Hello Blue Lock Tumblr! The following blog post is hopefully the first of many recording my thoughts on the Blue Lock anime and manga. It should be noted that these are my PERSONAL THOUGHTS on the series and should not be taken too seriously given I am a random stranger on the internet. If you agree with some of my thoughts: great! If not: also great! I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the series whether or not I personally agree with them. Additionally, this post is what one might call slanderposting; meaning I will be treating these fictional characters as if they are real football (or soccer for my fellow Americans) players. This means that there is a non-zero chance I talk about your favorite character in a negative light. I am all open to friendly debate but please take note now that none of what I say is targeted at you specifically. Naturally this post will contain spoilers for ALL OF BLUE LOCK including all anime seasons and up to the latest chapter (350) of the manga. If you are not caught up, I highly recommend doing so. I’ll give you a minute to do so.

Let’s start with some most recent events: Blue Lock Japan vs. France during the U20 World Cup.
First off, RIN BUMTOSHI SOLD BRO
Let’s be honest here, Isagi beat Hugo in that moment after being locked down the whole game. He manages to get a shot in to equalize and RIN BUTTS IN TO TRY AND SHOOT IT TOO. This ultimately leads to the ball hitting the cross bar, being picked up by Loki, who runs and scores to put France up 4-2, ending the game. This is almost entirely Rin’s fault. In this instance Rin showed that he has failed to grow during the time leading up to the U20 World Cup. If you remember, Ego gave all of the Blue Lock U20 players specialized training to do before the U20 World Cup began. For Isagi it was analyzing tapes and attending various matches across the world, Sendou had sniper training, Bachira taught children soccer, and Rin was sent to meditate with monks. You see, the issue Rin has is that his ego is tied with Isagi. He is so focused on all things Isagi and beating Isagi, that he has limited his ego to only being centered around him, not being the world’s best striker. In turn, this means that Rin no longer sees himself as the world’s best striker. He’s stopped believing in that. If he truly believed in that, he wouldn’t be so focused on beating Isagi because he would already believe he had. In that moment where Rin budges in to steal the goal to tie the game, he has abandoned his ego and ambition in becoming the best striker. This ultimately leads to him selling the game. These are points reiterated by Ego in the most recent chapter of Blue Lock (350). Thus, leading to this glorious moment:
I really don’t know what we expected. Rin did jack diddly squat the entire game, not to mention he just disappeared for most of the match against Nigeria. I will be the first to give him credit for that goal he had against Nigeria, but other than he just disappears. This man is a BUM!
Now, I would like to give him a little leeway here. While he is entirely at fault for missing the equalizer and thus losing Japan the game, I can’t let Aiku go unslandered. Best defender my ass.
I’VE SEEN BETTER DEFENCE FROM THE RANDOMS ON TEAM X BACK IN THE FIRST SELECTION.
AND THIS SORRY ASS EXCUSE FOR A DEFENDER ARYU IS PUTTING UP TONY SNELL NUMBERS BRO.
I know they’re different sports but you get the point.
FORMER NUMBER 2 IS ALL BRO HAS GOING FOR HIM.
And Nico isn’t safe either. Love the guy but he’s gotta do something. Bro’s out here acting like he still on Team Y after making a whole big deal about his new physique during the Nigeria game.
And we can’t talk about the France game without talking about Julian Loki and Vivian Hugo.
Honestly, I like Hugo a lot. He introduces this mindset that is an absolute antithesis to the one promoted by Blue Lock and Ego. He’s an incredible character who will serve to be a great mountain Isagi and Blue Lock will have to climb. However, who tf is he feeling with ts?
Why is he out here acting like he didn’t just admit he lost to Isagi bro???
Also, Isagi absolutely clocked Loki’s shit with this one
Loki hasn’t shown us any proof he isn’t just a pace merchant bro. He just runs really fast in a straight line 💀. Though, this might say more about Blue Lock’s defense than him but I already gave those guys their slander.
