“Stop apologizing. You don’t have to say sorry for how you laugh, how you dress, how you make your hair, how you speak. You don’t have to be sorry for being yourself. Do it fearlessly. It’s time to accept this is you, and you gotta spend the rest of your life with you. So start loving your sarcasm, your awkwardness, your weirdness, your unique sense of humor, your everything. It will make your life so much easier to simply be yourself.”

You also don’t have to apologize for - being anxious, not feeling like talking, not going out, having a panic attack, not being able to get out of bed, not cleaning the kitchen. You can be working on bettering yourself and still be struggling. Mental health is not linear. Don’t be sorry about it. Remind yourself of all those things above. All the things about yourself that you are proud of. All the things about yourself that make you, you.
I had a panic attack last night. First one I’ve had in a few years. It was triggered by a few things all at once. The most frustrating thing about it was that I kept catching myself saying sorry. I felt bad that I was crying and not having any control over it. In my head I knew, I knew I didn’t have to say sorry. But I really felt like a burden. I know I’m not. I know that is my trauma response and my response of never wanting to cause an issue. It’s not fair to myself, to yourself. We are allowed to take up space. Don’t apologize for it. We are allowed to be happy, and yes, we are allowed to be sad.
