I’m sure this has been postulated somewhere else by smarter people but it seems to me that girls teams at all levels and in all sports do better than boys is because field hockey/ice hockey/soccer/basketball/volleyball/etc etc aren’t considered default girl activities the way football and baseball are for boys.

So they’re on average more driven and more talents because it was a deliberate choice at every step.

I voted permanent standard time in that poll but to be honest, I think the system we have now is fine. A 5am sunrise in summer is fine and a 5pm sunset in winter is whatever.

Of course this sentiment may just be because I’m used to it and as an annoying morning person, we got enough sun in the AM.

I think being actively rude to customers has to be done VERY sparingly or you’ll get in hot shit and accomplish nothing positive and it’s just not good for the psyche.

Abilene is the main example here for its extreme concessions for the data center. They’re required to have a staff of at least 57 at the end of this, a ratio between the building and the running of 70 to 1. The data center only pays 15% of its property taxes for ten fucking years.

At least the rise in cost of living from the temporary population should go down, along with the sales tax revenue they brought. Each data center brings a boomtown scenario but it never lasts long.

It baffles me when people get angry at me for making a reference or using a phrase or word they don’t know. Because I assumed it was common? So it’s rude to say something and not explain it?
