Reflection
Each project I have tried to explore a different style. The first was just a coloured dot, and in the shapes I experimented more with texture than colour. With the bus stop I tried to use no outlines on the body. Whereas party required a weighted black outline that took me a long time to get the hang of - which you may be able to see in the animation. I found it difficult to live up to the standard of my partner. But the close ups of the hand in the box and face were more successful. The warmonger used a boil throughout which I thought worked nicely although at certain points it looks too rough and other times too clean. What was really important to me on these projects was pushing the thinking and feeling of the characters in the animation. I feel like the pink dot works well in establishing a personality. Huegh had some thinking moments that really pushed the absent-mindedness of his character. It could have really been pushed if I'd had had him wave back and then look down at his case so the moment of realisation is clearer that the hand was his. The final film required a lot of research, as somebody lacking in fighting knowledge I looked through lots of fighting styles. As my idea changed so did much of the fighting - at one point I considered ending it with a martial arts style way of fighting, but towards the end found boxing a much more useful resource for this particular animation. Overall these projects have really helped me build my skills as an animator, I feel like my timing has really come on. And in general my understanding of the twelve principles is much better. But all of the projects could do with improvement, I have gotten a lot of good notes on where I can improve especially with the warmonger.
