ARtists | Hashtag Gallery | Mexico City
ARtists explores this paradigm shift, where Augmented Reality (AR) is not merely a technology, but a critical language.
OPENING NIGHT: JAN 22, 7pm-Late Av. Benjamin Franklin 151-A, Condesa, CDMX Reality, as we know it, has ceased to be a static dimension, evolving instead into a canvas of infinite layers. The exhibition ARtists explores this paradigm shift, where Augmented Reality (AR) is not merely a technological tool, but a critical language that expands the boundaries of perception and physical space. Through the lens of three visionary creators, this exhibition proposes a dialogue between the tangible and the virtual, the ancestral and the algorithmic.
Artists
Mocre: Mocre is a multidisciplinary artist from Mexico City whose career is marked by exceptional versatility, masterfully transitioning from street art to the creation of installations, crypto-art, and immersive experiences. Recognized as a pioneer in presenting live Virtual Reality performances in cultural and governmental venues across Mexico, Mocre has redefined the use of mixed reality by hybridizing traditional techniques—such as linocut and painting—with cutting-edge technologies to breathe life into the pre-Hispanic worldview and endemic fauna. His ability to bridge digital innovation and tradition has led to collaborations on global stages like Burning Man and VRFESTMX, establishing him as a key figure who transforms technology into a bridge for conservation and cultural reflection.
Aldo Parallel: is a new media artist and concept designer working at the intersection of creative technologies and transmedia storytelling. For over a decade, he has led interactive art direction on culturally resonant projects across entertainment, advertising, and immersive media. His practice continues to evolve through original creations where narrative, technology, and veiled layers of meaning converge. Driven by augmented imagination, he fractures and reforges reality, revealing hidden dimensions and symbolic depths. Through MESOPOTAMICORE, he introduces and constructs a metamodern odyssey that reimagines Mesopotamian age, where shadow faces the light and ancient lore entwines with radical futures.
Sam Heydt: Sam Heydt’s multimedia praxis mobilizes techniques of disruption and reiteration to challenge stabilizing frameworks by generating augmented realities that destabilize representations. Filtered through postmodern, glitch and parodic lenses, Heydt uses virtual augmentation to denaturalize norms and imagine new subjectivities in gallery spaces through digital refashioning of the real. By mapping augmented layers onto physical environments through an AR interface, Heydt merges real and virtual experiences in novel spatial configurations. Interested in AR’s potential, Heydt overlays ephemeral transformations onto backdrops to provoke contemplating experience’s permeable constitution across physical and virtual strata.

Edge of Chaos | Raseiniai, Lithuania
We invite all residents and guests of the Raseiniai region to visit a unique photography and photo collage exhibition on February 18 at 12:00 PM at the Municipality! The exhibition features photo collages by the U.S. photographer Samantha Heydt from the series Edge of Chaos and a photo series titled Red–Black by Raseiniai creator Rūta Račiūnaitė-Simėnienė. Both authors have previously participated in the Raseiniai District Cultural Center's projects, such as the International Šiluva Contemporary Art Biennale and Žemaitija's Legend.
"The edge is closer than we think, but illusions will not free us from reality, even if tabloid stories become history and the myth of progress continues to reinforce inequality. As the natural world fades, giving way to artificial environments, the social landscape fractures and alienates further. The media drowns out the message; reality is overshadowed by the white noise of information, soothing the social psyche with empty promises," – this is how Samantha Heydt describes her photo collage series.
Rūta Račiūnaitė-Simėnienė's exhibition also has a unique story. It was supposed to be presented several years ago when Rūta was studying in Raseiniai, but the planned opening day coincided with the municipality's closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thus, we will have the opportunity to see several "postponed" exhibitions, which, in our opinion, have not lost their relevance. The world continues to race toward the brink of chaos at a dizzying speed... Perhaps art is the only hope for salvation.
The exhibition curator is Arūnas Kazlauskas, the project manager of the Raseiniai District Cultural Center.

Mariposa
"Mariposa" is a breathtaking and ethereal analog assemblage, measuring 30" x 30", and priced at $25,000. This unique, one-of-a-kind work presents a woman enveloped in a soft, powder blue hue, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of butterflies that seem to flutter and dance around her. Sam HEYDT's enchanting piece is a poignant exploration of transformation, beauty, and the human experience. The woman's serene presence is juxtaposed with the whimsical, ephemeral nature of the butterflies, raising questions about the fragility and impermanence of life. Are the butterflies a symbol of hope and renewal, or a reminder of the transience of beauty and youth? Accompanied by a QR code, this innovative work also incorporates cutting-edge technology, allowing viewers to unlock an Augmented Reality (AR) animation that brings the butterflies to life, their delicate wings beating in a mesmerizing display of color and movement. "Mariposa" is a captivating and contemplative work that invites the viewer to step into a world of wonder and magic, and is a must-have for collectors and institutions seeking to engage with the most pressing issues of our era.
FRESH KILLS
Harm here is here there. In the throw-away culture of America, a landfill serves as a haunting metaphor for the postindustrial dilemma. It is a locus of decay, the residual of systemic greed and excess, a politically layered sites where relics from our past rot. The accelerating rate products are consumed, replaced, burned up and thrown out put an inexplicable strain on the environment. The illusion hinging happiness on consumption has consequences that manifest in toxic mountains shielded from public view. This ignorance is no longer a haven to bliss, but rather a threat to sustainability. In addressing America's culture of waste, I conflate the catalyst to consumption with its residual through mounting the images of landfills on light-boxes to stylistically mimic advertisements. Through this de-contextualization, one hopes to generate a sense of social consciousness around the cultural phenomenology of consumerism.
