Good morning, Italy!
Happy Daisy Day!
Crackin' the Crackers
Since finding out that a lot of different types of food just do not agree with me, I have started to have issues with bringing lunches/snacks to work. I came across these crackers and they are delicious! Take a look at the nutrition facts, you do not see any of those nutrients in your average cracker. I dip them in hummus and honestly, it is very filling. Healthy snack and a great alternative to your average cracker and cheese snack.
Try it out!
Do Not Be Fooled By Labels.
Recently I came across an article that changed the way I went grocery shopping. When I go grocery shopping, it feels like a game. The game is "how many labels are telling me one thing but mean another thing". This is a constant battle for me and now my grocery trips have gone from a 15-20 minute run through the store to about 1 hour of sifting through products and trying to figure which one is full of s***.
This article helped me figure out which labels are actually full of s***. Did you know "Free Run" actually doesn't mean what you think it means or "Hormone Free" only applies to Beef?
FREE-RUN: Guess what? All meat chickens are free-run (only egg-laying hens are caged), making this label completely meaningless on chicken breasts or nuggets. Of course, just because meat chickens are in an open barn doesn't mean they're not severely overcrowded, fed antibiotics and crappy slaughterhouse waste by-products. While unregulated, the term is still important on eggs; otherwise your eggs are laid by cruelly battery-caged hens.
HORMONE-FREE: All animals make hormones, so a more accurate term would be "raised with no added hormones." Chickens are never given hormones, so this term is only useful for beef.
