Suzy Song (Irene Bedard) - Smoke Signals (1998)
Twenty years. That's how much time has passed since the groundbreaking 'Smoke Signals' ...
MORPHEUS
Yo! Sorry for the long ass wait. Here’s some hecking color designs I’m looking at for a character. Hope you like!
My dumb self posted this on my main instead of my art blog. Sorry peeps.
Quick thank you to all you wonderful people who liked my last image set.
You’re beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
So I’ve decided to share some behind the scenes work on a project I’m working on. Some character design mixed with actual animation. Hope you like.
So I found out I can draw dinosaurs.
Quick fan art of Hugo from the street fighter series. Hope you like it.
My first attempt at caricature painting. Definitely didn’t exaggerate the features enough, and my blending and painting skills need more work. I also need to add form to the hair. However, I still think it came out alright. Hope you can tell who it is, and if not then I need more work.
Trying out some more lighting effects on another character of mine. If any of you know my boi Dan this is his dad. Still thinking of some names but here’s his portrait. I also found some cool color thing that I added for no reason. Hope you like!
Another light study, got some feed back from the master the self so now imma try some new ideas. Hope you like my boi
I was thinking of some attacks for a fighting game and tried out some heavy punches. Hope you like it!
Struggle (storyboard & animatic)
So here’s an animated project I worked on during my semester. It’s a mix of an animatic and some storyboards. Nothing perfect due to time restraints but I think you might like it. Enjoy!
I tried to apply some @shacklefunk lighting to a character I’m working on. There’s something about shacks lighting that really appeals. It’s similar to cell shading in that there’s a clear separation between the lights and darks. The lights have a really great glow where they’re more saturated then the light. But you can see in their work that they always choose the right light colors. I’m not sure if they pick a saturated glow color that favors the light, favors the local colors, or mixes both, because you never feel like the light isn’t effecting or matching the local color of the character. The glow is so important because the saturation gives you more of an understanding of how the light works. I also think it’s has something to do with how shack uses layers. The section for light is marked with a solid, hard brush; which seems like it’s on top of the glow layer. This gives you both the effect of a hard, clear, light source, but also the smoothness of soft rendering that’s airbrushed. It sells the glow and brightness of the light, and can be used for warm lights and cooler lights as well. Shack is in my opinion a “renaissance” artist, or master of all traits. Besides excellent character design, they excel at mood lighting. The lighting they place on their characters convey moods and emotion very successfully. I could go on about this with work of theirs but I just wanted to apply some of what I learned from studying their work. As you can tell, I still have a lot to learn. Enjoy!
