👁‍🗨 This is what RAUM is all about. If you do not know this initiative and place radiant of equality and culture just yet - it is time to discover it! They co-create exhibitions or art installations in public spaces, and events such as festivals and workshops to create a city life in which everyone is involved: the city, its residents, and its visitors.

🥯They have a steady location with beautiful terras at the Berlijnplein right in between the latest exhibitions - here you can grab a bite to eat & drink at Venster.  

💯 Even the menu is not fixed and co-created and depends on guests, personal preferences, the season, availability at a local supplier, and neighborhood. You won’t get something very, very unusual here - but you will get a great meal that is special because you will know where the ingredients come from - and you’re most likely only a bike ride away from their origin! Let your afternoon cycle teleport you into a time of knights & court ladies. A beautiful 20 minute ride along the Vecht - you need to know the right  #Staycation route - will lead you to a hidden gem just Oud-Zuilen!

🏰 Explore the beautiful and historic Slot Zuylen at its brightest, smell the flowers of the gardens, and sip a coffee in the courtyard. For those interested in the historical magnificence, you can get an audio guide and scatter the museum's grounds. Or are you more of an admirer of the visible interplay between history & nature? Take a seat on the bench and just soak it all in - or head there earlier and order a picnic basket beforehand to make it an extraordinary lunch!

DETAILS Cycling route: 22 minutes, 6.1 kilometers Castle: with a ticket for the castle, you can freely explore the grounds by yourself from 11.30 to 3.30 in the afternoon. Your tickets will be scanned at the entrance and in the summer months, Slot Zuylen does recommend a reservation.

Museum Audio Guide: You can download a free audio guide to the museum via the izi.Travel app. So you just need to bring your smartphone and your headphones, and you are ready to go!

Garden tour: In the summer months, you can follow a guided garden tour every Sunday at 14.00 hours. This needs to be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.

Picnic: You got the unique opportunity to order a picnic basket via your reservation from Museum cafe Koetshuis (at least 24 hours in advance). To have a picnic in the gardens near the castle, you will need a garden ticket or ticket for the castle and the garden.

☀️ Now it is about time for the golden hour - scroll through the beauty up there and see what is ahead of you! I have the ultimate cycling route for you to enjoy the beauty Oud-Zuilen has to offer & this magical time of the day is just perfect for doing so.

I even got an extra route for those who like long-distance running that you will love it because it will genuinely let you forget the kilometers you are making and allows you to explore!

Running route: Starting point at Nuede, 19.6 Kilometers - but please feel free to shorten it. What I sometimes did was start in Zuilen at the Juliana park instead to cut down a few kilometers.

🌬On our way, we will pass the Molen van de Buitenweg en Polder Westbroek - the smallest and biggest windmill of the province right next to each other, connected through monumental floodgates dating back as far as the 1830s. Cycling Route: 3 minutes, 1.2 kilometers

🚲 Another loop through a storybook neighborhood and off we go for a borrel right at the Water @Brasserie Oud-Zuilen.

Cycling Route: 20 Minutes, 5.7 kilometers DETAILS Menu: The Brasserie Oud-Zuilen is a unique and rather higher-ranked place for lunch & dinner as the French-oriented cuisine works exclusively with daily fresh and seasonal (regional) products. The menu is completed with a hand-picked wine card, including 50 very good quality wines, of which many can be ordered by the glass. But, of course, they also offer traditional Dutch Borrel on the terrace!

Special: They also offer boats tours on the Vecht with affordable deluxe borrel or lunch arrangements! Truly lovely to do with a small group of friends. Have a look at all the options right here. You have probably heard of this very strength intensive free climbing trend already but maybe never got around actually to try it - then it is about time! UNESCO’s fight against misinformation backed by Utrecht University

The COVID-19 pandemic has far reaching and profound consequences. It goes without saying that the crisis has changed the world as we know it. One area which has been receiving significantly more attention is the media. Can garlic protect you against coronavirus? The answer is simple: no. The World Health Organization has created an extensive list called “Mythbusters.” The aim of this page is to debunk widely circulating myths surrounding the pandemic. This is part of a global campaign designed to fight back against misinformation. UNESCO’s fight against disinformation Misinformation refers to spreading false information without the intention to cause harm. Disinformation, on the other hand, is the spread of false information with the intention of causing harm. Now, more than ever, both of these dangerous types of information can reach millions of people in an instant. Authorities today need to fight both a pandemic and the misinformation that accompanies it. To aid in this fight, UNESCO urged for a global effort to translate the 2018 book entitled “Journalism, fake news & disinformation: handbook for journalism education and training,” available online for free. In this book, expert authors share their knowledge and advice on combating the spread of false information. Holland covers hundreds of bus stops with plants as gift to honeybees

The roofs of hundreds of bus stops have been covered in plants as a gift to honeybee, by a city in the Netherlands.

Mainly made up of sedum plants, a total of 316 have been covered in greenery in Utrecht.

The shelters not only support the city’s biodiversity, such as honey bees and bumblebees, but they also help capture fine dust and store rainwater.

The roofs are looked after by workers who drive around in electric vehicles, and the bus stops have all been fitted with energy-efficient LED lights and bamboo benches.

They are just one of a number of measures Utrecht has introduced in a bid to improve air quality.

I am talking about this little canal bridge house at the Oosterkade. A local barbershop uses it as a unique location to offer classic haircuts and traditional shaves. 💈 Although it is a place of work, it looks like a tiny museum taking you back to a different point in time - have a peek!

🌕 And we end at the Sonnenborgh Observatory. Let your eyes wander through a telescope in this historical observatory located within a bastion dating back all the way to the 16th century! Meestal omvat het schema sessies in de ochtend en de middag/avond, zodat ze perfect passen in het schema van een werkdag.

Nnadat je hard getraind hebt, zal je lichaam vragen om voedingsstoffen. Co-Werkruimte: Op dit moment kan je zelfs een plekje bij FIG's huren om het als een veilige co-working space met een onbeperkt koffie & thee arrangement te gebruiken! En natuurlijk toegang tot een heerlijk lunchmenu en meditatieruimtes voor ontspannende pauzes. 🧘🏼

Na een rustige sessie met lekker eten, is er een korte wandeling gepland. Je loopt aan de Vecht naar een van mijn favoriete zijstraatjes in de stad en langs de Molen Rijn. Na deze wandeling is jouw actieve dag ten einde, maar misschien is er nog wel wat ruimte voor een lekker ijsje onderweg?🍦

🕵🏼‍♂️ℹ️ De Letters van Utrecht: a poem for the future along the Oudegracht of Utrecht!

The Letters of Utrecht is a project that was officially started in 2012, but its first 648 blocks were laid out and back-dated all the way back to January 1, 2000.

This is how it works: Every Saturday, a block is taken to be inscribed with the next letter of the lines written by a poet of Utrecht's Guild of Poets and then returned to its spot. A process - letter by letter - aimed to continue beyond the 21st and into the 22nd and 23rd century, to wrap the city with its people's words for as long as its residents support it.

🕵🏼ℹ️ De Letters van Utrecht: een gedicht voor de toekomst langs de Oudegracht van Utrecht!

De Letters van Utrecht is een project dat officieel is gestart in 2012, maar waarvan de eerste 648 blokken zijn aangelegd en gedateerd tot 1 januari 2000.
