“My father is a bullfighter…I am a watermelon… yeah” – Johnny Depp. 😂 🍉
Some things never change: Johnny and his attempt to speak German.
During one of the interviews for the press, last Friday (February 21), Johnny repeated his favorite – and maybe only – German sentence that ended up becoming a “joke” throughout the years.
“Mein Vater ist ein Stierkämpfer… Ich bin eine Wassermelone…Ja?”
In English it means: “My father is a bullfighter… I am a watermelon… Yeah” Although Johnny loves to learn somethings in another language, it’s unknown when, how and who taught or even if he learned by himself; but the first time known was at the Felix Awards in 1996 when he was asked if he knew something in German. Then, the next known moment he repeated the same thing was in 2013 during the “Lone Ranger” press conference in Berlin. On that day he added another part saying “I’m crazy, yeah” also in German. The funniest thing is that during all these moments, while people are bursting into laughter, he doesn’t laugh. He just smirks. 😏 😂
“Your Deutsch it’s fantastic. Doesn’t really make sense but it’s pretty good” 😂 😂 😂
