white ppl being able to like pin point their family origin down to like the city or town and for them to have records of their ancestry for hundreds and hundreds of years is an example of white privilege. being able to say that your great x 16 grandpa was a shoemaker in some remote village in Ireland is literally so crazy to me cuz so many Africans in the diaspora can’t even tell you their great-great grand parents names let alone where they came from. and it infuriates me to the core lmao

@ the Philippinx person - you have the privilege of remaining in your homeland. We don’t? Like you may have dealt with wave after wave of imperialism but you still had access to your families and your histories. We were purposefully separated from ours and made inhuman. There are obviously areas in Latin America and Africa where access to lineage remained in spite of colonialism but it’s clear we’re talking about a specifically diasporic experience
