in the silent aftermath, gepard remains rooted, offering no further resistance to the moving figure; a silent observer to the departure, his ears attuned to the departing words. the motives that propel the man's peculiar behavior remain shrouded in mystery to gepard—whether it's a pursuit of amusement or a veiled concealment of profound depths, he remains uncertain. a subtle intuition whispers that, unless sampo willingly unravels the layers of his being, gepard will forever remain in the dark. yet, despite the uncertainty, he can't suppress the emergence of parted lips, releasing a comment that trails in the wake of sampo's retreat. “ a jester or one intricately scarred. perhaps the one intricately scarred finds solace in the guise of a jester. ” but what does he know?
their encounter ends there, leaving behind a contemplative gepard, grappling with introspection; he attempts to shake himself from the labyrinth of thoughts, acknowledging the imminent call of duty and tasks awaiting his attention.
Though Gepard cannot see, canines bare in amusement. Scarred, huh? An overactive imagination indeed--! He'd keep that in mind. On the verge of being gone from one another's lives, the edge of being too far away, fingers suddenly snap, breaking the gravity of mutual departure one final time. He had just remembered something very important.
"Don't forget your handcuffs next time, Captain~! ♥" Sampo Koski always gets the final word.
once more, the predictable unfolds; the theatrical, the grandiose gestures, and the protracted monologue. there exists nothing within sampo that refrains from loudly proclaiming 'look at me, pay attention to me'. and despite gepard's concerted efforts to distance himself from such ostentation, he finds himself exhaling with a resigned acknowledgment that a certain inexplicable connection binds him to this unabashed man. he loathes it, despises the intangible nature of this tether. thus, he sighs once more, aware that sampo, in his characteristic flamboyance, harbors no actual intention of taking his leave.
“ do you never get tired of this? ” gepard asks, dismissive of the meandering soliloquy that has unfolded in sampo's little dramatic spectacle. “ to act like this. i can't imagine that's what you're really like. ” this isn't gepard's attempt at fostering profound conversation ( an idea he deems implausible ); rather, it's a quest to comprehend the impetus behind sampo's behavior—so exaggerated, so audacious. gepard's blush, mercifully, has dissipated by now, and the piercing gaze of his azure eyes fixates on the unyielding figure of the 'departing' man.
The game has ended, it seems, as dramatic actor halts mid-turn, head cocked to give his fellow player full gaze. Gepard broke first and only disappointment was left in the wake of milquetoast victory. For a brief moment, he is frozen. Eyes as cold as the wind that blew across the tundra stare, weight palpable, calculating, a hint that there may indeed be something more there. --Or perhaps not, for it's gone in a flash as shoulders roll in exaggerated shrug.
"Guess you're sorely lacking in the imagination department then, Captain. Hmm--" A thought crosses his mind, finger tapping at his lips, hand on hip as actually turns away this time, taking actual steps towards departure. "Actually, thinkin' about it, sounds more like an overactive imagination--putting on an act, all the time? For what--fun?" The con man flicks his fingers out in a dismissive gesture. Eternally playing a role, merely an actor in his own life--
"Sounds like somethin' only a Fool would do."
oh, realization should have dawned upon him long before. he should have foreseen this man would relentlessly misconstrue every nuance, each subtle insinuation, spiraling the discourse far beyond the intended trajectory gepard sought with his veiled threat. with every word from sampo, a palpable warmth creeps over gepard's face, imbuing his cheeks with a delicate hue of rosy pink. it's not sampo himself eliciting this response, but rather the very nature of the discussion—a topic seldom exposed to the scrutinizing gaze of the public eye. and gepard, a staunch advocate of discretion when it comes to personal predilections, finds himself uncomfortably thrust into the limelight.
“ the ice, mister koski, is breaking, ” gepard finally responds, having gathered the fragments of his composure. he swallows the palpable lump lodged in his throat, turning his frame slightly away. “ i suggest you cease speaking, pivot in the opposite direction, and depart. handcuffs, i'm afraid, may prove insufficient to restrain you, hence i'll be forced to summon additional silvermane guards for your apprehension. for disturbing the public peace. ”
Aww--Gepard was blushing! How adorable. He hadn't even mentioned anything particularly raunchy or outright detestable--thinking over his words, he's quite certain that absolutely nothing he said was risque in the least. It was always the most reserved and disciplined with the dirtiest minds, it seemed. Shock and surprised were his mask now, putting on his best appearance of confusion upon such an antagonistic response--!
"Why--what did I say? Talking too much again? I was simply offering my aid in helping you replace your handcuffs--I can't believe you're threatening me with your subordinates now! Oh, to think you hate me so much that you can't even give me a pounding yourself if I'm such a nuisance--" Oh, his heart was broken and he clutched at the fabric covering his chest to show his pain and indignity at this treatment. He was a poor, mistreated man and that sob he gave would surely drive that point home.
"Fine--! If space is what you want, my Captain, then I shall leave. Leave! Even though I only want to be of service to you. Farewell--! Goodbye, 'til next we meet--" Dramatics aside, one eye was kept cracked open through the whole show to watch for reaction, and his feet dragged ever so spectacularly after turning to 'leave'.
YOOOO YOYOYO YO HEY!!!! HEY MISTER GARBAGE KING!!!!! HEYYYYYYYY BRO WHAT THE FUCK
gloved fingers coiled into clenched fists; gepard sought refuge in the physical restraint, a semblance of control over the burgeoning vexation threatening to surface. the signs were subtle—a pair of narrowed eyes and tightly pressed lips—the only betrayals to the storm brewing beneath the surface. maintaining composure was of utmost importance, an unyielding commitment to the image and character befitting his status and title. “ as you correctly pointed out, understanding our boundaries is important, ” he responded, his voice devoid of any discernible emotion, bearing only the mask of neutrality. “ i strongly recommend you cease your current course of actions. otherwise, i cannot guarantee that our next encounter won't result in the encumbrance of your hands in restraints. ”
My, so serious. So disciplined. Keen eyes glinted beneath dark blue fringe as he dipped his head to watch the blond with a focus that contrasted his fidgeting and teasing tone. C'mon, Captain--live a little! Break down and act a little Foolish.
"So what I'm hearing is I can say what-ever~ I want 'til out next fun little rendezvous to get cuffed, huh? 'Course, color me curious, what's with the delay?" A sudden, dramatic gasp. "Did you forget your handcuffs? Why, you'd think a Captain of the Silvermane Guards would be better prepared. What would you do if a dastardly criminal got up to no good!"
"Oh, it really is a good thing you came upon ol' Sampo this day," he goes on and on without waiting at all for Gepard's reaction, which he is absolutely certain is to turn to one hundred percent absolute genuine gratitude after his next words. "Never worry--I can provide you with all your bondage needs. Cuffs, ropes, chains--I know someone in the business who can get you whatever you need!"
Raven can only watch in actual awe at the mans theatrics. The long, long silence after his first mutterings of a miracle could almost kill a man. It was a strike of amusement seeing the flashes of emotions going over his cellmates face until he repeated himself and the following muffled noise and vibrations have Raven jumping in his skin.
The commotion is heard far back and by the sudden deflated man, muttering to himself, Raven suspects that wasn't quite what was supposed to happen.
❝ aha - guessin' that was some grand plan ya had goin on? ❞
Raven shook his head. Couldn't believe this guy, honestly! Though maybe it could be Raven's lucky day after all...
❝ instead of card games perhaps two miracles can happen? ❞
"Me, have a grand plan? Why, friend, I am simply a devout believer in the Aeons and the mysterious ways in which they work." Also, grand plan would suggest one that worked. This--this was a highly unkempt and amateur plan, in which he had signed nameless talent. Not the good Nameless, either.
Still, his piety gave way to mischievous grin at the suggestion of a second miracle.
"Say, you must be a believer too to think of that! And I'm now reminded of another common saying--" A gloved hand, ever in motion and restless now takes a determined path, snaking beneath his collar to hidden pocket, pulling out a long thin and bent piece of metal. "--the Aeons help those that help themselves."
"You any good at picking locks, friend?"

But 'dangerously thin' meant it hadn't snapped yet, and wouldn't that be oh-so-fun to see the ever responsible, ever gallant and reliable Silvermane Captain break. What a sight that would be to behold--and what a smack those armored gauntlets would probably give him. As much as those lips curled up in predatory anticipation, he'd quite prefer to avoid any bruises and beatings still.
"Why, if I didn't test your patience, Captain, then who would? I am providing an invaluable service here--! It is very important we know where our limits are." A hand rests ever-so-sincerely upon his heart in emphasis with his words, a paragon of selflessness--for a moment.
"Should I send I send an invoice for my services later, or would you like to pay now?"
here to throw out a shipping/romance hc that ive been thinking about for. a couple weeks. lol
sampo--this one anyway--is aromantic! while he is a very romantic man, roses, knows all the words, there is ne'er a drop of sincerity behind it all. its just a game. an act. he's only here for the fun of it--& that's reflected in my own personal ship bias' in that i think putting him with gepard or serval is! hilarious. the tension between a criminal & silvermane caption or worse, the captain's sister is great. of course, it's always doomed to end in tragedy if there's any Feelings from the other side. sampo's just not capable of returning them, or wants to.
he'll flirt with anyone for the fun of it tho--the less into him they are, the funnier (to a point) tbh. getting a smack or a groan or rolling of eyes to his sappy words is peak comedy. as is the opposite reaction of making someone a blushing mess and, hell, sometimes the straight faced no reaction sorts can be amusing. the only sort that he doesn't like flirting with are the ones that get all sappy & sincere, especially if they ugh reciprocate. as soon as he realizes someone's actually into him, and they're not amusing enough to offset the Feelings, he'll ghost 'em. gone. he's not about that sappy stuff sorry

That had to be him. The likeness was unmistakable, even with creative liberties enforced. The two posters within his hands were shuffled together, folded and tucked away as his gaze fell on the target, currently peering out from underneath a trash can lid. A decent hiding spot to be sure (if you were five), but in a few minutes it would be pointless. From one corner, Wildfire was questioning various citizens. Another block over was a small group of Silvermane Guards, inspecting the area thoroughly. Both had the same goal, one incidentally that he shared as well and (un)fortunately the authorities were a few steps behind.
Oh well. Their loss.
Retrieving his phone, he put it up to his ear under the pretense of a conversation as he made his approach. With all the casual air one would expect from a mere passerby, he lowered his voice just as he passed by the trash can.
"Mr. Cold Feet should really change his name to Mr. Quick Feet, lest he finds himself in trouble with the authorities."
A coded warning of danger incoming. If this guy was worth the reputation, he'd understand the meaning no problem. He gave a quiet laugh as he returned to his false exchange with the imaginary by raising his voice once more to normal levels.
"Ah, well, I'll be waiting at the fountain for you then. Yeah, the same one that rich guy so desperate for friends always hangs around at. Don't sweat it, I'm sure you'll get the job no problem, then maybe you can show him how the rich actually make friends." Another message, the intention much clearer.
Now would the bait be taken? Only time will tell.
There seemed to be something of a misunderstanding, he pondered, fingers tapping against the rim of the trash can the Audience deemed he hide in (the woes of a patron Aeon of humor, you had to commit to the bit, and the bit was being Trash). Silvermane guards on the manhunt for him--yeah sure, whatever. Snow was cold. Wildfire on his tail? Oh he was going to have to have a chat with Nat later to see what that was about. He certainly hadn't done anything to harm the Underworld--not on a large enough scale to outweigh his use, that he made sure. There were still acts left in that play--
And it seemed he wasn't the only one playing a part in a grand play--here was someone auditioning for a role. Personally, he'd suggest a more subtle take on 'Playing the Bait'. Message received loud and incredibly clear. He gave a snort as he leaned back in the can, grateful for the spatial bend his patronage lent him that made it a much less cramped and awkward affair than for anyone not blessed by Aha.
He'd be a Fool to go. And a Fool he was! So he might as well get ready for his new date. Preparations to be made and all--couldn't show up as a trash covered scoundrel for such a public outing. While the Audience might find that entertaining as well, it'd be such an awfully short episode. The Audience needed a long form series for true amusement.

She meanders around the square, casually chatting with someone here and there, laughing at a joke she'd coaxed out of a Silvermane grunt and leaving after a friendly hand on his arm. This wasn't a persona brought out often, but since he wasn't laying low underground, it was time to play a different role. There--that fellow with the vibrant red hair was now near the appointed fountain and she milled around a bit longer to get a good luck at him.
"Hey there, handsome. Waiting for anyone in particular? It's awfully cold out here, don't you agree?"
"I do apologise but I am simply a Navigator....Autographs are a somewhat beyond any kind of duty that I adhere to." Ember eyes settle on his face as a bemused smile gracefully upon painted lip. It is amusing, to witness a fool so up close. Both within the literal and metaphorical sense, perhaps he thought her to be one herself. More likely, is the wish to see how close one can get to a flame before being seared irreversibly by it.
Either way, it is simple to leave such things alone and just enjoy the experience of bearing witness to mortal folly as a step above all. A leather bound hand raises to her chin as Himeko tilts cants her head to the man in question once more. "However I do believe I have heard of you."
A FOOL, Himeko is not. After all, there was speculation that it took a fool to kill the Trailblaze.
"You have made a name for yourself as well." Quiet fondness dips into her voice remembering how adamant her dear passengers were convinced of the man before her was someone Himeko should NEVER meet. It was quite the reputation that made this coincidence all the more enticing within the same way she kept a quiet guard. "Are you perhaps the one called Sampo?"
"Oh, me? I do hope it's all been good words--but in the case that it hasn't; I trust your ability to navigate those negative rumors and listen to only the truth, eh-huh." A goofy chuckle ends his ridiculous pun of sentence. Truly, he can only imagine the kind of reviews the Crew had given him--Cold Dragon Young? Negative. March 7th? Negative. The Trailblazer--now, they were an enigma. Who knows which hand stirred their opinions at any time. Either way, probably not great.
"Any reputation this humble goods dealer has surely pales in comparison to the accolades the masses sing about the woman who stormed Qlipoth Fort to prevent our wonderful planet from falling party to the IPC's forced debt recollection plan! --Are you sure an autographs off the table?" Maybe he was laying it on too thick--his voice was smooth as honey, sweet and sticky and too reminiscent of the flies and bugs that swarmed at its scent. Instead of waiting for another refusal--he didn't take Miss Himeko as the sort to change her mind quite so quickly--he drew himself up, hand on his heart, the other out in a 'stop' motion to cut off any rebuttal.
"No! No, you've refused and it's rude to push." Oh, what a man of class and manners. "My apologies Miss Himeko--let me make it up to you. Perhaps with, say, a date~? Eh?"
Raven gave little nods in agreement to all of Sampo's rambling. Clearly his dramatics didn't seem to bother Raven none, at least it never crossed over to his body language. He was definitely amused though, grin on his face.
❝ ooho, ya don't say! a tragic tale indeed. ❞
❝ I like the way yer thinkin', but 'fraid I don't got the highest of hopes. ❞
In their stroke of luck it didn't seem like these types of knights were the type to keep innocence locked away. Maybe a few days of 'good behavior' and they'd be on their way out the door. Raven crossed his arms behind his head and accepted a free night of relaxation.
"No hope? C'mon now, you've always gotta have hope--! Even in the darkest of days. Why, even now, a miracle could happen--"
He pauses, dramatic and solemn with his hand on his heart and his eyes directed heavensward, a statue of piety--for a few moments. Then his foot taps against the cement floor a couple times, the convict clears his throat: "--I said, why, even now, a miracle could happen--!!"
And there it is--the muffled sound of explosives, more feeling than noise as the building shakes and dust is disturbed. There's the not-so-distant noise of shouts and clanks of steel-toes boots against the floor as Sampo gives a triumphant twirl to face the outer wall--and deflates immediately upon the reveal of a pristine facade. This is what happens when you work with amateurs.
"Well. Guess it's someone else's lucky day. How d'ya like card games, friend?"
Raven hadn't spoken up during the new mans rather dramatic entrance but did watch with a cracked open eye in amusement. His arms crossed behind his head as he stays lounged in his spot with hardly a worry in the world. Only when the other plopped himself right down did he shift to sit cross legged with his elbows on his knees and hands in his lap, looking to his new mate. " hoh? Lil ol' me? "
" Nothin' special or nefarious, honest. Could say jus' in the wrong place, wrong time. " Raven scanned the features of the other man and took note. Not a familiar face in his books, but even trailblazing through the worlds even he wasn't bound to know every face. As sketchy as this one may be. " Yerself? "
"Say, we must be birds of a feather, us, here for the same reason. I was just minding my business, waiting for a buddy o' mine, when here come the guards outta nowhere, haulin' poor ol' Sampo away! Really, what's with the quality of law enforcement these days, huh?"
Easily came the wave of complaints and brushing off of personal responsibility as he gestured to drive his points home. He was just a poor, innocent man, and that hand on heart as he proclaimed such usually did very little to make people believe that. Especially as he gave a little glance at his wrist, as if trying to check the time right after. He didn't even wear a watch.
"Guess there's nothin' to do but wait 'til my innocence is proven." What a soulful sniff, and he extends his greatest sympathies as well. "Here's hopin' both our cases get cleared up, friend, and we're out in time before the Taverns close."
Truth was, there was no him. Nor was there any interest in completing such a pointless purchase. As expected of a scammer, the response is enthusiastic and keen to close the bargain. They're always the same. Looking for some cash and are more than willing to throw in some falsified deals that you'd probably be better off not getting if the product had any value whatsoever-
...Was this guy implying the product has a habit for spontaneous combustion? Safety concerns aside, whoever this was sure knew how to entice the foolish. If he were a duller man, he may have fallen for it.

Very easily actually. However, if he was gonna ruin this guy's day, a little assistance might be required.
"Hm... I bet if I bring this to their attention, they'll owe me one." Rolling over onto his other side, he searched for his own device. Thankfully it had merely fallen between the bed and the table at it's side.

Noticing he had been left on read, he gave a few more details before waiting for a response. What he got in return had him frowning. Here he was, giving such good info for free, and they expect more? Rude.
...Well. He had already put in some amount of effort into this, may as well keep going. At the very least, it would make his day more exciting. Returning back to the spare phone, he flicked over another message back to the scammer.
txt: actually, i'm a lil worried that won't be enough to get his attention :( txt: do you have any other things for sale?
His phone kept buzzing in his pocket, but it took a couple moments more 'til he could get to it--he'd caught miss Seele's eye while heading out and had to dip in an alley to hide. She looked to be in a foul mood and he had no interest in finding out why at the moment--if it were something other than a pounding (and not the fun kind) and a lecture, he'd hear from Nat or Oleg later. A few quick steps and a little patented Koski twist later and he felt safe enough to check his texts.
--Aw, bummer. Left the customer alone long enough to have second thoughts. This was why he preferred in-person marketing. This text schtick was solely for those few fools who'd click on any link they saw and open their wallet for any old garbage. He supposed it could still be salvaged, but honestly, the chance of sale after a targeted marketing ad failed? Low. Depressingly, horrifyingly low. Alright, fine, no loss except his time, he supposed. Now, what other trash treasures did he have a surplus of at the moment?

He tapped the side of his phone after he'd finished sending the messages. Wasn't sure about that description about the relics--he guessed that was close to accurate, far as he could tell, but that wasn't exactly the most romantic thing to sell. Oh well, too late. He'd see what reaction relics got--interest, ghosting, changing the subject--and go from there. He let out a dramatic sigh with the toll all this effort was taking on him. He hadn't even reached the mines yet to start shaking Viktor down yet.
