Sarah Baum

Currently studying Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. I have moved on from humorous work to abstract work. I love to take photographs of natural abstraction, which I take as I am doing my everyday tasks. But the work I really love to make is taking real things from the world and making them into abstract works by following rules. Some pieces I have worked on in the past have been from journeys and walks I have taken and I have set myself a rule for each drawing to create an abstract pattern. It's like a fun way to document.

DRAWING IS exhibition

through the process of drawing and giving myself rules I have created a series of abstract drawings beginning and expanding from the lines I walked on the 17th October.

My second attempt at a tape drawing/installation, i stuck to just black this time as i didn't like the red. i have included a pen drawing in this installation, as a starting point for the tape lines, so instead of just using the space to decide where the lines i go i am also using a drawing.

here i have tried to take my drawing into a different medium by using tape as a tool to draw. Still sticking to the idea of repeating lines, but the starting point is not a journey but the space itself and points and lines which are already in the space.

bonnington atrium exhibition, with 2 of my drawings displayed with other student works. My drawings here are some of which i have been working on. They are based around repetition of the line with the starting point of  a route in which is an everyday route i travel. after following this initial line until the page is full, it creates new lines where the points meet from other lines, i have then taken these lines as a starting point and repeated this line.
