Thoughts: This moodboard was meant to include a full fic with it, but I'm no longer inspired to write it. However, I figured that it's never too late to share the moodboard that I created for the fic idea. And who knows, maybe someday someone will be inspired to write the fic so I don't have to!
This fic idea is mostly composed of a single scene in my head right now, but basically, it's a canon divergent season 1 AU. Beverly brings coffee to Will's lecture hall, not knowing that he has been hospitalized for encephalitis, and encounters Alana preparing to cover his class for him, instead. Alana is the only one who's been informed of Will's state, so she has to be the one to break the news to Beverly. They end up having a conversation about Will, which turns sour when Beverly picks up on Alana's "professional curiosity" and her (unintentionally) patronizing attitude towards him in general, which rubs Beverly the wrong way. Their tense conversation is broken up by students coming in for class. Beverly ends their conversation in a less warm way than she started it and leaves, which leaves Alana confused, upset, and disgruntled and throws her off her game at the start of her lecture.

Alana ends up thinking about her interaction with Beverly all day. While she's always known that her attitude towards Will isn't exactly the healthiest, until she is faced with Beverly's bluntness and distaste towards how she views/treats him, she never fully understood or realized what aspects of it are an issue. After a lot of thought, Alana visits Beverly in the lab some days later near the end of the workday and apologizes for the way that their previous conversation went and asks if Beverly wants to go for drinks after work sometime. It's the first step towards Alana changing how she views Will, and also the first step to Beverly and Alana's relationship warming back up. Where the fic goes from here and just how canon divergent it ends up becoming is up to the writer.

Snippet 1:
Alana Bloom was sitting at Will’s desk in his lecture hall, frowning and trying to put together a semi-cohesive lecture for his students with very little notice, when she was interrupted.
“Dr. Bloom?”
Startled, Alana jerked her head up in the direction of the voice. Class wasn’t supposed to begin for another fifteen minutes, and she was woefully underprepared to answer any course-related questions any inquisitive student might have. But thankfully, her unexpected visitor was not a student. It was Beverly Katz from the forensics unit, clad in her usual maroon leather jacket, dark clothes, and black boots, with a cup of coffee in each hand.
Alana brushed her hair away from her face and tried on a smile, hoping she didn’t seem too frazzled. “Agent Katz. What can I do for you?”
Beverly stopped a few feet away and gestured with one of the paper cups of coffee. “I was bringing coffee to Will. Is he...?”
Alana bit her lip. Damn. If Beverly was asking, that meant that the news on Will’s state hadn’t reached the forensics team yet, which was odd. Given that Alana had received two calls that morning, one from Hannibal and one from Jack, she had made the assumption that everyone else would be informed as speedily. Clearly she had been wrong.
“Will is in the hospital,” Alana said carefully.
“Oh my god.” Beverly’s expression went from mild confusion to strong concern and shock. “What happened?”

Jack’s call was to ask if Alana could cover Will’s classes for the foreseeable future and fill her in on the very basics; Hannibal’s was to cancel their dinner that evening, as he didn’t want to leave the hospital until Will’s condition had stabilized.

My favorite Hannibal rarepair is Molly and Reba (known as McFoster), and my favorite headcanon for them is that they meet for the first time after Will’s and Hannibal’s disappearance post-s03. They bond over having fallen in love with murderous men without their knowledge (Will and Francis Dolarhyde), and also being some of the only people in the world who understand what the other experienced. They fall in love slowly over time, helping each other heal and to learn how to live semi-normally again. They take their relationship very slow, and Reba doesn’t push Wally in any way to accept her as a parental figure or important person in his life. This ironically helps Wally accept her presence in his mom’s life faster, and he ends up liking her a lot more than he did Will and also really appreciating how much she’s helped his mom heal. Molly and Reba also take care of the dogs together. Whether Molly keeps and continues to take care of all of Will’s dogs; keeps only some of them; or rehomes all or most of them because they remind her of Will and the trauma she experienced during her relationship with him (and because of him) is up to the writer. Any of these combinations work, but I imagine Molly having some dogs regardless of how many of Will’s dogs specifically she keeps. (You can see some examples of how I’ve written Molly and Reba’s dynamic and relationship together in Sweet Ophelia, Snapshot, and Abstract Angels.)
This specific fic idea is super simple: it's a huge helping of domestic fluff. Molly and Reba assist Wally with pumpkin carving and then toast pumpkin seeds and bake pumpkin muffins with the leftover pumpkin together. In the late afternoon, they get into Halloween costumes (bonus points if they're wearing family and/or couple's costumes — I picture Reba in a vampire costume as a nod to her actor Rutina Wesley's role in True Blood, and Molly as a werewolf, because who doesn't love a good "forbidden romance" between a vampire and a werewolf?) and go trick-or-treating (bonus points if the dogs also have their own Halloween costumes!) That's all there is to it: just some tooth-rotting fluff!

This fic idea is mostly composed of a single scene in my head right now, but basically, it's how I could see a complicated antagonistic Enemies With Benefits (EWB?) relationship developing between Beverly and Freddie. It opens with a scene where Beverly leaves the bar after spending some time there after work with Zeller and Price, and she finds Freddie waiting for her next to her motorcycle. Their antagonistic banter and dialogue in this scene are mean to set the mood for the rest of the fic. I imagine that the rest of the fic is made up of other encounters between them: just like Freddie is known to show up in inconvenient places to accost Will in canon, I imagine the same for her and Beverly. Freddie always has inappropriate questions to ask about crime scenes and ongoing investigations, which Beverly always shuts down, but their chemistry is undeniable. Eventually, after Freddie finds Beverly in a bar after a particularly tough case (maybe after Will is incarcerated?), they drink together and then fall into bed together. What was supposed to be an ill-advised one-night stand, however, turns into regular hookups and complicated feelings on both sides. How far you explore their relationship dynamic and whether or not you want to follow the tragedy of canon re: Beverly (both would be very interesting!) is up to you.

Beverly was suddenly very glad that she had left Brian and Jimmy to their usual squabbles and headed out early; the last thing she wanted was for Brian to have to face Freddie Lounds again. She didn’t know if Brian even remembered telling her and Jimmy about the whole thing, as he had been pretty drunk at the time. He hadn’t brought it up at all since then, so it was entirely possible that he didn’t.

Callisto
Callisto awoke to golden hair and white feathers flooding her vision. She felt Evangeline stir against her chest, nuzzling closer as Callisto shifted. Evangeline. In her bed? No, this wasn't her bed, this was-
Then she remembered.
They were married now.
As the memories of the day before returned, her back stung slightly from where Evangeline's nails had raked across her skin. But, oh, it was so worth it. Giving Evangeline that much pleasure. She found herself growing warm just thinking about last night again.
Kissing the top of Evangeline's head, she attempted to de-tangle herself from her wife, if only to check the time. But her wife's grip was stronger than it looked and her wing acted like a cocoon around them.
"Evee, treasure, it's time to wake up." she said, rubbing Evangeline's back. Gods, that's right. Neither of them had even re-dressed after their previous exertions of the night before. Did she even realize what a glowing temptress she was? With her silky smooth skin, muzzed up golden curls, and sleepy doe-brown eyes?
Brown eyes that only emphasized her adorable pout as she looked up at Callisto. "Five more minutes." she mumbled before smushing her face against Callisto's breasts.
Which, as enjoyable as that was, couldn't last. Not if Callisto didn't want her resolve to break completely. So she untangled herself as gently as possible, willing herself not to return to her now whining wife and the comfort of warm blankets. Thankfully her body had still woken her shortly after dawn so she could linger in the shower. She'd certainly miss this. Waking up beside her wife. A warm and comfortable bed. Showers in general.
Though her thoughts kept returning to how much she'd miss the woman in the room just beyond the closed door.
She stayed in the bathroom as long as she was able. But after drying off and dressing in the clothing she'd brought in with her, Callisto had to leave eventually. Half of her hoped to find Evangeline fallen back asleep in bed.
Instead, she found her wife sitting at the small table by the window. Food had been brought up by the servants, it looked like, as a tray of tea and breakfast sat atop the table. However, Evangeline had yet to touch a thing, as she was faced away from Callisto, seemingly lost in thought with her gaze fixed on the window as the sun rose over the mountain range. She'd put on a robe, at least, though it hung loose on her small frame. Her wings were the only hint at her mood, tense and still, held high on her back.
Callisto came up behind her, stepping between her wings to wrap her arms over Evangeline's shoulders. Kissing the top of her head, she murmured into her wife's hair, "I'll be back before you know it. With any luck, the war will be done within a few months. Hantis isn't that powerful compared to all the armies of the alliance."
She felt Evangeline's hands wrap around hers, heard her shuddering sigh.
"I don't want you to go."
Her heart cracked.
Those few words seemed to break a dam in Evangeline. Words spilled from her lips as tears fell down her cheeks. "It's selfish, I know. It's not fair to you, and I don't want to hold you back. Everyone else is marching off to war, too. We're not the only couple that's going to be separated right now and-"
Callisto hugged her tighter as sobs shook the smaller woman in her arms to the point she'd lost her speech. It took every ounce of willpower she had not to cry herself. But she needed to be strong. For Evangeline. For her people. For everyone. Her own feelings didn't matter right now.
Task first, emotions later.
"It'll be okay." she murmured. "I'll come back to you. I promise."
Author's note: eventually I'll change this scene to instead be longer and ending with Callisto riding off and Evangeline watching from the window; but right now I'm more motivated to write the whump of the next bits than angsty scenes, so this is what we have for now, lol
Author's note: finally, the wedding day! I didn't have as many prompts to fit this day, so there's not much, but I'm so happy with how this turned out with the next couple new and edited bits.
Callisto
The moment she saw Evangeline across the room from her, Callisto had to remind herself to keep breathing. It took longer than it should have to realize Papa was the one escorting Evangeline to the middle. Custom dictated the noble being wed into a family be the one given away by their own. But since hers was… well, who they were, none of the royal nobles of Golatis had even decided to show up for the wedding.
She knew that didn't bother Evangeline. If anything, the lack of her family's presence had eased her fiance's nerves significantly. However… the old wounds of loss for her brother had broken Evangeline down to tears more than once as the wedding drew closer.
Now, though? Seeing Papa take up that role, as well as the happiness and peace that radiated off of Evangeline? Callisto was hit with a wave of emotion. So, instead of accepting a simple kiss on the cheek from her father, she pulled him into a hug, whispering, "Thank you."
He pulled away from her eyes speaking more than his words could. After warmly clasping Evangeline's hands with his own, Papa sat down with Mama where they held hands, with heads high and tear filled eyes.
Attention fixing back on Evangeline, she had to resist her knees giving way as they went weak. The very picture of a glowing bride, Evangeline was adorned in a dress made of red and gold. Colors that she loathed, but still looked stunning in. As Callisto took in the design, she realized it was the same pattern on the handkerchief Evangeline had gifted her as a favor all those months ago. And… subtly, on the edges of the pattern and the seams of her dress were all hemmed with blue thread. Not bright, like the bouquet of forget-me-nots she held. A darker, deeper blue like the tanzanite gems in their matching tiaras.
The ceremony passed by in a blur. All she really remembered, besides her anxious nervousness not to mess up, were their vows. Both of them had remained relatively brief with their planned speeches. And Evangeline's filled her with warmth from head to toe.
"Callisto, I've loved you since the day we first met." the avian said, grasping her hand tight, eyes fixed on her chest as her cheeks dusted pink. "I met you in a moment of quiet and kindness. Since then, I've seen many sides of you. Some frustrating, others endearing. Throughout it all, it never seemed a possibility we would someday wed. And now here we are." A faint, unsure smile came over her lips as she looked up to meet Callisto's eyes. "And so I now promise to take you as you are. To stay with you through good and bad. No matter what troubles come out way, I will be with you. Always."
Her mouth had gone dry with Evangeline's first words. So as her bride placed the wedding band on her finger, she re-evaluated her own vows. They'd promised to stay true in them, not to make up anything for the crowd watching and listening so intently. To bring an end to their ruse, so to speak. After all, Callisto was heading off to war. Whatever happened after that could be explained to their time apart for so long. And even if they broke their marriage bonds, Evangeline would still have her family's protection for the rest of her life.
But… Evangeline loved her? From her words and look in her eyes… she still did. And that… she didn't know that. Past or present feelings, she… Oh, gods, this was a lot to take in all at once.
So Callisto did what she knew best when she was met with a blow she wasn't expecting: she improvised. Thank the gods she'd re-written her speech so many times she could do it on the spot.
"Evangeline," she said, mildly shocked she could keep her voice steady. "You mean so much more to me than I ever realized. I almost wish I'd known sooner, but I think we both needed to grow up a little bit first." That got Evangeline to smile a little bit more, the familiar 'trying not to laugh' twinkle in her eyes. So far so good. "At some point, it grew harder not to be around you. And even with what lies ahead, I'm glad you said yes, that you would be here when I return. Not just as one of my now closest friends, but as my wife." She took the matching ring to her own, sliding it onto Evangeline's finger. "So I promise the same. Come what may. I will be with you. For you. Always."
And, feelings of love shared or not, Callisto swore to herself she'd keep that promise. The thought of anything happening to Evangeline again… it was too much to bear. And if ending their marriage would bring any bit of unhappiness in the woman before her now… No. They were bound now. For life, if need be.
Which, if she was honest with herself, wasn't an unpleasant thought at all.

Summary:
A test is interrupted by Gisu’s constant inspection. Norma tries to maintain her composure, but she can only handle so many looks before asserting herself in a way entirely fitting her status.

The only scene I really had in my head for this fic was the opening one, where Abigail is being followed home by a group of bully boys (3-5 of them) who are jeering at her and threatening to get physical with her, and this is when her powers manifest in order to protect herself from them. Afterwards, the boys are terrified of her, and Abigail is terrified that she could get in big trouble for hurting them. The nearest witching school (perhaps the official witching school of the state of Minnesota?) sends a representative to her parents' front door almost immediately and offers to make the problem go away if Abigail will join their boarding school to learn how to control and harness her magic. Her dad tries to stop them by killing Abigail so she can never leave him, but the person from the school shows off their powers and stops him, warning him that if he ever tries to hurt her or anyone else again, they will make sure he is taken care of. This stops him in his tracks.
Abigail reluctantly agrees to go to boarding school, feeling like she has no other choice after hurting the boys who were bullying her and her dad almost killing her at the thought of her leaving but being stopped by the witching school representative. Though initially Abigail is lonely and sad, after she joins the boarding school, she meets and slowly falls in love with Marissa, one of the other witches on her dormitory floor (or her roommate?) who is everything Abigail wishes she could be and who seems to think Abigail is pretty cool, too (inexplicably, in Abigail's opinion).

Excerpt:
Dressed in taffeta, petticoats, her waist cinched in a corset, Kira looks doubtfully at her reflection in the mirror, while Jadzia clips a jeweled barrette with a long, curling feather into her hair. Though, she doesn’t mind the way her decolletage looks peeking out of the white, silk corset.
“There,” Jadzia says, stepping back to admire her handiwork. “You look very elegant.”
“Hmm,” Kira replies doubtfully. “If you say so.”
She turns to look over Jadzia, who’s wearing a gown with a similar cut, but in a deep sapphire blue that highlights her lovely eyes and offsets her creamy, spotted skin.
“You look very lovely yourself,” she adds with more enthusiasm, stepping close to press a kiss to her lover’s lips.
She can feel Jadzia’s smile growing even as she returns the kiss. Jadzia ends the kiss, still smiling, and takes her hand, tugging her towards the door.
“We better get to the holosuite,” Jadzia says, skirts swishing around her as she moves.
“Not so fast,” Kira complains. “I have to get used to walking with all this fabric around my legs or I’ll trip and fall on the Promenade!”

You were raised to uphold the expectations of your clan: to be the next Impa, advisor to the Princess, holder of the Sheikah secrets and techniques—a guard and guide for those destined for greatness.
Your sole duty was to protect her—offering guidance, growing old beside her, hidden in the shadows and away from divinity’s judgments. You are the shadow to her holiness, the dagger to hold for when the shield fails his duty.
But above all else, you are a teenager in love. You are in love with someone you can never embrace, can never kiss, and cherish. You are in love with the princess, someone forbidden but desired all the same.

Sapphic September 2025 - Chiffon

My piece for Sapphic September 2025 (hosted by @sapphic-september) based on the prompt for Day 29, Chiffon.
I wanted to participate in the event this year, and shuffled between a few prompts/ships before deciding on these two and "chiffon". When I first read the prompt my mind went to the band The Chiffons, so this is based on their song "One Fine Day".
For this I wanted to do it in an "edit" way, so I mimicked the Gravedale High style for it and had an image of chiffon fabric in the background.

Dohna watches on the shoreline as her girlfriend swims in the water, sun on her back as the rays dry her swimsuit, the salty water cooling her where she waits. A bag hangs on her shoulder, full of pretty seashells they’ve found during their walk across the beach.
She watches as a pink tube bobs in the waves, occasionally sinking before coming back up. Dohna loves Zelda's inquisitive nature, but how can she be comfortable that far away from shore? It keeps baffling Dohna. Not to mention Zedla’s determination to find crabs and carry them back to show her….or the occasional attempt at petting some poor fish swimming by.
The murmur of the ongoing traffic behind her became a peaceful background for Dohna, with seagulls calling in the sky, and the periodic shout from a victim whose food was stolen. It’s not often Dohna comes to the lighthouse; not one to find much interest in the sea or seafood, but Zelda loves visiting.
Dohna can never refuse when Zelda asks her to come, especially when she kisses Dohna’s cheek and smiles up at her with bright, sparkling eyes.
There’s the sound of a splash near her, and when Dohna looks, she’s greeted with the sight of the sun personified. Zelda beams, waving as she swims. Her hair lies flat and tangled from the current, pale skin pinking from the sun, and her eyes rival the blue from the sea surrounding them; bright and playful. The water sparkles around her, and Dohna's shiver is not just from the breeze.
“Are you ready to head out?” Zelda asks as she exits the water, grabbing the towel Dohna provides to dry her hair and skin. “I think I saw that the smoothie shop is open today.”
Dohna looks at her fondly. “I’m only ready if you are,” she shakes the bag in emphasis, heart fluttering at the embarrassed blush the action results. Naturally, she has to kiss the look away, because she truly loves collecting little trinkets such as shells with Zelda.
“Ok,” Zelda says bashfully. “Let's see if there’s anything else at the market for us, ok?”
I was expecting to have written more by now but alas, life got in the way and I now have like three different drafts in my docs. But here’s what I have now!
