“I don’t want to talk. I just want a drink. Thanks.”
Just Like A Little Girl — A Playlist for Sam Kincaid
Bad Reputation — Joan Jett
An' I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation/Never said I wanted to improve my station.
People might judge Sam for who she is and what she’s doing to survive. She doesn’t care. As long as she has food and a place to sleep and is left alone, she couldn’t give a shit about people’s opinions.
At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used to Be) — Fun.
I don’t want no savior baby/I just wanna have a good time/Oh, oh, at least I’m not as sad as I used to be.
Life is life. Sam has it figured out right now, and, for the most part, she’s pretty happy with how things are going, thank you very much.
Everybody Wants to Rule the World — Tears for Fears, covered by Lorde
Help me to decide/Help me make the most of freedom.
Sam still has a lot of education left until she fully understands the complexity of Communism. Even so, she is sure it’s the best way for people like her to get freedom and escape a failed system.
Riot Rhythm — Sleigh Bells
Prepare, ride the lightning/It's like heart-heart-heartbeat.
It’s not easy to get Sam excited; she wears her emotions close to her sleeve for a reason. There are two exceptions to that rule: cars and getting to go to some sort of rally.
Just Like A Woman — Bob Dylan
Then you ache just like a woman/But you break just like a little girl.
No matter what Sam does, no matter how she tries to hide who she is, she is nothing more than a runaway girl.
Smile — Nat King Cole covered by Janelle Monae
Cause that's the time you must keep on trying/Smile, what's the use of crying.
Sam is not going to give up. She’s already come this far; she escaped her family and found a home for herself. There is no way she’s going back or feeling sorry for herself. She just doesn’t have the time.
Look, don’t make me say it again. Just give me the fucking wrench.

“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you? Kids aren’t allowed in the bar.”
“’Scuse me? They always let me in.”
“Look, I already told ya. I’ve been here before. Just let go of my arm. What is wrong with you?”
imthomaswinters:
“Aww, Sammy. You don’t hafta lie. And if anyone deserves a nice girl, it’s you.”
“Nah. A girl would just get in the way. You know that, Thomas.”
“How’d you get all those girls clothes? It must have been really expensive, Sammy. Unless you’ve got a girlfriend? That’s it, isn’t it! You’ve got a girlfriend.”
“What? No. Ew. What would I do with a girl hanging around? I borrowed them from one of the guys at the shop’s little sister. Don’t go getting all excited now.”
“Sam? Is that you? Figured you were just some girl. Want me to help you find those assholes?”
“Hey. Yeah. I guess this costume’s a little too good, huh? Shouldn’t have bothered getting dressed up. Nah. I’m good.”
“If one more person grabs me out of fear or whatever excuse they’re making, I might have to hit them. I’m not kidding.”
“I thought - you being another woman, you would care about cute kids starting walking. That’s what we are to care about, right? But if you don’t, I presume I should go or, I am actually not quite sure the appropriate thing to do.”
“Think you have me confused with someone else, actually. Sorry to disappoint you, but...I don’t care about children that much. They usually get in the way from my experience.”
“Sorry, but why do you think I’d care about this?”
“C’mon, Sam. Don’t be that way.”
“I’m not being any way. You’re the one acting like because I’m young I don’t know a thing.”
“Wow. It’s like you have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Silas spoke with a slightly clipped tone, sick of people being ratty with him. “I just wanted to point out that your chair leg has trapped my jacket,” he griped at the child.
Sam sighed and barely shifted her chair, just enough that his jacket would be free. “Your jacket is free now,” she told the man, turning back to her food.
“If you didn’t notice, I’m a little busy right now...”
