The days soon turned to weeks, and soon the night of the big launch party arrived. Sapphire of course was most definitely going with Seto. She was nervous though. She knew that her father of course would be on the guest list…she just needed to make sure to keep away from him as she could.

As she was getting ready, putting on her makeup, she tried to keep her mind off of things. She just needed to stay positive though. She knew Seto wouldnt let anything bad happen. She had picked a long dark blue dress, strapless of course. she soon got up and made sure she was fully ready. She soon made her way downstairs then.

Seto stared at himself in the mirror as he did up his tie for the umpteenth time. His choice of outfit for this evening was a shiny silver suit, with a white shirt and blue tie that refused to comply with his fingers in order to produce a perfectly tied knot.

“Are you still getting ready?” Mokuba asked as he entered his brother’s room. His purple shirt was paired with grey pants and his long hair tied back in a ponytail.

“You can see perfectly well that I am so don’t ask such dumb questions.” a response was growled. The tie came to rest at a slight angle that Seto still wasn’t happy with and he undid his work once more whilst grumbling to himself, “I tie these damn things each day for work, WHY can’t I do it right now?!”

“Maybe because there’s something on your mind?”

“Pfft, like what?”

“I don’t know…” Mokuba gave a lazy shrug before pulling a chair over towards his brother. “… maybe the fact that tonight will be the first time you and Sapphire are ‘officially’ seen as a couple. I mean, everyone who’s anyone in Domino is going to be there. You know, as well as all of Kaiba Corp’s employees, partnered companies and share holders. Oh, and don’t forget the press, they’ll be there too.”

Thanks for reminding me. Seto scoffed silently as he watched his mischievous faced brother climb onto the chair now in front of him. It wasn’t the crowds per se that unnerved him but rather how others would react. He’d seen countless celebrity and wealthy couples have their privacy violated to feed the public’s appetite of them, and quite frankly that wasn’t a life he desired in the slightest. Even if he could control just how much and close the press would get, there was still the subject of Sapphire’s father whom also had yet to discover their relationship.

“Stop worrying so much, things will be fine.” Mokuba assured a near vacant look as he reached out and tied a perfect,- and rather fancy,- trinity knot with his brother’s tie. “There, all done. Sapphire is already downstairs waiting for you, don’t keep her waiting any longer.”

Seto left the room and speedily made his way to the staircase where he momentarily stopped and admired his girlfriend patiently waiting for him down below. Damn she looked beautiful and almost unrecognisable out of her everyday attire. In fact if it hadn’t been for the blue tips of her hair and those glasses he had a fondness for, then he might have easily mistaken her for someone else at first glance. He held back the proud beaming smile that was trying to concur his face and slowly made his way down to her.

“Sorry to keep you waiting. I had a, um… wardrobe issue.” Now at the foot of the stairs, he walked over to Sapphire and placed a soft kiss on her cheek to greet her. The smile he’d been trying to suppress finally got the better of him as he looked her over one more time. “Wow, you look amazing!“

Sapphire glanced up and blushed then as she saw Seto had spotted her. Honestly she was nervous about this. But she just had to remain calm. Nothing bad was going to happen....she just had to keep saying that.

As he walked doen to meet her she chuckled. "Well don't get used to seeing me in a dress...you know I only do it for formal occasions..." she said smirking at him. She then looked him up and down. He really did look quite fetching in that silver suit. She then smiled and looked up at him. "Well I suppose we should get going...dont want to keep everyone waiting." She said a bit nervously. She sighed and closed her eyes. "I'm just nervous about father being there."

Seto’s grin grew even wider at hearing his girlfriend’s delight in being invited to join him. What she’d said had been true; it had been a while since they’d had any alone time. Of course he valued every moment spent together, but sometimes it was nice to just unwind with Sapphire’s company all to himself without having to share her with Bones, Mokuba or her books.

The CEO picked up his glass once more and casually began to sip as Sapphire slowly unveiled herself…

“…!!!” He almost choked on the wine at discovering that she was completely naked,- except for her necklace and glasses,- upon entering the water. Ohh, she meant THAT kind of ‘alone time’!

“Well I’m suddenly feeling overly dressed.” Seto managed a smirk as he placed his drink down for a second time. Colour had risen into his cheeks a little, but for the most part his was calm with the unexpected situation at hand. After all, it was far from the first time he’d seen his girlfriend without clothes on. “Had I known you’d be so elegantly dressed down then I would have left off my speedos.“

Sapphire laughed lightly and glanced over at him as she turned her head only slightly. She shrugged then. "Well then maybe we can fix that then. " She said winking at him before she only moved slightly, getting even closer to him. She already had an idea on what to do.

As She got close to him she lightly planted soft kisses at his neck, her hand slowly moving to his chest. Her breasts already lightly pressed up against his side. She only moved her hand down slowly and into the water. Her lips lightly nipping and sucking and kissing at his neck. After all... It HAD been a long time since they had gotten intimate together, and she knew just exactly what to do to heat up the moment.

Seto sipped his Sauvignon Blanc as he waited for a response on his phone.

After a couple of minutes it became apparent that he wasn’t going to be getting one at all. Heh, Sapphire’s probably so engrossed that she either didn’t hear her phone sound, or I’m simply not tempting enough to rival her book tonight. Oh well… He tossed his cellphone back over to where his towel lay and placed his wine glass down beside the hot tub.

No sooner had he made himself comfortable amongst the bubbles being created by the power jets, he heard a faint knock on the door. A smile grew on his face as he saw Sapphire enter with the bathrobe tied around her. Ahhhh, that’s why you didn’t reply. You went to go change into your bikini first.

“Sure, there’s plenty of room.” Though it would have been hard to see beneath the bubbling surface of the water, he patted and the space on the moulded seat beside him. “Watch your step getting in. It’s pretty easy to loose your balance from the force of the jet sprays.”

Sapphire giggled and nodded before she got closer and glanced at him. "You know I'm actually happy you wanted me up here... It's been so long since we've had any... Alone time. " she said softly as she slowly untied her robe. It was true. For a while now they rarely had any time for just the two of them. After work they had been far too tired to really do much except just cuddle close to one another on the couch watching a movie or doing their own things.

As she finally undid the robe, she very slowly slid it off of her shoulders. She of course... Wasn't wearing a bikini. She was wearing the dragon necklace that she never took off., and nothing else. She chuckled and adjusted her glasses before she slowly got into the hot tub beside him sliding in until the water covered her chest. The hot water felt so good on her skin and tired muscles.

There was a small ‘pop’ sound as the stopper of the bottle came away with the corkscrew in Seto’s hand. He carefully poured himself a glass of chilled white wine as the bubbles of the hot tub lapped at his physique. A sip of the crisp Sauvignon Blanc was then savoured before he slouched back in the warm water. After a long hard day’s work, this kind of relaxation was just what the CEO needed.

Of course he would have enjoyed it more if his girlfriend had joined him.

Sapphire however, had been all too preoccupied with her book to even greet him with more than a grunt upon his return home. Had such a reaction occurred near the start of their relationship, then he would have most likely caused some kind of scene and demanded to know ‘why’ she was ignoring him.

But that hadn’t been the case. They’d been a happily dating couple for some time now and all of his insecurities and doubts had all but vanished during those months. He didn’t need her constantly fawning over him in oder to know that she cared. Even words weren’t required most times. Their relationship was now so comfortable that they knew each other’s tendencies well enough to know when something was wrong or right with the other.

Right now Sapphire was happily engrossed within the fictional word of her current book. He knew it to be one of her escapisms from the hard working role she held at Kaiba Corp, and he respected that right for her to unwind as such… Even so, perhaps she’d like to see just what she was missing…

Seto reached behind him for the cellphone he’d made sure was placed nearby,- just incase he received any important work related calls,- and snapped a quick selfie. He sent it to his girlfriend’s number with the accompany text: Waiting for you to join me.

Sapphire was deeply engrossed in her book when she heard her phone go off. She blinked and closed her book and set it on her lap as she reached over for her phone and opened the message. The immediate response was a reddish blush appearing on her cheeks and her eyes widened. She acted almost immediately, getting up from her place on the couch and rushing upstairs to her bedroom. After getting undressed and putting on her purple silk bathrobe only she made her way towards where he was.

Sapphire knew that he was possibly awaiting a text back from her, but he would get more than he bargained for. She gently knocked on the door before entering a small smirk on her face. "got room for one more?" she asked as she walked over to the tub chuckling softly.

Shit, shit, shit, shit! Seto’s mind continued to chant as Sapphire also spotted him. My cover is blown for sure now!

But as she gave him that perfected feint smile of hers before turning back to Pegasus, it became apparent that she hadn’t recognised him. Maybe his trick still had a chance of working after all… Providing Pegasus kept his mouth shut.

“Saggi!” Pegasus suddenly called and gestured for him to approach. “My dear boy, DO come over here and introduce yourself to me and the lovely host. At least I’m assuming you’re male..? It’s hard to tell with legs so stunningly slender as yours. If I’ve mis-gendered you then I sincerely apologise.”

Like hell you do. Seto’s mind sneered at that smirk which now made him feel as though having his true identity revealed would now be the better option instead. No, he wouldn’t give Pegasus the satisfaction of unveiling him so easily. You wanna play games eh? Heh, so be it!..

“You were correct with your assumption Mr Pegasus sir.” He assured in his best acting voice to conceal his own. Offering his hand forward, he then declared, “The name’s Daichi Oshiro, chief engineer of Fujiyama Enterprises.”

“Oh?” Pegasus was pleasantly surprised that the younger was playing along and returned the handshake. “So… what is it you ‘do’ Mr Oshiro.”

“I design the rides for KaibaLand.”

“All of them?”

“Yes; ALL of them.”

“Then you have my deepest sympathy for being bombarded with Mr Kaiba’s constant demands for all things Blue Eyes White Dragon related. However you have done a FANTASTIC job of making each ride fresh and unique so that it doesn’t clearly scream of his secret dragon fetish; which by the way, you didn’t hear from me.”

I DO NOT have a dragon fetish! Seto could feel his brow twitching in annoyance to what had just been said, yet was determined not to break out of character. “Yes well, that dragon holds a great importance to Mr Kaiba…” His eyes drifted sideways to Sapphire as he looked her over once more. “…you shouldn’t go making assumptions just because-…”

“Eyes forward Daichi-boy!” The bells on Saggi’s oversized collar jangled as Pegasus tugged at it to catch Seto’s attention once more. "Miss Kinomoto isn’t dressed like that for your benefit. Why if Mr Kaiba was to catch you gawking like that,- at his girl,- he’d….. Oh, speak of the devil, there he is!”

Seto followed the outstretched arm of the Witty Phantom as it pointed towards…. “Kaibaman?”

“Uh-huh, that’s GOT to be him, right my dear Sapphire?” Pegasus was enjoying this just a little too much as he saw the confused,- or was it disguised?,- look on the young CEO’s chalky white face. “I mean, who else do we know that is SOOOOOOO passionately obsessed with the Blue Eyes White Dragon that they would dress as the very card that can summon them to the field?… Now don’t just stand here, GO to him my dear.“ He ushered Sapphire forward in the direction of Kaibaman.

Sapphire herself admired the Saggi costume and listened as Pegasus talked to him. She giggled softly as she mentioned how much Seto loved the Blue Eyes White Dragon. "now now Maximillian. You know that Seto doesn't have that much if an attraction to blue eyes. Sure he may love it as much as to have it placed everywhere but if I could I would have my Vampire Lord or even my Red Eyes Zombie Dragon everywhere." She said as she sipped at her wine.

As she caught Saggi eyeing her she rolled her eyes. "yes I did wear this just for Seto. And it is only for his benefit. And you are lucky that he isn't here. My boyfriend doesn't take too kindly to men gawking at me like eye candy. " she said with a smirk. "so keep your eyes up top cuz anything below is Setos and Setos alone. "

As Pegasus pointed out that Seto was here -so to speak- her eyes quickly landed on Kaibaman. She then smiled big and chuckled as she excused herself from Saggi and Pegasus and made her way towards him.

As she arrived in front of Kaibaman she looked him up and down. "Well it's about time you got here! I almost felt like you were going to stay at the office all night just to avoid coming!" she scolded him. She then went to hug him. Not realizing that..... It wasn't Seto.

Whilst he knew that Sapphire was trying to provide him with simple gestures of comfort and support, Seto still felt her words and gaze somewhat unsettling. His eyes drifted slightly as his mind did its best at luring him away from the things she was telling him… Ha, of course it was his fault! He’d allowed himself to become so distant from the very person he’d spent his entire life focused on providing for. His own damn pride, obsessions and determination had clearly taken over things to the point were he didn’t even pay attention to the here and now. If he had, then Mokuba wouldn’t be as much of a stranger to him like he was currently feeling!…

I can still turn this around…! …? … Seto’s eyes reconnected with Sapphire’s and he slowly nodded in agreement to her assuring words that he could fix things between them. It was this kind of second opinion and guidance that he needed to help lessen the sneering inner voice of his mind that he all to often acted upon.

Together they spent the next ten minutes or so finishing up the back room for Bones. As they did so, Seto raised the subject of the new duel disk launch party the following weekend before it slipped his mind even further.

“As Chief Programmer your attendance at the launch is expected…” he asserted with a slight queasy feeling in his gut from what he was about to ask. “… However, I was thinking… since we’re now ‘dating’, if …we… um…” Stop stalling and just ask her already! Why the hell was he getting all nervous and worked up over this? She was his girlfriend now so surely she wouldn’t turn down his invitation to accompany him to the launch event… ? Would she?

“Would you like to….? I mean… I would be honoured if … you… would-“

“Please put him out of his misery and tell him you’ll be his date for the party.” Mokuba spoke as he wandered into the room with Bones beside him. As comical as it was to see his brother get tongue tied and flustered, when it was caused by a lack of confidence such as now, it loss all potential teasing appeal.

“Oh, I found this in the box of games.” He tossed a small oval device towards Sapphire. “Sorry to inform you of bad news, but I think it’s dead.“

Sapphire blinked and chuckled softly as she listened and watched Seto closely. She knew exactly what he was going to ask....or trying to ask. She was already going to say yes. Afterall...it would be fun going to an event with him. She had gone to so many events before with her father....but those had proven boring.

As mokuba wandered in, she smiled and quickly grabbed the small tamagotchi thrown in her direction. "Oh dear....i was wondering where this little one had gotten to. He had escaped my keyring. But thanks for finding him Mokuba."

She then looked at Seto. "As for me attending the event....id live to go with you as your date. In fact is be thrilled to. I already have an outfit in mind actually."

Bones however quickly began sniffing around the room, before stopping at the piano. He sniffed at it and soon just walked away from it and walked over to Seto, standing before him and looking up at him with his tail wagging.

Seto already felt like shit upon realising how out of touch he’d become with his brother. So he was relieved that Sapphire hadn’t followed just to bitch about how he’d left them a few moments earlier. It was as though she understood the boundaries needed; giving him a little time and space to deal with his inner turmoil, yet still able to show her concern for him at the same time.

The feeling of such an understanding warmed his heart enough to cause a mirrored smile as Sapphire asked if he needed help with the harp. “It’s actually not that heavy.” He assured. Then,- in order to make sure that his words weren’t mis-interrupted as an attempt to push her away,- he added, “However it is awkwardly shaped for just one person to carry. You taking hold of the T-brace or feet for me would help a little.” Adjusting the stringed instrument in his hold so that he now bore the brunt of the weight via its soundbox resting against his chest, Seto angled it for Sapphire to take hold.

Once they’d gotten the harp into his office, it was placed on the low coffee table to the side of the couch. He’d find a more permanent space for it some other time, though right now this placing would suffice. “There, all done… Let’s get Bones’ bed in place in his new room and then continue with our games night. No doubt Mokuba will want some kind of take out delivered too. If you have any preferences then I suggest you make it known before…”

Seto paused with his words and the tease he was going to make about his brother adding revolting dishes and/or ingredients to the overall order. Did he even still do that? It had been a while since they’d last had take out, so was he wrong to still make such an assumption like he had with the other’s love of books? Just look at how wrong he’d gotten that… Damn, he hated it whenever he was made to question himself in any way.

“Sapphire, I want you to give me an honest answer…” he spoke softly yet avoided her gaze. “… How bad of a brother am I to not know Mokuba as well as I should?“

As Sapphire helped him place the harp on the table, she dusted her hands off afterwards before glancing at him and listening. She sighed softly before taking a few steps towards him and gently put a hand on his cheek, turning him to look into her eyes. "You aren't a bad brother, Seto....You just have...been quite busy with your life since you and Mokuba were younger. Sure when people get older, their tastes may change but some dont. Maybe you could....I dunno...see what Mokuba still likes to do and doesn't like to do anymore...just...explain to him that you may have come out of focus with some of the things he enjoys now or still likes cuz you've been so busy. He's your brother and he cares a lot about you and your well being...trust me I know he will understand."

Sapphire then gave him a reassuring smile before chuckling. "If anything after we play a few games together and have dinner you two can talk."

She then started walking towards the doir, stopping before turning to face him. "Now come on...let's finish up getting Bones little room together. I bet you Mokuba has already started playing some games without us."

A Birthday Surprise

“Um, bro… What does it mean when it says to ‘fold’ this stuff?”

Seto got up from where he was crouched down, checking the temperature of the oven that had taken him several attempts to light correctly around ten minutes earlier. He wandered over to where his brother stood clutching at a mixing bowl whilst reading from a cake book. His eyes scanned the text on the page yet he was equally as clueless. “Perhaps you’re meant to fold it in a similar way to how you’d knead bread?”

“I may not know how to bake a cake, but I know for certain that you don’t ‘knead’ the mixture!”

“Are you sure about that?” Seto sceptically asked. His eyes gestured towards the bowl’s contents that looked like a one big lumpy mound.

“Of course I’m sure!” The younger brother retorted as he flung the bowl onto the counter out of sheer frustration. All he’d wanted to do was take the opportunity to bake Sapphire a cake whilst she,- and Bones,- was out visiting her father for the day. His brother had promised to help him though and had turned out to be useless since neither of them knew how to bake.

“Calm down Mokie, I’ll get you through this.” Seto assured. He’d never seen his brother so exasperated before. And all because of a cake… “From the way I see it there’s three options that could be taken. One, we blindly continue with this mess and salvage it as best we can. Two, I could make some calls and enrol the help of someone who knows exactly what they are doing. Or three, we bypass the baking stage and just purchase a cake from the bakery instead.”

Mokuba listened to each choice given. This had to have been a trick to ensure he picked the first option. He knew just how much his brother valued determination and persistence whilst also hating having to ask for help or taking an easy way out. And as much as he wanted to make Sapphire a cake himself, he wanted her to have something that looked and tasted nice, which his surely wouldn’t if he struggled along like this… Ugh, why did making choices have to be so hard?! “What would you do Seto?”

“Me? Honestly…?… I wouldn’t have even gotten this far, so kudos for trying kiddo.” He ruffled his brother’s hair and smiled. “Get your coat. We’re heading to the best bakery Domino has to offer.”

Sapphire sighed heavily as she opened the front door of the manor, of course letting Bones in first. She had had a....let's say 'lovely' time visiting her father. With her father still mainly trying to get her to come back home. Sapphire knew he would have done something like that, but he was the only true family she had left and she didn't want to lose him as well.

The young woman soon made it into the main room, following Bones as he sniffed around, but as the two of them jumped up to surprise her, Bones quickly backed up and went behind her before raising his head. His tail wagged quickly as he realized it was just the boy who he played fetch with and the grumpy male who was attached to Bones owner.

Sapphire gasped in shock and surprise before a big grin appeared on her face. A laugh started then before she spoke. "Oh you two...you didn't have to do this for me!" She said smiling as she walked towards the decorated table. Her eyes landed on the cake in the center and she smiled. "And you even got me a cake that resembles my red eyes zombie dragon!" Sapphire actually was near tears. No one had ever done something like this for her birthday. Not since her mother and brother had died.

She turned to the two brothers, tears of happiness in her eyes. "Thank you....really." she said smiling big. Bones however was eyeballing the cake on the table, his nose already going a mile a minute.

Mokuba felt uneasy as he watched the other leave. Was Seto mad at him for having shared the honest truth? For having continued to enjoy reading? Or worse, upset by his words? Damn it, why did it always feel like walking on eggshells around his own brother at times? “Thanks Sapphire.” He took the book handed to him and slowly met her gaze as she smiled.

He watched as she then picked up the games console and handed that to him too. She wants this hooked up downstairs? Why not in the entertainment room? The screen in there is far superior. Whatever though, I’m not gonna cause a scene about it… “Sure. I’ll pick something good… Oh, and if I were you, I’d just let the whole reading subject drop with Seto. I don’t want him to start yelling at you because of me.”

Downstairs, the CEO took a quick glance into the living room to see Bones’ tail and back legs lazily hanging over the side of his favourite armchair as the doberman peacefully snoozed. Maybe he should concede the chair as a gesture of goodwill? Besides, it wasn’t like he’d need such a thing anymore. Not now that he had Sapphire to huddle up with on one of the couches. And if Bones was so taken with sitting in that chair instead, then at least he wouldn’t have to fight to sit next to his own girlfriend from then on… We’ll call it a gift. Enjoy, because it’ll be the only one you ever get from me.

Carrying on down the hall, he soon came to a small room that was hardly ever used. Inside it, amongst other things, were two large musical instruments; a grand piano and a harp. The piano he didn’t give a shit about and was there purely for decorative purposes. He would quite happily leave that there for Bones to gnaw on and devour if he so wished. The harp on the other hand would be relocated to his home office. There was no way he’d let the doberman anywhere near it. It was far too precious.

After having softly trailed his fingertips across the line of vertical strings that gave off a harmonious hum as he did so, Seto struggled slightly as he lift the four foot harp and began to carry it from the room. He crossed paths with Sapphire when he was half way back up the first lot of stairs. “You can put Bones’ bed in the second left back room.“ he told her. “It will be his room from now on.”

Sapphire was making her way downstairs when she saw Seto half struggling with the beautiful instrument. She nodded at his words though and sighed. Maybe she should try to divert stuff from what had happened in her bedroom? She could only try. "Umm yea..sure...uhh do you want some help though Seto? It does look quite heavy." She said with a soft smile.

Of course she would get Bones room fixed up but first she wanted to make sure Seto was alright. She didn't want him upset with her or Mokuba. She wanted everyone to at least be a bit happy.

Seto wandered around the room, taking in as much of it as he possibly could. As well as decorations, Sapphire had also catered a themed buffet and planned to host several ‘fun’ activities too. Despite the fact that he loathed such a day as Halloween, he was very impressed with all that she had done for this occasion. Hmm, maybe I have her employed in the wrong department..? Heh heh, I wonder how she’d feel being transferred from position of Chief Programmer to Events Manager instead..?….

The CEO’s amused thoughts were interrupted as all attention was then drawn towards the tree where the party’s host was now speaking. His eyes bulged in their sockets when he caught sight of his girlfriend’s Blue Eyes costume for the evening,- well, what little there was of it,- as she greeted her guests and apologised for his tardiness… She’s wearing that outfit for me and as far as she’s aware, I’m not even here to appreciate it!

Although Sapphire promoted the costume contest,- and the amazing one of a kind prize she’d commissioned, though he felt it not as amazing as the artist’s previous work in the form of his Blue Eyes Ultimate statue,- there was no way he would be entering. Not because he didn’t want to, but because he felt that if he ‘the co-host of the event’ were to win, there were bound to be multiple cries of the whole thing being a complete fix that would surely tarnish all of the effort placed into the party. Besides, tonight his girlfriend’s prowesses were shining and he had no intention of stealing her well earned limelight.

With the little speech now over with, Seto helped himself to a glass of wine from the tray being carried by one of several Skull Servants wandering around the room and took a sip, all whilst keeping his gaze fixated on Sapphire who acquired her own drink across the crowd from him.

“… bound to turn up soon. She just said he would.” His ears picked up part of a conversation between a Beaver Warrior and a green Goblin monster to his right.

“No harm in looking until he does though.” Chuckled the green faced man who’s voice Seto recognised as the CEO of Neurowear; one of Kaiba Corp’s current partnership companies. “The lucky bastard gets to fuck her all he wants, so we’re entitled to look… We should cop a sneaky feel too when we get within her proximity.”

You touch Sapphire and I’ll not only sever our contract, but break both your fucking hands too! Seto silently fumed as his view narrowed on the pair of chauvinistic old farts now wheezing with laughter. If his girlfriend’s choice of attire had brought out such kind of behaviour from these two otherwise reputable men, then how many more were having similar thoughts? I can’t leave her on her own this evening, I HAVE to go to her!

He frantically looked around to catch Sapphire in his sight once more as she stood talking to a Witty Phantom. Who the fuck is she talking to? his strung up mind growled as he began striding over towards them. If that guy tries anything, I’ll…. He stopped in his tracks when the one eyed man looked directly at him….

Shit! Had Pegasus seen through his disguise? He hoped not…On a plus side though,- having been recognised or not,- at least Seto knew his girlfriend wasn’t in any danger of being groped by the man she was conversing with.

"Well that would be something...though i highly doubt my first choice of costume would make Seto pleased. Seeing as he dispises the toon variation of hid precious blue eyes white dragon. No i went with something more simple and to not anger him." Said the CEO with a chuckle.

Sapphire herself took a sip of her wine as she listened to Pegasus, chuckling slightly. "That he wouldnt. Though it would be nice for him to show up...I doubt he himself would wear a costume. He doesn't quite like Halloween..though I am happy he let me put this little party on."

As Pegasus turned his head and noticed Saggi the dark clown, Sapphire grinned. "Well...that sure is interesting. I wonder who's the one wearing that costume it looks so spot on. Oh if Seto could only see this... "

Sapphire knew some of Setos cards in his deck, even though the two hadn't yet dueled of course. But she knew Saggi was in there somewhere. She glanced around at all the mingling guestd, hoping to spot a familiar face...but to no avail. Pegasus, seeing the defeated frown on her face after not spotting Seto chuckled softly "Don't worry...Kaiba may be a workaholic but I highly doubt even he would miss his girlfriends little party. He'll show up...soon."

He took a sip of wine before taking a quick glance back at the Saggi before smirking. He had a hunch who was under all that makeup. Afterall, only one person could be that tall and thin that he knew. Of course he had a hunch this was to surprise Sapphire, and he didn't want to ruin Setos surprise.

Mokuba was filled with joy at being told he could join in with the planned games night, and almost burst when Sapphire suggested it should become a weekly tradition. The look she gave his brother made him stifle a laugh. No doubt Seto was feeling so attacked and ganged up upon right now.

“Yeah, I did.” The younger brother responded to being asked if he’d enjoyed the book. So what if his brother was there. Sapphire would stand by him if he began to tease. Wouldn’t she? “Heh, I was kinda hoping you’d lend me the next one in the series…? I got so engrossed in that one, I gotta know what happens next!“

“Since when do you read such drivel?” Seto questioned skeptically. Surely his brother was merely feinting interest in order to be nice to Sapphire..?

“S-s-since you stopped reading to me.” There was a slight shake to Mokuba’s voice as he spoke whilst purposely avoiding his brother’s gaze. “And it’s not drivel. In fact you’d like it if you gave it a try.”

“I… don’t have the time.” The elder brother mumbled whilst still trying to decipher whether or not the tone to the other’s voice had been made in sadness or fear, perhaps even both? Whichever it happened to be, it was enough to hit a sore spot and generate a faint feeling of self-loathing for having not know his brother’s interests as well as he’d always assumed he did. I’m a fool to think he’d lose interest in something we were once both so passionate about just because I ceased to…

“I ought to make a start on clearing a room for Bones.” He stated and then swiftly left Sapphire’s room in order to do so, hoping that keeping himself busy would occupy his time and prevent further wallowing.

Sapphire started to speak but before she could utter a word, Seto quickly left. She frowned and sighed lowering her head before looking back at Mokuba. She then grinned and chuckled before she walked back over to her bookshelf, pulling out the second book in the series. "Here you go Mokie...and...don't worry about your brother...I'll talk to him ok? Maybe I'll convince him to give reading a try again." She handed the Kaiba brother the book and gave him a warm smile.

She then got an idea, spotting the video game system still on the floor where Seto left it she quickly picked it up. "Here why don't you hook this up in the living room downstairs while me and Seto talk? And I'll even let you pick the game to play....that sound like a plan?" She asked him. If there was one thing Sapphire didn't like, it was to see someone sad. She didn't like to see siblings mad or sad with one another. Afterall, her and Kiko used to have their moments...and it always tore at her heart strings. She gave Mokuba a gentle smile then.

Happy Halloween

It was Halloween night. And Sapphire was getting ready for a small Halloween party that she had convinced Seto to throw at the mansion. Just a few coworkers of course…and higher ups. Sapphire had specially ordered her costume….a Blue eyes white dragon outfit, including wings. She knew Seto would love her in it. She had just finished applying blue eye shadow and got up, fixing her silvery white halter top and miniskirt before she went to put her wings on along with her horns and tail.

After adjusting herself in the mirror and making sure her heels were on, she walked out of her bedroom to head downstairs. She had made sure to keep the costume a secret from Seto…but would he be wearing anything for halloween? That was the question.

She made her way downstairs to the party. Everyone was wearing costumes. Even pegasus had miraculously shown up. Why his name was on the guest list she didn’t know. But sapphire just hoped this would be a great halloween. The decorations Sapphire had made sure we’re put up looked stunning as well…but she tho ugh ht she may have gone overboard a bit here and there.

“Something wrong Seto?” Roland asked after having caught a glimpse of his young boss checking his reflection in the rearview mirror.

“No, of course not.” The reply was shot back, yet a golden gaze continued to trace his prominent jawline as it protruded downwards. Either the make-up artist he’d hired to transfer him into Saggi the Dark Clown for tonight’s party had done an amazing job to create such an illusion, or… he really did have an abnormally pointy chin. And those ears?! Ugh, they were definitely his own and looked ginormous without his hair to make them appear smaller.

“It’s a good thing Mokuba is staying over at Yugi’s once they’re done trick-or-treating for the night.” Roland continued to talk as he drove up the long winding drive towards the Kaiba mansion. “We both know how he feels about clowns.”

“Which is precisely why I took the opportunity to wear this disguise for Sapphire’s party.”

“You mean your party.”

Seto gave a sceptical scowl though it hardly showed at all through the huge painted on grin plastered across his face. “I would never hold such ridiculous festivities for an equally ridiculous ‘so-called’ holiday. The fact she agreed to have the dress code Duel Monster themed and have invited guests to a minimum was what swayed me,-…”

“Relax.” Roland chuckled as the car now came to a halt. “I think it’s great that you’re allowing her to celebrate Halloween, regardless of your own beliefs; or rather lack of them.”

“Really?” He seemed confused at being told such a thing regarding his girlfriend. “But isn’t it a sign of… weakness? Of MY weakness for giving into her request to hold this party?”

“Far from it.” The loyal man earnestly reassured his young boss that he wasn’t ‘weak’ like he clearly assumed. “Relationships thrive on concessions and meeting each other halfway, not with one of you having power over the other. You and Sapphire have a knack of finding and upholding that balance. Being with her makes you stronger, not weaker.”

Hearing that last part made him slightly giddy inside; which of course was now the new ‘normal’ for whenever he thought of his girlfriend. “Yeah, we do make a pretty good couple.”

“Uh-huh. Now you better hurry on inside before someone sees me and then figures out that it’s you in that costume.”

“Right.” The bells on Seto’s oversized red collar and purple gloves jingled as he nodded before reaching for the ridiculously large hat that would complete his look. “I’ll go ‘mingle’…” ,- Ugh, he hated that word,- “…and when you return with Mayura, you can ‘announce’ to Sapphire that I’m ‘still working’ at Kaiba Corp. If I know her correctly, she’ll then call me in a fit of rage and will be so surprised when she sees Saggi answer her call and declare she’s been ‘tricked’ as I reveal that I was there all along.”

“That’s not how trick-or-treating works.”

“It is tonight.” The CEO grinned before stepping out of the vehicle and placing the hat on his head. Yes, he planned on playing a trick on his girlfriend. But he’d make it up to her with a ‘treat’ after the party once they were alone.

As the car drove off, Seto’s long, skinny purple and green clad legs headed towards the mansion’s front door. Once there he’d barely knocked before his maid answered and asked to see his invitation. He showed her the jack-o’-lantern shaped card bearing an associate’s name,- whom he knew would not be attending himself,- and was then permitted into his own home. “Right this way sir. The host is currently changing into her costume for the evening and will be making her appearance very shortly.”

He wandered through the hall that was lavishly decorated with an array of Halloween themed decorations; far more than he’d thought there would be. There were fake cobwebs aplenty, flapping bats with glowing eyes, chattering skeletons, holographic ghosts and fake graves scattered here and there. Some of the gravestones were mounted by ravens, giant spiders and/or pumpkins, whilst others had heads and arms of the undead reaching out from down below. I told her NOT to go overboard!

Once the main room was reached, Seto saw many familiar Duel Monsters,- though who was actually under the disguises he had next to no idea,- as well as the odd one or two who hadn’t follow the dress code. Again, he had very little idea whom was there. All he knew was that his secretary had pulled names of associates from his dairy.

In the middle of the room was another 'over the top’ decoration in the form of a life-sized hangman’s tree. What the fuck was she thinking?!! Three effigies hung from the branches and upon seeing the faces each one bore,- Gozaburo, Wheeler, and Schroder,- Saggi’s grin grew sharper. I take it all back; Sapphire’s decorations are just the right amount…even though the tree IS a little twisted.

Sapphire after making sure her costume looked right made her way down towards the main ballroom where the party was being held. She grinned to herself as the main doors were opened for her by one of the maids and some of the guests looked her way. Some even took double glances at her as she entered. She glanced around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of her boyfriend though. But Seto still wasn't there...boy would she be in for a treat..or trick for that matter later on.

She walked towards the hangman's tree before she stood before her guests on a raised podium (that also held a noose like a real gallows...also fake with a skeleton hanging from the noose). "Thank you all for coming. Unfortunately Seto hasn't quite shown up yet so I'm here to tell you of the festivities that will be happening tonight." She said loud and clear once she got the audiences attention. She adjusted her glasses slightly before keeping her head high. Sapphire herself wasn't much for public speaking, but she was excited about the party. "I just want you all to enjoy yourselves on this Halloween night. During this time you can just enjoy the small Halloween treats we have on the back table. Near that table there is a sign up sheet for a little costume contest we will be having later this evening. The prize for best costume picked by everyone will be a small trophy that I have gotten custom made by a glass artist who is a dear friend of mine. For now though enjoy yourselves and I hope you all enjoy the evening."

After Sapphire finished her little speech there were a few mutters about why Seto wasn't there, not to mention how Sapphire looked in her costume. Sapphire just chuckled herself and shook her head. She grabbed a glass of what appeared to be wine then before she walked over to a man dressed as what looked like a witty phantom. It was Pegasus. Sapphire grinned. "And here I thought you would be dressed as a toon monster card...it's been a while, Pegasus. Glad to see that you came." She said as she spoke to the Industrial Illusions CEO. Sapphire of course had met Pegasus a few times with her father.

As she spoke to him, she kept her eyes opened for Seto. Honestly she was wondering why he hadn't shown up yet...she was only slightly worried...or mad at that, but she didn't want to worry too much.

Damn that smile of hers had too much power over him as his inside fluttered once more. Is this what it was to be in love? To be nauseously excited over the most simple and naive gestures of another at random? It was a horrid feeling to lose control over one’s internal sensations, yet the CEO willingly craved it all the more as he sat back and watched his girlfriend arrange the books on her shelf. Besides, there was no way he was going to even attempt to intervene with her organisation plans, so might as well sit back and enjoy the view.

Once Sapphire had finished, Seto raised a cynical eyebrow at hearing her words. Of course he ‘liked that sort of thing’. He was just too preoccupied with all things Kaiba Corp related in order to have the time to ‘enjoy’ such pastimes. “Are you assuming that my interest in gaming lies solely with Duel Monsters alone? Because if you are, you’re in for a big surprise.“

Lazily, he got up from where he’d been seated on the bed, approached Sapphire and took the console out of her hands. “First we’ve got a room to sort out for your beloved canine. After that, name your game and I will thrash you; All. Night. Long…”

“Oh-kay, I certainly wasn’t prepared to hear THAT.” Mokuba over-dramatically breathed, wandering through the open doorway as he returned the book that had been loaned to him a couple of nights ago.

Seto stared in confusion as he watched his brother stood there holding the book. Since when has Mokie been the type to read this sort of crap? And he wasn’t prepared to hear what? All I said was…!…?!… “I was talking about video games; nothing else!” He snapped once he realised how his words might have been misinterpreted into some kind of sexual manner.

“Ohhhhhh!” The younger brother felt a bit foolish and then realised he should have known better than to have thought the other was ‘talking dirty’; Pfft, as if Seto would even know how… “Well in that case, could I join in too?” He looked towards his big bro’s girlfriend. “Pretty please? It’s been ages since our last games night together.”

Sapphire smirked deviously and was about to day something back to him but was halted when Mokuba entered. She giggled at the brothers little argument though. ~just like how me and Kiko would go back and forth...brings back memories~ she thought to herself then. She then smiled at the young boy as she noticed her book in his hands.

"Sure you can join us. Maybe we can make this something of a tradition. Every weekend we can have a little family game night...no being alone and no work." That last phrase she glanced at Seto before looking back at the boy.

"Also did you enjoy the book I lent you, Mokuba?" She asked him with a soft smile. As Mokuba handed her the book she turned and went to place it on the top most shelf before grabbing another book, glancing at the cover.

Birthday loving

Sapphire was humming happily to herself as she brought down a box wrapped in blue wrapping paper. It was late that evening on the 24th and Mokuba was already in bed. Bones was in the living room laying on the couch, his head propped up on the arm lazily.

Sapphire of course knew Setos birthday was tomorrow, but she just thought to surprise him the night before. Not to mention the next day he would still get more birthday love from her if he so wanted it. Mokuba and Sapphire had convinced that he take his birthday off this year…even though it was apparently just another day to him. Sapphire had worked all day herself and had come home hours ago just to prepare stuff.

She came into the livingroom and set the big box on the coffee table very gently. Sapphire had used up some of her paychecks to get a fully glass statue of the blue eyes ultimate dragon made for him. One of a kind and very pricey. She then sat down on the couch beside her beloved pet and opened a book she had set down on the table beside the lamp. She knew she probably didn’t have long to wait.

The door of the mansion unintentionally slammed shut, but after an extremely long and tiring day at Kaiba Corp, Seto was past caring right now. If he’d woken his brother then he’d apologise in the morning, or perhaps sooner if Mokuba should happen to come down and confront him about it. But there was no complaint or sign of anyone,- not even Bones,- as the CEO kicked off his shoes and hung up his coat.

His back, neck and wrists all ached from having been stuck behind his desk for a near solid nine hours since lunch time. There he’d worked twice as long and hard to complete as many of the next day’s tasks as possible so that his workload wouldn’t be so overwhelming upon his return the day after tomorrow.

Although he wasn’t too thrilled at being forced into taking time off and celebrate his birthday,- which he preferred to just quietly pass by each year,- the thought of spending it with the two people he cared most about was sure to make it enjoyable. A warm simpering smile was given at the notion as he slowly staggered towards the living room where he knew he’d find his girlfriend heavily engrossed in one of her books as she waited for him to return home from work.

“I didn’t mean to be home this… late.” He stated the closest thing to an apology that he was prepared to give whilst staring at the doberman curled up on the couch beside Sapphire. Instead of voicing his displeasure at seeing her pet on the furniture yet again, his eyes just drifted over to hers as they peered down at the pages of the book held in her hands. “You gonna make room so I can sit beside you?“

Sapphire actually jumped a bit as the silence in the room was broken. She looked up at him and gave him a warm smile before chuckling. “Bones time for bed now.” She said to the doberman. The dog yawned and lifted his head before he got up and jumped off of the couch and stretched. He then padded his way out of the living room towards the little room Seto was so kind enough to give him.

After Bones had left, she patted the space beside her after closing her book and setting it aside. “And don’t apologise for coming home late. I sort of knew you would. That’s kinda why I stayed up to wait for you.” She giggled then and then motioned to the box. “Also I thought you might like to open your present early. So I brought it down from its hiding spot.” She continued to smile at him.

She just hoped he would like it afterall. She didn’t know really what to get him but she had thought a lot about what would really make him smile.
