People always say change takes time. It's true, but really it's people who change people, and then those people have to decide if they really want to stay the new people that they're changed into.

I was a mixed black girl existing in a Westernized Hawaiian culture where petite Asian women were the ideal in a white culture where black women were furthest from the standard of beauty, in an American culture where trans women of color were invisible. I was not represented in the media, but Beyonce and Destiny's Child validated me.
