I saw some of these posters of Chris Consani in one restaurant yesterday and really liked the idea to bring back to life together legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, James Dean and Humphrey Bogart.
An amazing campaign.
Rīga has always been the big boy of the Baltics - a metropolis with a big-city atmosphere hard to find elsewhere in the region. Funky and vibrant, it pulsates with a magnetism that traps travellers long after their planned departure date. Set on a flat plain divided only by the 500m-wide Daugava River, the city answers the quaintness of Tallinn and Vilnius with impressive Art-Nouveau architecture of its own, a historic old quarter and large parks. You won't want to leave once you're settled into a candlelit bar or lost on winding, sun-dappled or snow-covered cobbled streets.
I received my scholarship today and decided to invest in a new camera since mine got stolen in Dublin and this made me look through some old photos I took a few years ago on the way to peak Ruen, Osogovo mountain :)
Bon Jovi in Sofia, Bulgaria
The American rock band Bon Jovi started the European part of their Because We Can tour in Sofia on 14th of May. The concert happened at the National Stadium "Vasil Levski" where hundreds of fans from every generation gathered. The stage set was first built in Sofia and it is a huge front of a vintage car - a convertible.
"Do you like our new car? I'm gonna name it Sofia!" said Jon Bon Jovi himself and yeah... the public went wild.
Around 20:46 the car went and took the public on the journey starting with "That's What The Water Made me", a song from their new album 'What About Now' , followed by You Give Love a Bad Name, To Be My Baby, Raise Your Hand, When We Were Beautiful и It's My Life and etc...
Unfortunately, two hours later Bon Jovi had to stop the concert due to visibly exacerbated allergy. 'This is really embarrassing... This is not like me...", apologized Jon and ended up the concert with one last song "Dead or Alive". Even though the end was not as spectacular as the public expected and without a bis I can honestly say that this concert was one of the best I've ever been to.
On the official Facebook page of the band was published a photo of the stage and message from Jon Bon Jovi to his Bulgarian fans : "Dear Sofia, Loved seeing you and being in Bulgaria. The welcome you gave us was one for the record books. You were the first to see our brand new stage which we have nicknamed "SOFIA" - we look forward to driving her all across the globe. As some of you may have noticed my allergies got the best of me after the acoustic set approximately 100 minutes into the show and caused us to cut it short after 2 hours. I'm doing all I can to see that this is prevented in Vienna and future shows. See you down the road -JBJ"

The government has introduced a new tax which will affect anyone who is on benefits and owns a spare bedroom. Thousands of Manchester citizens have organized protests ever since.
AROUND THE WORLD WITH BIKE
In 2011 a young South Korean man called Jeong Hwan Kim decided to leave his routine and to take the adventure of his life: to travel the world with only his bike and a backpack. Sick and tired from everything, with a dream about a different world, he decided that it is just the right time to do the impossible. He quitted his job as a teacher, took the train to Russia and started a once in a lifetime experience.
Starting from Russia (the Trans Siberian), he cycled through 26 countries, including Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal.
On the question if it is getting tiring and how he is coping with hard situations, like bad weather, he answers : "It is getting tiring. It's difficult to be positive all the time. But I try. Because even if I decide to worry about my problems, even if I start to get depressed about them, it won't help me at all. I still have many problems. So it's better to be positive, keep calm, see what's going on around me."
He has been on the road for more than two years now and this inevitably brings the question how he sees the future. Kim doesn't like to think about it. So far he is trying to find a boat with which to continue his dream: to reach every corner of the world and to meet as many cultures, people and adventures as possible. His next stop will be South America.
A journey like this takes a lot of courage but simultaneously it comes with a lot of inspiring moments and good memories. The biggest surprise for Kim were the people: he still cannot believe how many of them opened their homes for him and shared their food; how many helped him in every possible way and how much he has learned from every single encounter on his way. This inspired him to come up with the idea of the 'I love you' videos: he films people from every single country saying 'I love you' in their native language:
His message to the world is: "I want people to open their heart more. They may not change the world. But they can change themselves. And the world will be changing. And especially I want young people to try more. Don't be afraid, and don't give up before you try. You can always find a chance, as long as you try. Just try."
You can't meet a person like Kim everyday. Cycling the world with bike is not for everyone. But he dared to follow his dream and hit the road and this is a motivation big enough for everyone to see that it is just a matter of will and desire to accomplish everything you set your mind to!
Over 10 000 students from across the UK took part in a national demonstration, called #Demo2012 in London on Wednesday, November 21. The protest was against government cuts, university fees rises and high youth unemployment.

Saint Patrick's Day In Dublin
As a person coming from the other side of Europe, I have always wondered what is that Irish green celebration all about. Well, this year I had the chance to experience the world-famous Saint Patrick’s Day at first hand in Dublin.
There are a lot of signs to understand that it is the Paddy’s weekend in Dublin – from the offer in the tattoo shop window for a discount on all shamrock tattoos to the green-white-orange fluffy hats showing up from every corner.
The Saint Patrick’s festival takes place over several days and includes a parade, family events, live music, and the part that I enjoyed the most, a céilidh: where hundreds of people gather for traditional Irish folk dancing in the streets!
The parade goes through the main streets of the city and this year was attended by more than 500 000 people from all over the world - dressed in green, wearing funny hats and face paint.
As controversial as it is, St Patrick’s Day marks the official day of the patron saint who brought Christianity to Ireland, yet, it is better known as the day to drink copious amounts of the symbolic Guinness beer and celebrate Irish culture.
Saint Patrick’s Day was marked in skylines across the world as part of the Tourism Ireland global campaign to floodlight landmarks green at night. This year some of the landmarks that went green for the occasion were the pyramids of Giza, the leaning tower of Pisa, Niagara Falls, the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking Rio and etc.
Of course, landmarks in Dublin went green as well, portraying traditional Irish symbols such as shamrocks and leprechauns.
It doesn't matter from which part of the world you are - the Irish culture is so rich and enchanting that you can't remain indifferent.
Manchester Reclaimed the Night
Under the slogan ‘Light up the city- Take to the streets – Reclaim the night’, Manchester took part in the 32nd edition of the annual ‘Reclaim the night’ march to demonstrate women’s right to walk the streets at night free from sexual violence, street harassment and assault.
The march was organized by the Manchester University’s Students Union. It was a creative event, full of color, neon lights and witty posters which continued with an After party with only-women performers such as Misha B, SHE Choir and others.
A survey by More Magazine found that 95% of women don’t feel safe on the streets at night, 73% worry about being raped, and almost half sometimes don’t want to go out because they fear for their safety.
The recent events in Salford, where 3 women were sexually assaulted in the space of just 20 minutes, are just an example of how serious the issue is.
Nadine Mirza, student at University of Manchester expressed her view:
Another worry for the campaigners is that of funding cuts for services that provide support for women victims of sexual violence. Between 2010 and 2012 there was a reduction from 7.8m to 5.4m.
Karen Harison from ‘End the Fear’ campgain said:
In a recent Amnesty International survey, 26% of the population said a woman should be held wholly or partly responsible for rape if she was wearing revealing clothes.
A woman is not supposed to live in fear of violence and should never be blamed for it - no matter if she decides to wear a mini skirt or a burqa. And this was the main message of the march: "Whatever we wear, wherever we go, yes means yes and no means no."
