COVID-19 Case at Cathedral

The Catholic Diocese of El Paso has announced one COVID-19 case among the student body of Cathedral High School

EL PASO, TEXAS – The Catholic Diocese of El Paso has postponed all sporting activities at Cathedral High School until further notice due to a student-athlete testing positive for COVID-19.

The Diocese has also indicated that parents of all athletes who were working out the same day as the as the affected student have been advised of the situation and recommended students be tested.

San Eli COVID Numbers Released

Numbers for San Eli have been released, finally. We feel that these numbers need to be released daily. We will work on that.

I do not know what numbers I can trust any longer. The City of El Paso, who unfortunately has taken the lead in all things COVID related, has admitted that they are double counting some of the testing administered – if you test positive for COVID-19 you will be tested several times and those numbers are added to the daily test count from the Public Health Department.

From San Eli, Socorro, and other municipalities, COVID numbers have risen. Testing for COVID has been expanded and we recommend getting tested, even if you feel okay.

The City and County of El Paso has finally shared COVID-19 numbers for San Elizario, and they are improving!

Our numbers are:

16 Active Cases within San Elizario City limits

45 Recoveries in San Elizario 

61 Total Diagnosed within San Elizario

These numbers are current as of June 1, 2020 – The City of El Paso Public Health Department made these numbers public today, June 3, 2020.

ACTIVE CASES ON THE DECLINE

While five new deaths are reported, active cases have fallen below 1,000. There is also a decrease in total hospitalizations and ICU numbers.

There have been five (5) new deaths reported. These are a lady in her 60s, two men in their 50s, a man in his 70s and one in his 90s.
