Transliteration: vāsāṃsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya navāni gṛhṇāti naro’parāṇi। tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇā- nyanyāni saṃyāti navāni dehī॥ 2-22

Hindi Translation: जैसे मनुष्य जीर्ण वस्त्रों को त्यागकर दूसरे नये वस्त्रों को धारण करता है वैसे ही देही जीवात्मा पुराने शरीरों को त्याग कर दूसरे नए शरीरों को प्राप्त होता है।

English Translation: As a man casts off worn-out garments and puts on others that are new, so does the soul cast off its worn-out bodies and enter into others that are new.

Karneshwar Temple, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra

In the 7th century, the Chalukya king Karna established his capital at Sangameshwar from Karveer, Kolhapur. Later, a large rampart was built around the village and temples and palaces were erected. The Basavas of the Lingayat community lived in Sangameshwar in the twelfth century, while Bijapuri ruled in the sixteenth century. In the 17th century, Sheikh Mukarrabkhan had imprisoned Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raja in Sangameshwar in an unconscious state.

The temple was declared a state protected monument by the Archaeological Department in 2012. It is not enough to appreciate the craftsmanship of the sculptors who built this temple. The surroundings of this temple in Sangameshwar are very quiet and beautiful. The temple is beautifully carved. The ancient sculptures of Mahadwar, Main Mandap, Nandi Mandap and Ashtabhairav, Dwarpal, Shankar, Dev-Danav, Yaksha, Kinnar, Nrityangana carved on the walls stand before us.

The area is known as Kasba Sangameshwar and beautiful sculptures can be seen in various Hemadpanthi temples here.

Train to Vrindavan

Here's the first chapter of Krishna x reader fic which you all wanted to read. Reader is named as Bhaishmi here because each time i keep (y/n) i read everything as 'y/n' but you can insert your own name here if you want or read it as Bhaishmi.

Chapter-1

I took a deep breath in and looked at my surroundings. There was a huge rush on the platform. My cousins were accompanying me on a trip to Vrindavan to celebrate Holi. Luckily, our school finals were over before Holi, and we wanted to go out somewhere without our parents accompanying us. My cousin brother, Ranvit had suggested planning for Goa, which we had to cancel before we even went to our parents to ask for permission.

Why? Do you even need a reason? Which Indian family would allow their sixteen-year-old children to go to Goa? My sister, Bhumi, only a year younger than me, suggested going to Vrindavan to celebrate Holi. The various festivities would satiate Ranvit’s adventurous side, and our parents were more or less impressed by our decision to go to a sacred religious site at this age.

Bhumi and I had binge-watched many documentaries on the grand celebration of the festival at Vrindavan. We knew we could never get a YJHD Holi celebration ever in our lives, but we could get to experience Vraj ki holi! Ranvit initially was against it, but the idea of Lathmaar holi caught his interest and he agreed.

“The train shall arrive within the next ten minutes,” declared Bhumi, her eyes glued to her phone.

Ranvit snatched her phone in his hands and kept it in his pocket. “Now, young lady, you have been staring at the phone for quite some while. You will get it back once we board the train.”

Bhumi glared daggers at him and huffed. “Excuse me! I am the one arranging all this, so I need to be kept updated about the train status.”

I chuckled and waved my phone at her. “I have Ixigo too, Bhumi. So you don’t have to worry so much. Besides, we are sixteen! We won’t be lost and certainly will not miss our train.”

Ranvit muttered something under his breath, causing her to glare at him even more.

“Hand me my phone now!” She demanded.

“Can’t hear you. Speak a bit louder.” Ranvit liked to pester Bhumi too much. All brothers love doing that. But both the brother-sister duo loved each other as fiercely as they fought and troubled each other.

A loud whistle diverted their attention from their fight. Our train had arrived and would halt within the next two minutes. Ranvit gave back Bhumi’s phone and held his suitcase. Bhumi and I took hold of our belongings and walked ahead to find our compartment.

We easily found our assigned coach and berths. The three of us sat for a while and looked outside the window. I looked at the people outside. Vendors were selling their goods, children asking their parents for snacks, people with laptop bags and large suitcases.

My eyes drifted towards Bhumi who was on a call with her mother, my maasi, to inform her that we had comfortably boarded the train. I texted my mother the same, and she replied to me with the thumbs up emoji and ‘ok.’

Ranvit was seated on the side berth. He kept his suitcase below his seat and removed his shoes and stretched his legs on the seat. Bhumi and I had the lower and middle berth on the left side. I was waiting for Bhumi to end her call with maasi so we could keep our luggage together.

“Haan mummy, we won’t accept food from strangers. I will take Bhaishmi with me when I need to use the bathroom at night and also make sure that Ranvit doesn’t gobble all the aloo parathas. Okay?” Bhumi rolled her eyes at me while Ranvit and I shared amused looks with each other.

Ranvit shook his head and snatched the phone again. “Mummy, don’t worry. I am ending the call now. We will call back after we get there.”

Bhumi clapped her hands and looked at me. She exclaimed, excitement evident in her tone. “Oh my God! I can’t believe this. We are really travelling by ourselves!”

“Chal chal, let’s first keep our luggage aside and then we will pinch ourselves to check if this is a dream or not,” I said and moved my bag towards the window seat and placed my suitcase under my seat. Bhumi kept her luggage beside mine and sat on the opposite berth.

She looked at Ranvit who had his earphones plugged in, and his fingers busy texting someone. There was a small smile on his face, and we quickly understood who was behind his smile.

I stretched my arms and sighed. I was really out on a trip by myself with these two. I knew that we weren’t on some adventurous journey, but even this excited me. Covid took away two years from me. I wanted to enjoy every second of this trip before joining school for the new session.

“God, where did the two mischief mongers go? Weren’t they just behind you, Arjun?”

For my non bengali cuties who don't have much idea on what Durga Puja is , this is a short post on what the festival is:

The Primal Mother Goddess(Devi) was summoned by the Gods because They were not able enough to kill Ashur(The Devil) who was wrecking havoc on Earth and She was provided with all the best weapons the Gods had, the Trident(or Trishul) being given by her husband, Lord Shiva.

Then She went to the battlefield armed with her weapons and her lion to fight Ashur. The battle went for a long time with the Goddess not being able to pin down the cunning shape-shifting Ashur. When the Ashur could not cope with the Goddess,he decided to take refuge in a bull, thinking that he will confuse Devi but She found him and cutting the bull's head open, pinned him down with her Trident , killing him instantly.

We can see in the picture that She is decked in bridal finery with other lesser gods and goddesses flanking her sides. That is because we Bengalis consider the Goddess as our daughter coming to visit the father's house after a long time. The Heaven being her husband and hers home and the Earth being her own home(her father is a mortal king). So when She comes ,She wears all her ornaments and comes with Her children,Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik(from left to right) and lives for ten days from Mahalaya to Dashami and we welcome Her like our very own daughter. ❤

Hey! I am not a hindu scholar but I have some doubts regarding shivling. I know it's obviously not any vulgar thing but can you please eloborate why it is called "ling". It is often used to bash hindus and troll them for worshipping a "male organ" and call them andhbhakts who worship a stone .

If you haven't seen the latest trolls on mahashivratri, take a look.

I know this already, I had been researching about this since mahashivratri and I found a legit answer. Many articles have manipulated a simple logic behind it to throw a shade at hindus who follow shaivism.

It is NOT EMBEDDED IN YONI, neither it is any male organ.

‘Shivling’ is a Sanskrit word which means ‘symbol/ representation of Shiva’ as the word ‘ling’ translates to ‘symbol/ representation’ only. Whereas ‘yoni’ translates to womb/vagina/species and 'shishin’ translates to penis , not 'linga’.

People think that it shows union of male and female genitals. But in reality , it shows none of them.

Below are the logical proofs-

A) Proof that it is NOT a male organ-

Jyotirlingas are the 12 most sacred and absolutely true Shivalingas because they are not man-made, they are made by Shiva himself. So these Shivalingas are prefect.

The above image is of Kedaarnaath JyotirLINGA . The word ‘linga’ is used , but does it looks like any male organ?

No, because it is NOT a male organ. Carefully observe it , it looks like Mount Kailash ; then also ‘linga’ is used because ‘linga’ just means ‘symbol’ and has no relation with any body part.

This is another naturally formed Shivling named Mahabaleshwar Shivling. Observe again ,it doesn’t looks like any organ , because it is not. This shape of Shivlinga represents the irregular shaped form of Shiva ( Shiva has many forms)

These are the naturally formed Narmada Shivlings. Look at their shape , they are ellipsoid. Male genital doesn’t look like it.

These are the most popular type of Shivlingas.

These kind of Shivlings (Such shaped Shivlings represent infinitely long light pillar shape of Shiva , which Shiva took resolve the arguments between Vishnu and Brahma) can also bee seen in temples and they don not look like any male organ since middle part of Shivling is octagonal and the base is square. Which human organ is octagonal ?

B) Proof that it is NOT embedded in yoni-

The base/ pedestal which uphold the Shivling is mistaken as yoni

Now please scroll up and look at the base of the above mentioned Shivlingas , they all are square shaped . And yoni is not square.

This is Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga , observe the base around it , again it is square shaped.

This is Amarnath Shivling , here there is no base/pedestal, only Shivling.

So this is the proof that Shivling neither show male nor female bodypart.

C) So if Shivling doesn’t shows any bodypart then why it is in such shape?

This form is only of a point light. This form of Shiva is known as ‘Paramaatmaa’( Supreme-Soul) form so ancient saints imagined this form as a small light flame and they made it into stone . 

Now check the shape of small light flame

same shape as shivling:

Such shaped Shivlings are most common Even some of the Jyotirlingas are of similar shape.

D) Then why pedestal is important?

Pedestal/ base is used only for three purposes-

To provide water drainage in one direction , hence keeping the nearby area clean.

To provide stability to the ellipsoid shivling

To keep shivling vertical , because light flame is always vertical. Nothing more than this.

Therefore in Amarnath Shivling it is not there because all the three points are fulfilled by nature itself.

E1) Some more proofs-

Calling Shivling as a symbol of creation by union of male-female is senseless, because these rocks , mountains , oceans etc . cant be made by male-female union. So by being human organs, it can’t symbolise universal creation. And there are organisms which reproduce without mating (male-female union).

E2) Scriptural proof -

Shiv Lingaashtakam is a prayer written specifically for Shivling by Adi Shankaracharya. And if you read it, its last line says-Sanskrit -’’Paraath Param Paramaatmak Lingam, tat-Parnamaami Sadaa Shivlingam ” which says that Shivling is representation of Supreme-Soul (Paramatmak) form of Shiva.

And ———

Shiv Puran (Gita press Hindi) : Book page number- 41–44; speaks about infinitely long bright light pillar called symbol (linga) of Shiva. And it does not say anything related to human organ 

So this proves that true Shivlings do not represent any human organ.

My dear Indians, have you ever questioned yourself why we never get taught about our vedic/indic theories during the british raj ? Nope! We obsequiously followed up the syllabus which was penned by Missionaries, and Britishers who were intended to undermine the Indic Values.

When Britishers left, their legacies are now being carried out by desi flunkies of west whom we think as intellectuals.

P.S. It's also very ridiculous when the social class of a person is decided by his fluency in spoken english.

I am so glad you found the person who found out abt atoms.

I already knew Indians knew about atoms. I learnt carnatic music and in a keerthanam composed by Annamaachaarya in raga bowli, a line went like:

paramAtmA paramANurUpa shrI tiruveNkaTagiridevA sharaNu

which translates to:

"The supreme soul, who is the shape(size) of an atom, Oh Lord of Thiruvankata mountains, I fall at your feet"

You see the atom? Yes, we knew about atoms a long time before. So, Annamaachaarya is thought to have lived during 1408-1503, which is already 200 years before that white guy "found" atom. So obviously, atom was discovered years ago by Indians.

And yet, no credit for Indians. But then again, white ppl considered themselves greater than Indians and continue to do so. Let me end this with a quote.

See the issue here is, all of this is mentioned in absolute passing, glossed over, skipped, and never asked in exams. There's two whole pages about Indian contributions in a chemistry chapter in class eleven. No one reads it. That's the problem. Teachers aren't interested in teaching it and students in learning it.

Supposed "Pythagoras" theorem, quadratic formula, squaring the circle, Euclid's lemmas and so many more stuff in mathematics were found by Indians back when the west didn't know what counting was. But of course it's all overlooked by them AND us. I myself didn't know much until I accidentally came upon the book Indian Mathematicians and Astronomy: Some Landmarks by S. Balachandra Rao (recommended if you want to know about our history in maths apparently the years in all the four yugas were calculated back then)

not so friendly reminder with diwali coming up that the swastika (swuhs-theek-ahh) is of vedic origin, and it's a symbol of well-being, auspiciousness, and prosperity in hinduism, jainism, and buddhism. it's still common in nepal, mongolia, china, japan, and, most famously, india.

it's been around since 500 BC, and germany appropriated it, making it a symbol of hate.

the symbol on the right? THIS is not offensive. it's stolen culture. please be fully informed before you make any accusations this upcoming holiday season.
