medoro headcanons (warning: quite long)
im very partial to medoro. in-fact, behind Arlecchino (ofc wifey is always #1❤️), he is my favourite character in lies of p. im also painfully aware i am likely the only medoro fan in all of everything ever!!
that won’t stop me from exposing everyone to my headcanons about him, though!
ive always envisioned medoro being quite tall and lanky. the sort of man who hunches his body out of habit to be closer to eye-level with those around him. like venigni, i also think he’s in his early to mid thirties.
he has terrible posture habits. specifically, i think he tends to ‘shrimp’ when sat down and writing. he’s a journalist and writer, i don’t think i need to elaborate further.
he gets cold easily but refuses to wear anything insulating, because it irritates his skin—or so he claims..
he has trouble taking care of himself, being so wrapped up in his vigilante work, and often requires personal reminders to do so.
he’s always wanted to interview geppetto but has never gotten the chance and probably never will. he’s too nice to ask venigni for the favour, because that feels like using him for his own gain
medoro isn’t dishevelled, but moving about Krat like he is, he does fail to keep a tidy and groomed appearance—not that he cares much for it.
FEATURES:
downy blond hair, prematurely greying from stress. texture is straight, flat like a board. neck length, dusts his shoulders—typically tied into a ponytail with a loose ribbon, gifted to him by Sophia.
pale green eyes, needs glasses to see (nearsighted), glasses are silver ‘straight temples’ with rounded rim, corroding brown at the edges, they’re wired (otherwise he’d lose them)
Oblong-oval' face shape. Hollow cheeks, droopy deep-set eyes, downward lips, aquiline nose, straight brows. willowy, slender figure, soft/no muscle, underweight. movements appear awkward and at odds with his height, lacks grace and finesse. shaves often. pale, does not go outside during the day much, would burn in the sun!
ulster cloak, faded black (going grey) in colour — on the longer side, reaches his knees. distressed from over-use, has been sown back together multiple times (faint mismatched stitching present). never not wearing this coat (even in warm weather). wears it for comfort, and to blend in
trousers are a button-fly, a-line loose fit. stained grey, brown splotches/deep red-brown splotches of blood that has refused to wash out, torn at the ends again from overuse
plain black boots, knee length. scuffed at the tips, worn soles, wrinkled. he owns one pair of shoes and that's these
plain cotton white shirt, faded red stripes turning pinkish. detachable cuffs and collar (often doesn't wear them, too much effort for him)
medoro to me, from the way he writes, seems quite optimistic—but not happy-go-lucky or totally oblivious to krat’s plight, obviously. he was (IS, don’t ask me how I feel about him being dead in canon) a very organised vigilante, who had good connections and a fantastic internal network of other like-minded individuals (discounting lumacchio of course…). he was sure he could incite change, even as he was dying, in a way he did so his efforts weren’t all in vain—the truth did get out in the end.
he’s blood-shy and feels faint at the sight of it. not a good trait for a man working in the business of ‘that’s a lot of corpses for a cover-up’. on the topic of dead bodies, he’s never managed to not throw up after seeing one.
he cannot do combat, he’s terrible at it. can’t even hold a sword without his whole arm shaking like it’s going to fall off.
he’s naturally approachable and friendly! i think he radiates an easy charm that makes him rather likeable, as long as you’re not an alchemist or a member of the workshop union or a monad (discounting Lea and Sophia) or Arlecchino or… his charisma is really just offset by the sheer amount of enemies he’s managed to make.
absolutely willing to throw himself into harms way for a friend. he’s just raring to go. has tried to multiple times with varying success (getting himself fired by trying to break news of Arlecchino’s existence…). not suicidal, but definitely always envisioned himself dying for a friend
he’s a terrible judge of character when it isn’t obvious from the outset. specifically because out of everyone he’s befriended (alidoro, sophia, venigni…), he’s also managed to befriend and be close with lumacchio (close enough to write one horribly sappy letter about his betrayal and how upset he was about it, as he was actively dying himself)
I have more, of course, but im going to stop here . i have no clue if anyone else likes medoro, or even if theres canon facts ive missed about him (or more accurately have forgotten about),, but yes.. love you medoro.. a lot of my other headcanons specifically relate to fics ive planned where he is a major (if not main) character,,
