Also not cultures but I'd LOVE if Disney made an animated movie about vampires and I'd also love Disney to make an animated movie inspired by Dante's divine comedy(yeah I know they'll definitely not do this but a man can dream)

Is it wrong for me to say I'm kind of glad that Sony Pictures Animation cancelled the Medusa movie???

For those of you unaware that Sony where going to do a medusa adaptation here is what the movie's plot was going to be about:

Now, I perfectly know that this movie was likely intended by kids, and by extension they cared about accuracy or respect for the source material as much as they cared back when they made that Disney Hercules film. However, I despise not only the entire "Medusa Feminist Girlboss" concelt on itself, but also just how "fandomized" Greek Mythology has gotten in the Media, especially when it's adressed or treated like kids' fairy tales, or at least something that's supposed to be more digestibke for children. Of coursly you cannot blatantly portray assault or other gruesome themes (not that Medusa's most common characterization nowdays wouldn't be oftenly linked in torture porn or something...) but writing mythological figures like that is NOT exactly a healthy way of adressing the siurce material, nor introduce a younger audience to it.

I really don’t like it when retellings treat gods like celebrities (really reminds me of how real ppl treat celebrities unfortunately) it just… rubs me the wrong way it feels like a misunderstanding of the relationship between gods and mortals, it feels like a misunderstanding that this is a religion. Ppl didn’t squeal like fangirls when a god shows up to them, they think omg something serious is going on. Like do you ever see ppl talk like this about the Abrahamic god? Unironically? No, bc it’s weird.

It saddens me everyday that Disney stopped adapting stories into animated movies. Cause like there are so many interesting mythological, legendary, folktale and fairy tale characters from different cultures/countries who are less known by big main stream media who deserve to have their stories adapted by Disney.

Since racists can’t deny that dark skinned ppl existed in ancient Egypt anymore, now they’re insisting that all the dark skinned ppl were actually slaves and commenting ancient Egyptian art of dark skinned slaves at anyone who talks about ancient Egyptian’s race like a sorta gotcha.
