let’s put this to bed once and for all. 

bi lesbians is a terf term used to attack lesbians who date trans women. 

it’s transphobic, lesbphobic, and biphobic wrapped up into one. There is no good faith argument to support the use of this term. 

You can lean towards one or the other but that doesn’t make you any less bi. 

Further more yes you can still ID as butch/femme.

Bi Lesbian is NOT lesbophobic, transphobic, or biphobic.

There are many good faith reasons to use the term to describe yourself. The term bi lesbian began as a way for people to express a nuanced sexuality. “I’m bi but,” or “I’m a lesbian kind of.” There are people who are attracted to men but their lived experience aligns more closely with lesbians. There are people using the word lesbian in the original meaning which is closer to “sapphic”. Terfs may use the term this way now but the whole issue started because of lesbian separatism trying to distance lesbians from bisexuals.

We’re not that different. Some of us are both. Get over it.

 if you’re bi it’s okay to be bi. Saying “your’e Bi bUT” is biphobic. Saying “your a lesbian kind of” is lesphobic. And the fact terfs use it IS transphobic. IT’s as simple as that. 

I didn’t say we were different. I said if you’re Bi just be bi. It’s not a bad thing to be bi. But guess what, even if you only date women, you’re still bi. If you are attracted to men and women that’s bi. Even if you only date one. And a lot of bi people FIGHT for that. 

There’s no shame in being bi. You make it sound like you’re ashamed to be bi and that’s say it with me now, biphobia. Plain and simple. 

Look sexuality IS complicated, and terminology changes. BUT when an active hate group is ACTIVELY using a term to ACTIVELY disparage lesbians and trans people and bi people quite frankly all in one breath, THAT MAKES IT A TERF TERM and one that as a trans woman I’d prefer people didn’t use. Because then, I have to assume you’re a terf.

here's your reminder that like trans people, many cis intersex people have to fight to be recognized as the gender they are. cis intersex people, too, have to fight to have their sexuality accepted in relation to this. cis intersex people are oppressed, and they are very often not protected under the same institutions that protect cis dyads. in fact, those institutions can outright attack them.

intersex rights are not just about our bodies. we would not be persecuted for our bodies in the manner we are if it weren't for the system of gender we have and how oppressive it is to anyone who doesnt conform to its rigid notion of male and female. include us in your fucking activism. even when we're cis.

A lot of people are misinterpreting this post but I hate the mlm flag too. I’m just stating the facts about the philly / Baker LGBT flag being not just for gays but the whole community. They’re both umbrella flags and stating otherwise erases a lot of history in the community and changes a lot of narrative in the community.

i know ppls opinions on reclaiming "queer" vary a lot (and thats fine--personally i dont really have a problem w people reclaiming but only as long as they respect a lotta people dont wanna be called that) but i really think its gross as fuck when big companies and corporations try to use that word for like. marketing and merchandising shit. like uh hey fuck you brand who said u could do that. gettin a bit too buddy-buddy with the rainbow capitalism there

Bi and lesbian solidarity is so important but I think a lot of us get it wrong because we don’t know how to do it. It’s not just telling each other we’re valid and good, it’s not just positivity posts, it’s actively deciding we’re going to learn about each other and listen to each other when something truly harms us, it’s learning about our unique struggles.

It’s about while talking about biphobia and lesbphobia, we’re not being biphobic or lesbphobic in the same breath. We have community together and are going to be connected by our oppression and love whether some of us want to admit it or not. Some of us are so hurt by what has been said that we become reactive and lash out at other sapphics who have done nothing wrong, and that’s understandable but we have to learn how to change it. Contrary to popular belief, bisexuals AND lesbians are being run out of LGBT+ spaces due to majority perception and assumption about us.

In reality, lesbians and bisexuals will both have unique relationships to gender and identity and society that need to be respected and we need to take the time to listen and understand them. It’s not a competition of who is the most marginalized and affected by xyz, this has been said a million times but when we do that we are actively taking away from the severity of lesbphobia and biphobia.
