  "I bet you did just fine on your own." Souji’s smiling already, clearly amused by Yu’s complaining, and he turns slightly to pat them (perhaps a little patronizingly) on the head before going back to chopping up an apple.

"I was going to have a snack either way, reward or not." They huff and mirror their twin's smile, shifting forward to settle their chin on his shoulder. "But since you're offering, I'm no gonna say no."

  She wanted to be sarcastic and cutting, in fact the words were on her tongue, but that reminded the girl too much of the tv world and what happened.

"I’m fine, promise" hoping a firmer inflection would make them believe her this time.

"Ah, good. Wasn’t sure how he was since I didn’t see him at work yesterday. I figured he told his dad he was sick or something and stayed home."

Or he was avoiding me all day…

That seemed possible too.

Running out of things to talk about, Saki tilted her head a little.

"You didn’t have one of those…well Shadow was what the bear called them. Or did I miss that when I passed out?"

They decide to drop the topic. They barely know her, and while they don't quite believe her, prying doesn't seem the best option for the time being. So they nod and move on.

"--Yeah. Something like that." Yu shrugs. "He'll be back to his normal self soon, I think."

A slight shrug. "--Yeah, I didn't have one. You didn't miss anything much really." They had been wondering why they hadn't seen a Shadow of their own. Perhaps they just weren't in the right area? Or-- well, they didn't feel like they had anything they were hiding anything in particular.
