TIL that the first woman to run for President of the United States was Victoria Woodhull in 1872, 50 years before women could vote. She had Frederick Douglass as her running mate, and spent election day in jail due to being arrested for obscenity.

This Game We Play - Franck Bohbot
Franck Bohbot is a french photographer and filmmaker, who lives and works in New York. He is a documentarian with an eye for the theatrical who found his way to photography by way of cinema. Although he turned his focus fully to photography in 2008, beginning his career as a unit still photographer on short film sets, the formal and aesthetic influences of the cinematographic form unsurprisingly continue to underlie his present work. Bohbot’s photographic work inhabits a space between reality and fantasy, documenting and storytelling, every frame—to borrow a phrase from Nan Goldin—like a still from a nonexistent film. - from his website

Vancouver-based architectural photographer Andrew Latreille shares his Then and Now exhibit with the world at the Venice Biennale 2018. His work is featured in the exhibition, TIME SPACE EXISTENCE ( till November 25) organized by the GAA Foundation.
“Then and now is an ongoing photographic exploration. It looks into juxtaposition. Into what happens – and what results – during the making of architecture. It outlines the creation, and shows the finished work,” explains Latreille. “We are digesting architecture more than ever before but have little understanding of the process, how long it can take, how intricate it is, or the numerous people involved in making it.”
