British vodka production has been given an unexpected boost after this years perfect 'once in 20 years' harvest season.
William Chase, who founded the extremely successful brand Tyrrells and went on to found Chase Distillery, will double his production this year of his premium spirits thanks to a bumper potato season.
The distillery will produce 500,000 bottles this year, including their Marmalade Vodka and Elegant Gin, and also be able to lower their price point from £17.50 to £15.50 for 35cl. Chase, who is stocked by Waitrose, Tesco, John Lewis & Sainsbury, says that the 'Made in Britain' stamp helps his brand to do well in 26 countries around the world, particularly in America.
With a focus on the production, there is little budget left for marketing. The company employs just 30 people to operate the only potato distillery in the UK, and uses 300 potatoes to make just one small bottle.
