kisato is spending his version of thanksgiving underwater with the sharks <3 bc fuck his clan ( i mean this very lightly. they're doing better but not enough for him to spend any holidays with them ).

Umi didn't use nets nearly as much as fishing spears, but he was familiar with how they worked. He'd seen the fishing boats in his home village using them quite often, so at least he knew the other's motions. He kept the excess of netting untangled and out of the way as more of it was hauled onto the dock. Unlike Kisato, Umi wasn't familiar with how heavy the nets usually were. He only expected an excess of fish.

So the two sharks were, understandably, quite a surprise. 

As soon as the catch was up on the dock, Umi stumbled back a step. He was familiar enough with sharks, of course, but he generally tried to keep a respectful distance. Kisato laughing about the situation helped.

They're going back in the water, right?

He knew plenty of fishermen saw sharks as a nuisance, which wasn't fair. They had to find food too!

the fish wiggle and flop in the net. the two sharks wringle feircely , disliking the fact that they were on land. a fault of their own greed , kisato thought as his laughter died down enough to answer his handy helper. ❝ of course! i never let them stay on land for too long. they're very fragile. ❞

kisato tosses his portion of the net to open up what they've caught. barely lifting his feet , he steps onto/into it and moves slowly towards the two sharks — careful not to accidently crush any fish under him. once he was close enough , he gently pinches the tips of their tails which makes them flail some but not like the usual crazy as seen with other people. in a swift motion , kisato pulls the sharks toward himself simultaneously by the edge of the dock.

❝ a word of wisdom , ❞ kisato briefly turns his attention toward the other whilst craddling one of the sharks close to his chest like a newborn baby. ❝ i do not reccommend handling them the way i'm doing it or they'll definitely bite you. ❞ turning back to the sharks , with a kiss to each of their heads , he sets them free back into the mildly calm waters.

it's not easy trying to juggle the nurse (shark) lifestyle along with the anbu lifestyle. heheh see what i did there?

with that post in mind — kisato sneezes like a quiet baby kitten on land ( 3 in a row ) and does bigger sneezes ( only 1 ) underwater heheh.

Umi followed his gaze to the fortress, recognizing it as a place he was very explicitly warned by locals to stay away from if he didn't want to get into trouble... including the people who lived there. But Umi was never one for hearsay. If the man in front of him was going to drown him or eat him or whatever it was the villagers were so wary of, the former shinobi would have to learn the hard way.

Umi gave a nod and kept the tension on the part of the net he was handed, pulling in more as it came his way. With his hands full, it was all he could "say" until their task was complete, but the stranger was right: it was getting heavier.

pull. reach , brace , and pull. reach , brace , and puuull. this motion is repeated several times , but with each one , kisato noticed that it was unexpectedly heavier than the last time he's done this. he wasn't sure if the other guy uses this method of fishing but the hoshigaki frequently uses the net for a multitude of reasons.

pocket change from the market ( not that he needed it but it was always nice to have ) , bait , and snacks. but this time it felt like he's caught more than that. and whaddya know. . .

a few more braced pulls and they've finally gotten the entirety of the net onto the concrete dock. behold! captured in it among the fishes were two three foot long tiger sharks. the sight of them makes kisato burst into a fit of laughter ( with a soft hic in between ).

❝ looks like we caught a couple of greedy girls! ❞
