If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. Stand up. Fight back. Don’t be complacent and passively accept the injustices being perpetuated through a history of systemic oppression. There ain’t no power like the power of the people!
Edit: I posted this before we knew the election results and now my message is as important as ever and has a broader audience than the Standing Rock crisis. Demand Donald respects the existence of everyone. Demand he is a president for the people. Demand he acts on decency and not on hate any longer. Don’t be afraid to share your opinion and concerns. Our resistance to his past words and actions is justified, and moving forward let’s set an example of resisting in revolutionary ways. Be kind. Be gentle. Be strong in your convictions and graceful in your actions. Let’s get involved. Let’s volunteer. Let us use this passion and energy to fight back and demand a better world for the planet and the people. Let this teach us to profoundly unify with our brothers and sisters. Let’s fight ignorance with knowledge, intolerance with compassion, arrogance with modesty, greed with selflessness, and hate with love. Stand up for what what is right and fight for all things good in this world. It’s always worth the fight.
Posting again because it got way more important!

Maybe 10 years from now we’ll meet again at a coffee shop down the road and start over.

the year of letting go, of understanding loss. grace. of the word ‘no’ and also being able to say ‘you are not kind’. the year of humanity/humility. when the whole world couldn’t get out of bed. everyone i’ve met this year, says the same thing ‘you are so easy to be around, how do you do that?’. the year i broke open and dug out all the rot with my own hands. the year i learnt small talk. and how to smile at strangers. the year i understood that i am my best when i reach out and ask ‘do you want to be my friend?’. the year of sugar, everywhere. softness. sweetness. honey honey. the year of being alone, and learning how much i like it. the year of hugging people i don’t know, because i want to know them. the year i made peace and love, right here.
