Sam worked hard, very hard. And it was a struggle to do everything. A few times she went to class only to discover she hadn’t finished or even started her homework for that course. One time, she fell asleep in class after er long night working at the Orchid A Go Go. She started to wonder if she wasn’t trying to do too much at once. Before she knew it, her first term came to an end and after the final exams for that term, she waited nervously for her results to show on Foxbury’s online platform. She got a B for her term (and overall) GPA, due to one course getting a D, but then she got a B and two very solid A+’s. She sighed with relief. “Come on,” she thought, “I can do this!”
At that same moment, she got a call from Siobhan Scorrevole, the leader of the Rolling Tones who had become a good friend of Sam.
Siobhan: Hey hun, you got your results yet?
Siobhan (excited): Girl, that’s really good! You had to do so much at once, you should be very proud!
Siobhan (stern): You should be! And you should celebrate! So you’re coming with us tonight to the Narwhal Arms to have some fun!
Sam (actually feeling quite tired): But...
Siobhan: No buts, Sam. You’ve been all work and studies and no play for like an eternity. You even didn’t celebrate Harvestfest! We miss you, girl! It’s time you have some fun, dance, sing and drink with us. I’ll pick you up at 9!
Sam (giving in): I miss you guys too... I’m just so tired... But I’d love to hang out... Ok, fine, I’ll take a power nap and get ready.
Sam did take that power nap... and slept right until Siobhan rang the doorbell. So the ‘getting ready’ was actually quickly shaking up her curls, splashing some water in her face and spraying some perfume.
It was a pretty busy night at the Narwhal Arms. Sam chatted a bit with her friends and had some drinks at the bar. She felt good about coming and thanked Siobhan for making her. When she came back from the restroom, a young woman approached her and asked her for an autograph. Sam blinked a few times. Someone wanted her autograph? For real?
Luckily, the young woman, who’s name was Maaike, had a flyer for an event at Orchid A Go Go Sam would sing at. And a pen. As Sam was completely unprepared to sign any autographs. Maaikes look of adoration and gratitude as Sam handed her the autographed flyer, made Sam feel all warm and flustered. But it felt soooo good...
After Maaike had gone back to her friends, Sam stood there for a few more minutes, letting the experience sink in. This was nice, really nice. When she finally turned around, she saw Sidney Sloane standing there. She had met him a few times at the Orchid A Go Go, asked for his autograph and a selfie.
Sidney (smiling cheekily): So, Miss Rayne, was that your very first autograph?
Sam (still overwhelmed): Yeah, wow, I still can’t believe someone asked me for an autograph.
Sidney (still smiling): You’ll get used to it one day, so try to hold on to this feeling as long as you can...
Sidney (looking right into Sam’s eyes): It’s magical, right?
Sam (feeling her cheeks turn warm): Yeah, it sure is...
Sidney (suddenly looking away): So, well, I must go now. Enjoy you’re evening, Miss Rayne. I’ll see you around!
Sidney gave her a final charismatic smile and turned around. Sam couldn’t help but stare at his butt at his back as he walked away. “Yeah... I’ll see you around,” she thought dreamily.
