There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you.
Egomet Regret
It is interesting indeed that all the wiser souls than me denounce, with fervent conviction, ‘that you will only regret the things you did not do.’ Such a hypothesis is loaded with idealism. For the real regrets, the truly deep and dark ones are those that come from an automatic reaction or outburst of emotions. These are passionate and yet no more true that the earth is flat. They are the moment when one loses themselves and is not within their considered reality. Such actions are instantly regrettable and, when not forgive, leave the most painful scars. As if some phantom had swooped in to steal your soul and leave you with a false and largely hollow vessel.
'You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the Spring, as you knew the river flowed again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person died for no reason'

Then the story was finished and I was very tired. I read the last paragraph and then looked up and looked for the girl and she had gone. I hope she’s gone with a good man, I thought. But I felt sad.
