So I heard the theme for Qrow's arc this volume is "pespective" and I swear if Miles tries to push some "well actually Clover dying wasn't my fault" bullshit after Qrow willingly teamed up with a serial killer who nearly killed him and tried killing Ruby I will be completely done with this shitshow.
Honestly, what's extra concerning about this potential theme Qrow could "learn" is there's no way for it to not be shitty or leave a sour taste.
If he decides it was Clover's fault entirely, he's just going to take away: "Well this is what I get for ever trusting someone again, after everything that's already happened to teach me to never trust anyone again. I deserve this for making the same mistake repeatedly and hoping for a new outcome."
If he decides it was his own fault then he'll probably end up thinking: "Well this is my fault for trying to be around people. I should know better by now, I'm just bad luck. Not even the luckiest person alive could survive being near me." (Which he already thought his entire life but now on steroids cuz of implications that lucky man also couldn't survive him)
If he determines it to be Tyrian's fault, what more could he possibly learn? "The serial killer working directly for the Main Villain that already tried to kill my kids and poisoned me ALSO killed my new friend who was probably the only person would could ever understand my semblance and relationship with it, and it's my fault for not successfully beating him the first time, let alone the second or third times facing him. And now he's loose again. And framed me for my friend's murder." ??
If he determines it as Ironwood's fault, what could he really learn? "Dammit James, your soldier died following your shitty orders that are gonna get a bunch more people killed." He already thought Ironwood was making a horrible mistake with declaring martial law, Clover dying and Tyrian escaping on top of that is just overkill.
And if he decides it was all their faults, then what? Legitimately what message is he supposed to be fucking learning here? All of them come out to at least him easily blaming himself in addition to the others involved, if not taking all the blame. This just sets up a precedence for him to fall back into the cycle of self-loathing that he never even really escaped, on top of the timing being right after he started to get sober which is already incredibly difficult to do under normal circumstances.
7x12 was literally just punishment of Qrow and Clover for no reason that'll have no real worthwhile payoff, esp during a season when the literal theme was to "Trust Love".
In light of the newest episode,
Amazing to see they went both the Qrow "my fault for assuming I could be around anyone" AND Clover "He wouldn't let up so I was a fool to trust him" routes. And here I was worried that Qrow wasn't gonna learn anything from this awful experience that he hasn't already had beaten into him his entire life /s
And to add injury to insult; "The thing that really stings..." oh, the fact someone with Good Fortune died is more important than the person themself dying? Crwby, you're seriously telling us Qrow is more upset about "Clover not being the exception finally" than he was about "Clover as a person and friend being dead"? After Qrow himself has been seen as nothing more than his semblance his entire life he's literally doing the same to Clover? And to end it as "now it feels like a childish dream" TOWARDS THE IDEA OF BEING HAPPY???? THIS IS QROW'S BIG LESSON???
Oh and to sneak in Qrow smiling happily at the pin (finally clean of blood at least) in this same scene? Really?
You know, this isn't even just a disservice to Qrow, Clover, fair game, and their fans in general, but to Robyn too, who has been stripped of her role as a strong leader and is now being the sponge for the emotional pain of a man she doesn't fucking know!
Incredible! What terrible writing! Why am I even surprised
