Evaluation for this project
The reason why I want to create an imaginative story for this FMP is because I want to challenge my abilities to create an unforgettable story that also shows my passion for 1930s animation. Throughout this project I intend to achieve to explore different styles of art but mostly old fashion also experimenting on different types of animation which helps me more to focus on little details of movement and how a frame by frame or cel animation works.
Throughout this project my main influence is an animator named Max Fleischer. Max Fleischer and his brother Dave Fleischer are the ones who invented the rotoscope and they also created their very own cartoon animation which I am very interested in exploring and experimenting on. Since Max Fleischer is my main influence, I have found one cartoon animation from their studio called Betty Boop Bimbo's Initiation which gave me an idea of creating a short mystery story which has many things to discover to teach people about the 1930s animation.
I done a lot of experimentation on hand drawn animation with acrylic paint, transparent paper, permanent marker, sewing, and digital animation. Experimenting these martial arts truly improved my skills which I enjoy learning about cel animation and frame by frame animation. Since I knew it would take me a month to do some animations that is why I took my idea from my inspiration and developed my story as I was doing the storyboard.
Looking back at what I want to achieve and that is learning how to do an old-style animation with a mystery story in which people will be involved, I believe that I have achieved my goals. I have learnt lots of key things about how to animate on digital and hand made by first sketching the animation to see if they are moving perfectly which will help me in the near future project of creating shorter stories.
Since I didn’t have time to design the abandoned house, I will continue on that after the deadline before the exhibition begins in 24th of June 2022.
