they all clean up together. Susie always gives such motivational speeches and positive vibes that every time we revisit sage I am inspired and motivated to become a better team member and strive to become a better hair stylist.”
Kelsey: “ While at Sage, I learned a hair coloring technique for the newest trend, Écaille (ee-ky-yeh), which is the French word for Tortoiseshell. It is an ombré and balayage of sorts, just a little softer, with darker tones and the "rooty" look that is in these days. Also learned more about how to balayage. I learned the importance of being a positive team, and working together to be a well oiled machine, making sure our clients are happy and that we are all happy, so that we can build our careers, make money, and still get home to have enough time with our families who are the most important.”
Elizabeth: “ This past weekend when I visited Sage Tryall salon I learned two color techniques and also about the business of their salon. I felt very inspired by the energy and passion they had within their team and throughout their salon! The new color technique I learned is called Ecaille which means tortoise shell in French. How it connects with hair is used by the sectioning that resembles the shape of a turtle shell, also it is mainly used with caramel and warm brown tones just like a tortoise. It was an amazing learning experience and I would love to go back again.”
