I don’t know if any of my mutuals are still around, but many years ago I saw several compelling recommendations for the show Lucifer. I put it on my Netflix queue, where it sat for close to ten years. (I didn’t always have a subscription and I started the pilot once and it seemed too dark.) I tried it again about three weeks ago and binged the whole thing! It’s so good!!! I didn’t look at anything online while I was watching it, to avoid spoilers, but now I’m done and I have so many thoughts and feelings and I miss all the characters! If anyone who was posting about it back in the day wants to share again now, I’ve finally arrived at the party! In the meantime, I’m going to be making goofy smiles at #Deckerstar gifs.

There’s going to be a second season of Ms Fisher! It doesn’t have the same place in my heart as Miss Fisher, but it’s really nice to have some good news these days.

I fell so far down an A Place to Call Home hole, that I just landed at the end of Jack Irish. Now I’m watching the special features, and felt the need to share this clip of Marta Dusseldorp sharing my feelings about men in cardigans. Yes, I’m still banging the same drum that led me to my profile picture many years ago now.

Tumblfriends, based on some old recommendations I got from here, I watched all of The Doctor Blake Mysteries a few months ago. I even treated myself to paying to downloading Family Portrait. I was just finally able to watch Ghost Stories on BritBox. I love this series so much! I loved the romance between Lucien and Jean, but if that actor is a “sex pest,” I absolutely adore that they promoted Jean to the lead character, and made the actress a producer. What a fantastic solution! Now all I want is to watch Jean and Alice smash the patriarchy while Matthew talks with children about books. This leads me to two questions:

1. Does anyone if there are going to be any more episodes of The Blake Mysteries? I thought that I had heard that was the plan, but now it seems like maybe not?

2. If they’re not making more of these, does anyone have any recommendations for shows or movies that have a similar feel? I think I’d say my two favorite things about it are the older-than-20-something leads and the sweet found/chosen family feeling from the ensemble of characters. Vintage clothing and non-American settings are a plus. (I live in the US, which might affect availability.)

Hi MFMM friends! My roommate painted a dollar store toy gun to look like Phryne’s pistol for me. Since then things have soured between us, and I’m moving out. I don’t want to bring this gift from her with me, but I think it’s too cool to just throw out. If anyone would like it, I’d be happy to mail it to you! My birthday has really stressed me out for the past few years. I hate forcing people to spend time and money on me. So, while I love celebrating my birthday, thinking up plans and deciding whom to invite sends my anxiety through the roof. My parents always take me out for dinner, and this year I was planning to leave it at that. But then my roommate gave me this. She's never seen the show, but clearly she's taken the time to do some research. All I know is that three of our mutual friends are coming over for brunch, she's sewing herself something appropriate to wear, and she mentioned that there will be decorations while vaguely gesturing towards most of the apartment. I'm not sure exactly what to expect on Sunday, but I'm excited to report back!

My postcard from @mrsjohnsfarmhouse arrived! I love the little waddle-dance the penguin is doing! She wrote that this would be the perfect book to bring on a desert island, which is true, but as a vegetarian, I came up with a different story in my head. There’s a kid during the Great Depression whose parents tell her they can’t afford a pet, but she finds this book and is so excited. She slowly builds a menagerie of wild rabbits and chickens using only what she finds in her parents’ and neighbors’ scrap bins. She learns some hard life lessons, but there’s a heartwarming ending. Note this completely ignores the use of the word poultry in the title, but I’ve accepted that.

Julia, I want to reassure you that the penguins wouldn’t be quite so at home with me as you fear. It’s been cold here, but today we’re up to about 15°C. Thank you for the beautiful bluebird stamps, they are making me wish it were actually spring here!

I’m still not even over the fact that this morning Lauren Graham tweeted, as a follow up to the news that Paul Anka is coming back, “FYI it’s Sparky, the “actor” who first played Paul Anka. He’s 14 now and doesn’t hear very well but he’s a good doggy.”  Long live Sparky!

Freaking out about Greg again.

They do a deep dive recap of one episode each week, usually with various special guests. They’re talking about doing another live podcast in NYC, and I’m crazy enough that I think I’d want to go if they do.

I definitely just immediately went to find and follow him on Instagram. I've become a GG junkie. I watched all of season 5 in the past five days. I started season 6 at midnight last night. I’ve thought about organizing my books by color, but then my brain freaks out because all of my book series would not be together.

All of those aesthetic photos of bookshelves organized by color make me so anxious. I could never live like that. I arranged the books in my childhood bedroom first by genre, then by size. Now I’m strictly a alphabetical by author’s last name type of gal.
