Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.

Once more does she take a moment of silence to claim her being, perusing her vast memory for any Otsutsuki that may have heard of her, spoke of her specifically, but she comes short. Not empty – though. “My being is not well known, as well known as you yourself upon first discovering me. Though, the entity that once was is always felt in inklings in the energy reserves if one is strong enough to peer between everything and nothing. If you are curious – that is so rare an occurrence it is nonexistent…” It was a very long and vague answer. Something she realizes after another moment of silence. Everything about her really was thought over, but considerations of others for details to better understand was always after the fact these days. It isn’t at all often she is spoken to.
“They do not know of me, no. Not even the late Kaguya was aware of me, even at my death. Perhaps at one time she did have a concept of my mother’s predecessors who interacted with the tree, but nothing substantial to seek out. I would be given enough reason to suspect, that if they did hear of me specifically, they would not find it lightly-put. I am quite protective of this planet, my home before this new life, so if world domination was plotted once more whilst in my presence – it will never come to fruition.”
It was a promise, a certainty. Even while they speak, the deity can feel the Otsutsuki meander not just outside of Earth’s atmosphere, but hiding away on the green planet. Sure, the humans who have located them and fought the few who came out of hiding were one thing, but if at all something out of human hands were brewing, it would be stopped. Mostly because humans are not ready to face the despot, they never have been even before this reincarnation. If they have humans capable of stopping a few Otsutsuki, it will be passed… For now.
“I should give my apologies, I have never been one to interact with humans, as I quite despise them. Nothing more than curiosities nowadays in their actions, but it lingers. Communication skills are the only asset I do not harbor in great scale.”
“Maybe it’s... probably for the better. I mean, those Otsutsuki bozos aren’t exactly the best guys around, and they probably would’ve attacked you, or... worse.” Sakura admittedly made a face at the prospect in some meager attempt at deflecting from the grim possibility of the Otsutsuki starting some new world war, but it made her wonder: would Hagoromo come around again to save their skins if it came to that? If Sasuke and Naruto weren’t strong enough to face such a threat? Such knowledge rattled the kunoichi to her bones, because she wasn’t about to pretend she had what it took to take down some conquering alien hellbent on making her world a barren wasteland. “And if I’m honest, the two people who could probably stand up to such a threat might not have what it takes any longer. I’d like to think I could stand alongside and fight with them, but... I don’t know. We had some pretty divine intervention the last time around...”
It was undoubtedly a troubling thought, but she wasn’t about to be presumptuous about something she, in reality, knew very little about. They had been searching for years for threats such as these, only for more Seijin to appear as if from thin air. It felt like all of humanity was living within a diorama and these cosmic beings were temperamental children ready to rise up and smash their way through all the cardboard and plastic as if it were nothing, and they’d just avoided the worst of it on sheer, dumb luck. But, whatever it could be called, at least they’d avoided the worst of it the first time around.
“Well, I guess I can’t really blame you. I mean, humans are pretty capable of some awful stuff, but... there’s a lot of good there, too. You can find people capable of doing things they might never have, probably aren’t cut out to do, but they do it, anyways. Or, there’s just those who live day by day, and maybe they don’t seem like they do much, but they’re kind to everyone they can’t be. And maybe this will seem totally pointless, but if you’re so dead-set on protecting this planet, you might as well stop being stubborn and learn a thing or two about its inhabitants.”
Back-sassing a cosmic entity, however depowered or overpowered she was, probably wasn’t the best idea, but Sakura did it with folded arms and un unflinching stare all the same. Sure, maybe she was in over her head, but it didn’t mean she was a coward.
“Apology accepted. Say, maybe you’ll make a friend with an ~abhorrent~ human, yet!”

Yamato smiled. He should have expected his words to be turned on him like that. He couldn’t get much past Sakura, and he really should have known better. “I suppose it does, yes.” He wanted to add that he thought some people were past help, past hope, but he held his tongue. It wasn’t that he knew Sakura would argue – vehemently – against that. It was more that he didn’t want to impart any negativity on this wonderful program she was starting. Especially since he mostly only believed that he was past help.
Her sudden anger both amused him for its familiarity, and touched him, for he knew it came from a place of love. How many times had he witnessed that ferocity turned on Naruto? He met her glare with ease, his smile never faltering even for a second. Unlike most of his smiles these days, this one was genuine. “Mm, you truly are a master at seeing through bullshit deflection, as you put it. You’ve had enough experience of it.”
For the likes of him and Kakashi, it was ingrained into them. Habits that were born so early and rooted so deeply that they would be impossible to break completely. But… he could try. He would try, if only because he could see how much it would mean to Sakura to feel like she had helped him. And who knows… maybe she would.
He closed his eyes briefly, as if pretending to consider her request, even though his mind was already made up. Then he opened them, gave a single nod. “Alright. But on one condition.” He fixed her with a look. “You let someone else help you.”
If anything, her sensei’s own resistance to getting help was practically a microcosm of what she’d faced just trying to get the therapy center through the conceptual stages with Ino. Despite Sakura and Ino’s backgrounds and who they were as Tsunade’s disciple and the incumbent head of the Yamanaka Clan, there had been immense skepticism that such a program would be useful at all. Chalking up any deficiencies in mental health as road blocks caused by a lack of self-discipline, or something as ridiculous as that. Sakura had almost been flabbergasted at their flippancy, but she hadn’t not expected it, either.
“I’ll be blunt, Yamato-taicho, but it’s not like I’d personally force you down on a couch here and now and be forced to spill the beans, but...” Her brow furrowed, but the unrelenting look hardly wavered. “We’re training loads of new staff, many who are quickly coming to qualify as therapists. And if you’d want to make this out of self-sacrifice, well... you could volunteer. That’s kinda up your alley, isn’t it?”
And it wasn’t like she liked the notion of that being the only reason he’d ever come for help, but Sakura wasn’t beyond understanding, or trying to see things from his perspective. Self-care felt selfish to many people, let alone shinobi who’d been trained to disregard themselves beyond the physical since they could practically walk. But, it wasn’t forever, and even old dogs could learn new tricks.
“Well, yeah, but I’ve been getting plenty of help! Ino, Tsunade-sama, Kakashi-sensei, Shizune-senpai, and everyone who’s been pitching in and joining our staff! I’m not exactly roughing it, you know!” Though the flare in Sakura’s temper bore a bit more of a temper than was really warranted, she couldn’t help how this venture made her a bit defensive. Even in the face of the people who were rooting her on the most. “So just... stop acting so tough and take your own advice, will you?”

He’d grown contemplative during this time of settlement following the end of the way. In the wake of oncoming peace, Haku had found himself contemplating his worth. With no anticipation of the next great battle, was there any sense of purpose in his life? There’s a distinct hollow feeling in the space between his scars when a familiar voice draws his attention.
“Sakura-San,” His features soften into something resembling fondness. “I suppose I was considering it but, I haven’t decided. Please, don’t allow me to get in your way.”
“You know... honing your mind is how you develop spiritual energy,” Sakura ventured with the beginnings of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips, coming within the Yuki’s proximity and planting herself on the turf near him. The kunoichi had to admit, it was an undoubtedly beautiful day, perfect for a bit of self-reflection. Not that she planned to unload girlish thoughts on Haku, but she could only imagine what thoughts turned in his mind.
“Ryo for your thoughts? I mean--if you want,” she amended quickly, flapping a hand in brief, jocund dismissal. “I mean, you’ve been through a lot, and... Well, what’re friends for?”

❛ tell me about it . . a small break now and then, would be nice. the only thing about working is . . getting paid at the end of it. ❜ hinata was surprised at her own self, that she even had some spare time to share. though, with how things are and how hectic it is, she was a bit stressed and need sometime to get hersellf well . . less stressed. never a good thing. the last thing she wants is to get ill from it. on her side, she mostly been heavily training and keeping up with that. for most, its a great way to let any stress out and her ? not so much. she had considered sakura to be someone she always looked up to and didn’t mind spending time with.
❛ o-oh~ i think i would love to check out those. sounds like fun. i wonder if i can even win a prize too . . ❜
“And don’t get me wrong, as much as I love helping people, having some peace and quiet is nice, too. Even if a festival isn’t exactly what I’d call ‘peaceful’,” Sakura replied with a chuckle, falling in stride of the younger kunoichi. As much as she loved spending time with people like Ino or Naruto, it was with Hinata’s sedated energies she felt more at ease around. Those two blondes were more for when she wanted to cause a commotion, anyways. What did set ease in her heart was knowing they had emerged from the worst the last war had thrown at them with some measure of their minds intact, which was surprising given how hellish those past few years had been. Sighing happily, it made the trek towards the local park the festival was using as a venue fairly peaceable.
“I bet you totally could! I mean, you’re a pro with the Byakugan, and you’ve probably got some neat tricks hidden up your sleeves, huh?”
of course he understood why akamaru was often on the receiving end of heaps of affection, he just did not understand why it wasn’t extended to him as frequently, too. after all, if there was anyone in the entire world whose cuteness could compare to that of akamaru’s, it was his! “ what about me?! am i invisible or something?! ” @shikkotsunin.
“Last I checked, people don’t usually like being treated like a dog,” Sakura simpered wryly at Kiba’s objections, but she imagined it had more to with the fact that she’d greeted Akamaru first and foremost. After all, she was mainly in the Inazuka compound to drop off the medicines his older sister, Hana, had requested not too long ago. “Unless you like skritches, too?” Alright, that was a tease, but she couldn’t help herself!

At his sensei’s command, Yamato released his teammates without a word. The first time he had done this, both of them had hit the ground face-first, having not expected their restraints to be removed so abruptly. This time, they were ready for it. Asuma landed first, plainly, and simply, feet touching the ground as if he hadn’t, moments ago, been hanging nearly upside down in the air.
Genma opted for something a little flashier, doing a little flip in the air before making a three-point landing on the ground. If there was anything that expressed their individual personalities more, Yamato didn’t know what it could be. Straightening up, Genma made a show of stretching his back and brushing off imaginary dirt from his clothes.
Asuma rolled his eyes. “Show off.” He muttered through a yawn. With only the slightest degree of reluctance, he began to mirror the stretches their sensei was leading them through. Yamato did the same with slightly more enthusiasm. Genma’s attempts were decidedly half-hearted.
“C'mon, sensei.” He whined, halfway through a stretch. “Give us something with more action. I’m falling asleep on my feet here.” He was easily the most vocal of the three and definitely acted as the team’s voice whenever possible. Thankfully, Asuma and Yamato seemed more than happy to let him do it. “You gotta ramp up the challenge or something, otherwise Sarutobi actually will be asleep.”
Sakura couldn’t help but laugh at the antics of her students, finding their honesty and frank personalities to be refreshing as opposed to some of the shinobi she encountered day by day, more often than not being sticklers for the rules who were about as dull as drying concrete or watching paint dry. Not that the Jonin really held it against her fellow comrades, but sometimes, their strict lack of expression made for boring compatriots.
Compared to the firecracker she and her own sensei, Tsunade, had been, anything else seemed positively dull. Which was why she was grateful the Sandaime had graced her with an interesting team instead of a bunch of stiffs who were like old men in the bodies of preteens. “Well, take it from me, but sometimes you have to start out a little boring. Sure, it might seem like nothing now, but the little things add up to things that will save your skins down the road. Which is why my training plan for today might be pretty intriguing.”
Perching her hand on her hip in a rather cavalier fashion, with the other did she jab her pointer finger in the direction of Hokage Rock where her promised target couldn’t quite be seen, but was located closely behind. “So, what do you three know about the Forest of Death? Just tell me what you know, and don’t worry too much about getting your facts straight,” she goaded with a gamey smile, teal eyes darting between the trio.
One thing was for certain, but if Yamato, Asuma, and Genma would become the shinobi they ultimately wanted to be, sometimes roughing it in one of the toughest places within the Land of Fire was just the place to do it. Sakuta still remembered how Tsunade used to dump her there for a weekend at a time with no supplies except the clothes on her back and her own mettle, something she was grateful, though... maybe she wouldn’t be quite as merciless with these three.
