Holmes and Watson being unintentionally adorable.
The Dutch government is leading the charge to counter the impact of America's plan to halt foreign aid to any organisations which support abortion in any way.
“The Dutch Government is planning to launch an international fund to finance access to birth control and abortion in developing countries, in order to fill the gap left after the Trump administration announced it would no longer fund any overseas aid organisations which discussed abortion.
“Banning abortions does not result in fewer abortions,” Dutch Trade and Development Minister Lilianne Ploumen said, according to Dutch news website NOS. “It leads to more irresponsible practices in back rooms and more maternal deaths.”
The World Health Organisation estimates that 22 million women experience unsafe abortions every year, the vast majority of whom are in developing countries. A 2008 report from the organisation estimated that nearly 50,000 women die from complications in such procedures annually.
Minister Ploumen said that the Trump administration’s decision risked undermining recent advances in women’s health.
“We must not let this happen,” she said.
“We need to compensate for this financial blow as much as possible, with a broad-based fund, where governments, businesses and civil society organizations can donate to - so that women can remain in control of their own bodies.”

When i was 10, I sent a letter to Lemony Snicket. I didn’t receive a personal reply, but I got one of these. 7 years later I realized that there’s a message
ABORT MISSION
Were James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily even there? ...No.
You read that correctly.
I just came to a very grim realization that makes a ton of sense. (Note: This might have been realized by others as well.)
We know that in the Tale of the Three Brothers, Death’s main goal was to kill the brothers right? He was pissed because they had cheated him and he wanted to take their lives once and for all.
And so he gives the eldest brother the wand, knowing that someone would end up killing him for it. The youngest brother knows what Death is up to and takes his Invisibility Cloak, much to Death’s reluctance, so that he can hide from Death until he’s ready to face him. And the middle brother? The middle brother was given the Resurrection Stone.
And what did the stone do?
It brought back his wife (sort of) and gave the brother such a huge desire to be with her that he ended up taking his own life.
Pfft. Can you imagine? The sort-of-kind-of appearance of your dead loved one convincing you to go die.
Hahahaha…ha…yeah…
And here’s where it gets dark.
We know that Harry was willing to die for his friends because he’s a noble git whose face pops up in the dictionary next to the word: “self-sacrifice”.
The only thing he was missing was the stigmata. (In fact, I’m surprised Jo didn’t put something like that in; she wasn’t exactly subtle about it.)
Anyway, we know that Harry begins walking to the forest and though he is determined, he also begins to have second thoughts:
And then he activates the Resurrection Stone - the stone that Death intentionally used to kill the second brother.
And what happens?
Harry’s loved ones appear to him, though they look odd (and that’s important; we’ll come back to that later) and they’re totally fine with him dying and even convince him that they’re proud of him for what doing what he’s doing, that it doesn’t hurt at all, and that it’ll be quick.
So in conclusion, the four people who have gone above and beyond multiple times to protect this child are completely fine with him dying.
I mean Lily, the woman who leapt in front of her child and demanded to be killed in his place, only tells him that he’s been brave and doesn’t say anything else. The woman who repeatedly pleaded for Harry’s life supposedly stands there and just lets him go die.
Yeah, that’s in character (//sarcasm).
But of course, that’s not Lily, is it?
It’s not James.
It’s not Sirius.
It’s not Remus.
I don’t even think it was the middle brother’s wife.
I don’t think that the Resurrection Stone brings back your loved ones at all. I think it shows you whatever it can to convince you to die.
That’s why James, Lily, Remus, and Sirius were all described as looking different than how they had died. (As opposed to say Nearly Headless Nick who looked exactly how he looked when he died, semi-detached head and all). And why the wife of the brother was described as looking/acting odd as well.
They weren’t really there. They were basically magical holograms who said what they needed to say so that Harry wouldn’t have any second thoughts as he marched towards death. And Death.
Because who greets him?
That’s right, Death himself.
I mean Dumbledore.
I mean…no actually there’s been this really amazing theory going around for a while now that Dumbledore = Death and it actually makes a lot of sense.
Especially if you add my theory that Dumbledore intentionally gave Harry the Resurrection Stone so that when he was about to die, he would see magical holograms of his loved ones who would convince him that he was making the right choice, that it wouldn’t hurt, that they were proud of him, etc.
Because we know that Dumbledore wanted Harry to die. Harry was raised like a pig for slaughter. Note: He didn’t want Harry to be dead. He just wanted Harry to go through the action of dying so that Voldemort would be destroyed.
And so Dumbledore added this little detail to make sure that, well, the job would get done.
So in conclusion:
Centuries ago, Death wanted someone to die. He gave the person a stone that made an image (just an image) of his loved one, which convinced said person that he needed to die.
Centuries later, Death wanted someone to die. He gave the person a stone that made images (just images) of his loved ones, which convinced said person that he needed to die.
…Well this has officially messed me up for a good portion of 2017

Posting on Tumblr my art in the past few months.

Hey, just a word of warning to all my followers, please remember that it is a Class E Felony to wish harm or death upon the President of the United States . Yes, even on social media. People have gotten deported over this in the past.
I wholeheartedly support #notmypresident but unfortunately, this law would still apply. Be careful with those assassination jokes, which do qualify as a federal offense now. Stay informed and make informed decisions.
I would like to remind everyone that a few years back a I tagged a post about shady us military recruitment tactics with “I hate the military” (or something like that) and wound up with someone looking through my selfie tag from a department of defense computer.
be very careful of what you put online.
😨 scary
This is what I was referring to in my earlier post. The NSA showed up at my house due to some shit I said. They questioned me, and when they realized I wasn’t a threat to national security, left me alone. Still, had they wanted to, they could have black bagged my ass and carted me off to a blacksite if they were feeling particularly bored and no one would know. So like…PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU SAY. Especially if you’re active in protests and documenting shit. Use disposable cameras, and never ever use your cellphone for shit like that.
I’ve been meaning to do a post about this. In addition to it being a felony, you know full well this president is petty enough to go after anyone and everyone.
A girl from IDK what fandom got an embarrassing visit from the Secret Service in 2004 after making a jokey post on LiveJournal “praying” for God to smite the President in an embarrassing or scandalous way. Nothing came of it but a stern lecture, but it’s good to know the rules on this depending on dangerous it is for you to come into contact with law enforcement.
For US security purposes, always assume criminal death threats include: -Jokes, even really obvious jokes about movies, memes, etc. -Anything that starts “I hope/wish someone…” or “When is someone going to…” or “Someone should really…” These are treated the same as “I am going to…” This applies even to fictional characters, like “I hope Darth Vader…” -Fantasies/stories about assassination or the aftermath of an assassination. -Things like “We could really use a [name of famous assassin]” or “Anyone know when the President is going to [location of previous assassination]?”
Don’t come into contact with law enforcement if you don’t have to.
Sorry to keep harping on this, but I know there are lots of folks on Tumblr who weren’t adults when this discussion was in the news last time around (and I believe even people as young as 14 have been visited by the Secret Service for comments about harming the President in the past).
Don’t give Drumpf and his lackeys the satisfaction.
@memecucker
Yeahh got visited when I was 13 for saying something about Bush. Here’s an article about a 15 year old getting investigated for an art project they did- https://www.google.com/amp/www.seattlepi.com/local/amp/Secret-Service-confiscates-anti-Bush-drawings-by-1143383.php?client=safari
Basically people underestimate the amount of reach the Secret Service has when it comes to assassination threats
