Watching the Grishaverse fandom justify The Darkling activly trying to murder or destroy everything Alina loves because he was lonely is fucking wild.

I keep seeing people saying he was the only person who understands her for who she truly is when the entire point of Ruin and Rising is that he isn’t. All he understands is her power and all he cares about is how he can use it.

So many posts shaming Mal for ‘being mean to Alina when he didn’t get what he wanted’ but it’s apparently romantic af that The Darkling MURDERED THE CLOSEST THING SHE HAD TO A MOTHER because he didn’t get what he wanted.

I just really don’t think we read the same book.
