Tumblr is my safe space where I’m not worried somebody is going to judge me for being too candid or deep. My life used to be normal but ever since cancer entered my family, I feel myself isolating more and feeling like I’m no longer relatable. Usually when you’re 29 you don’t have to deal with cancer in such a scary, close way.
My little sister got diagnosed with brain cancer in March 2025. My best friend, my light in every tunnel. She is one year into immunotherapy treatments and at this point the cancer has not come back. But when you are told it’s grade 4, life gets really weird and scary for a while. And people you thought were going to be around are suddenly nowhere to be found.
One thing I can say though is that I’m grateful for how precious life feels to me now, even more precious than I understood before. Going through tragedy brings you closer to humanity itself, to experiencing love and loss in a deeper way.
I hope to continue finding grace within all of this. To experience even the painful parts of life with love and gratitude instead of fear. To continue becoming more present, more loving, and more aware of what actually matters while some of my selfish tendencies slowly fall away. I think experiences like this force you to see the importance of the present moment in front of you.
I am endlessly blown away by my sister Abigail. She has exceeded what I thought was possible when it comes to strength and resilience. Her good attitude guides me and I will guide her too, and every day I’m reminded how lucky we are to be experiencing life together as sisters.
