Saltwater Injection have followed up on their 2015 debut single with a new 5 track EP released last week. The band is comprised of two brothers and they self describe their music as “Post-Heroin Punk”
The first song on the EP, ‘Sexual Adventure’ begins with an ominous bass intro before launching into a grindcore/punk powerhouse reminiscent of Therapy!
Next up is ‘Cuntryfile PT11’, a follow up to last year’s ‘Cuntryfile’ (which in itself was featured on a T-Shirt with the slogan “Cameron is a cunt!” – true dat!) The song itself veers more into the aforementioned grindcore with some passionate vocals over another bass heavy riff.
‘Master Bear Baiting’ ups the pace with some machine gun drumming anchoring the screamed vocals. It changes pace before a powerful ending. The penultimate track ‘Kill a Boss’ is much slower, grinding the listener into submission with some killer vocals.
Closing out the EP is the 63 seconds of ‘Unlicensed Beatles Cover’ – the album was recorded in Liverpool and I’m not sure what the mopped topped lads would have made of it – it holds nothing back!

Straight away it is worth noting that Saltwater Injection are not for the faint of heart.
Their newly released EP can only be described as an onslaught on the senses. The bass and drum duo bombard their listener with 5 tracks of punk infused bitterness.
Joe's distorted bass screeches at you, Its electric tinge forcing its presence into your head space. All the while gelling perfectly with Paul's beating of the drums and his gravelly vocals. The combo is tormenting but it never stops being intriguing.
Having seen them in a live setting before, they have translated their sound in its entirety into the digital form. Their same political tones and familiar approach is still present.
The stand out track has to be opener, 'Sexual Adventure'. Its electronic tone and screeching vocals reminiscent of a young Nine Inch Nails.
Overall 'Regurgitated For The People' is an extremely interesting listen. It never really aims to reward it's listener but instead assaults you. It enters your mind and sticks with you long after listening. If you are granted the opportunity to see these two live, I'd urge you to take that chance.
What Are We Talking About?
The debut E.P from Ellesmere Ports obnoxiously loud, noise-rock punks Saltwater Injection. Following the release of their double-A-side single; Vinegar//Cuntryfile last year, they are back with 5 amusingly titled, guttural assaults. They all add up to form the gut-churningly loud E.P 'Regurgitated for the People'
Summary
100%, hardcore, unadulterated noise of the angriest variety. These boys have a lot to say (or scream). Growling, snarling and spewing each line of ranting, irate, pent up rage, there is no doubt that this duo want to tear every social and political injustice to pieces.
Cuntryfile part II is the perfect kick off to such a body of bubbling frustration as SI screech "you can't privatize me". Kill A Boss is a welcome gear-change on the E.P and shows of a more melodic side of the band. Don't get used to it though because the mayhem continues and does not abate from track 3 'Master Bear Baiting' until the very last pugilistic smash of the drums and wrench of the vocal chords on 'Unlicensed Beatles Cover'.
Best for listening to when you really need a release of pent up aggression or when you want to scream about all the bullshit that goes on in the world. A great body of protest music that can act as a call to arms for a suppressed and angry counter-culture.
What Hooked Me?
Kill A Boss, pure sludge, dragged out at an unsettling pace for this band. It hammers, belts and heaves the listener past the half-way mark of the E.P. This song is indicative of the 'take no prisoners' approach that SI take to their music. You either like it or you can fuck off.

2 severed heads puking a multi-coloured substance into each others mouths. It is a nice nod to their spiritual home 'Multi-Coloured Noise Music Club'.
Feedback
As Saltwater Injection continue to grow I would like to see them do 2 things;
1. Continue to experiment with their sound. 'Kill A Boss' is definitely a highlight of the E.P and I would like to hear more where that come from. It matches up with 'Vinegar' from their double-A-side and a stomping, thudding monster of a track. Just as long as they are still all pissed off.
2. Crisp up their imagery. It is clear to see that they have an solid idea of how they want their product to look and that is great. I believe the vivid, uber-bright imagery they use is a good direction for them but I would like to see it in the hands of a graphic designer to see how good they could get it all looking.

The band had this to say on the release; "With the release of our first E.P we are officially laying out our plans for the destruction of modern society as we know it. We hope 'Regurgitated...' will bring on a new age of peace in our times, but so long as it destroys some eardrums we're happy. In layman's terms, its four of the noisiest most aggressive songs we could squeeze from our orifice's with one cover (if you can call it that) thrown in for good measure. When the soul feels an Earthquake of sound, when it experiences the rolling thunder and the spark of flammable electricity surge through the body to the point where the fingers don’t just tingle, they fry with instant longing and the crackle of voltage set to stun, then the soul knows that the dust will fall, the lethargy will be shaken off and the sincere gratitude for feeling alive will be marked down in the diary as a moment of re-birth. Listening to Saltwater Injection that crackle is intensified and as their new E.P.,Regurgitated For The People, shows with raw honesty, electricity and power go hand in hand.
Like love, an Earthquake is temporary, but its effects can be found going on for years after the first surge of authorative might, the radioactive insistence that a set of nuclear like lyrics can impose on even the outer reaches of the brain, you may as well start pouring the entire output from the Chinese steel industry into a foundry and let the noise begin, whatever crescendo it reaches, it won’t be a patch on what the listener feels as Saltwater Injection turn up the heat.
The E.P. begins metaphorically with the feedback of a thousand timely screams, of the rampant nature of humanity begging for the muscle of music to take hold and from there it never relents, it never forgives and ultimately never lets the listener down; loud, proud and devastatingly brutal; this is music designed to argue with dominance and sway with the affection of a gentle lover tenderly protecting its own in the face of overwhelming conflict.
The tracks, Sexual Adventure, Cuntryfile PtII, Kill A Boss and Master Bear Baiting, are colourful, brutally commanding and play with senses that were either forgotten about or discarded in the pursuit of so called lofty goals. The heavy weight sound is the low flying black angry cloud on the horizon but with every cloud must come a silver lining and it is pitch forked ready to strike, ready to humble and ready to impress.
Regurgitated For The People is the scream of dominion and its effects are unashamedly strong and commanding; Saltwater Injection are a shot of sanity in an insane world.
