A very biased list based on what I perceived to be popular when I was a kid and of series that I loved - tell me if there’s a series from around this same time that you were obsessed with that I missed!

#Golden Compass/His Dark Materials #I was sharp enough to gather the whole ‘killing god’#and ‘touching each others daemons’ things at the time #but just dull enough to not think about the wider effects of those things (mostly the killing god part)#also the ending got me so fucked up that ever since then my favorite type of ending is a bitterswert one where nobody really wins #and love can only get you so far against the world at large #Philip Pullman my mans you went in so hard on that chip on your shoulder that it is a cornerstone of my storytelling and story enjoyment
