first meeting sentence starters.
send one to have our muses meet for the first time.
“Sorry, were you just talking to me?”
“I think you dropped this.”
“You look lost. Need some help?”
“I don’t usually talk to strangers, but…”
“You’re sitting in my spot.”
“Whoa! Careful!”
“We’ve never met, right? You seem familiar.”
“Is that seat taken?”
“Sorry, I think I just spilled something on you.”
“You’re blocking the doorway.”
“Were you just staring at me?”
“Excuse me, do you know the time?”
“Wait — are you the person I’m supposed to meet?”
“I’ve been sent to find you.”
“Please don’t be alarmed, but I think we have the same bag.”
“Do you work here?”
“I’m fairly certain that’s mine.”
“You’ve got something on your face.”
“Sorry, I thought you were someone else.”
“Do you know the way to ___?”
“You’re hurt. Do you need help?”
“That’s a fine ___ (cloak/hat/book/etc.). Where did you get it?”
“This might sound strange, but can I hide behind you for a moment?”
“You look like you could use a friend.”
“I think your dog just stole my lunch.”
“Hey, you dropped your coin purse.”
“I think we’re stuck in here together.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to overhear, but…”
“Are you the new neighbor?”
“First time in town?”
“I’m not sure if this belongs to you, but…”
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I’ve been hearing a lot about you.”
“Do you mind if I join you?”
“I think you’re in the wrong place.”
“You seem… out of place.”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but are you following me?”
“That was a close call.”
“Not to alarm you, but someone’s watching you.”
“Mind if I walk with you?”
“You look like you’re in trouble.”
“Was that your doing back there?”
“You don’t look like you’re from around here.”
“That was impressive. How’d you manage it?”
“I’m guessing you’re not here by accident.”
“Do I want to know what just happened?”
“You might want to keep your voice down.”
“Is it always this strange around here?”
“I have a feeling we’re about to become acquainted whether we like it or not.”
“Looks like we’re in this together now.”
ℑt was quite a burden for the young Earl Phantomhive to attend a school of all places. However, there was a specific purpose behind it; he was to portray a student at such a prestigious institution to learn, despite already being well-versed in much of the material being presented, which was exhausting. He could hardly comprehend how his peers of the same age had not yet educated themselves on such basic subjects. Indeed, it seemed the education system must have been lacking.
Perhaps this was the reason he was discovered reading in the library. Despite the vast collection available, he struggled to find many literary works that piqued his interest. Consequently, he opted for two works by a well-known author, Oscar Wilde. These included his collection of poems published in 1882 and his latest piece from that very year, “The Decay of Lying”.
Although he appeared to be concentrating on the material in front of him, he was hardly focused, and it startled the young adolescent when a robed hand reached out to switch on the small lamp beside him. The voice that followed belonged to one of the prefects, inquiring about the amount of light (or lack thereof) that the new student seemed to be using.
‘ Ah! ’
Ciel looked at his books, then at the lamp, before returning his gaze to his senior to reply.
‘ I hadn’t really noticed. I suppose I had already adjusted to the lighting in here. ’
A single wide ocean-blue eye scrutinized the hunched figure before him. How peculiar it was for the quietest of the four prefects to show an interest in him.
‘ I… Don’t normally see you in the library. ’
The light helped brighten the page, and Violet quickly glanced at the text. Gregory recognised the writings of Wilde and turned a blind eye to it. Inwardly he thought it was too dark a choice of novel for a younger boy; but he supposed he also enjoyed reading things he wasn't 'supposed' to at that age.
"Perhaps, but you only seem to have the one working eye for now," he blanched a little at his own words, but held a steady rhythm to his speaking. He couldn't stand seeming unsure of himself, "you ought not to strain it so much."
Gregory nodded slightly at the observation, he didn't like coming to the library very often. But it was peaceful at the very least.
"A good number of Violet Wolf students are musicians and with longer pieces to learn and limited practice rooms; the hallways echo with their noise-- music. It's getting difficult to find reprieve that isn't simply being holed up in my room." He glanced around to see if any of the armchairs at the end of the aisles were free and gave a defeated sigh.
"It won't be so bad in a week when they have the basics of their sheet music memorised but for now its: 'play, expletive, laughter' ad nauseum."

ur lowkey one of my only hope of vi content right now….i’d love some hcs lol-
🖤oof that's sweet. but this old man's just gotten back to tumblr and ... i'll drop these in from time to time, so stress not, sweet anon. i have hundreds.
I know that his pre-err-incident panels are few and far between. But I feel like his posture is indicative of someone more hopeful. Pre-incident his body language is more open and his expression is neutral, as opposed to his constant state of gloom.
After all, he's a son of the wealthy/nobility/upper class who helped commit a crime and feels terribly guilty about it. What he finds the most unsettling, is that the remainder of the P4 seem to be just fine to act as if nothing has changed. Where Gregory's demeanour screams the echoes of doubt in others and guilt for himself.
I think he's depressed and struggling through his perception of himself. And probably struggles with being kind to others because his peers are doing just fine.. despite everything. It would be eye-opening to the once-naive Violet.
Another thing that makes me think that his more serious attitude is a recent development, is how Cheslock speaks to him as if he's expecting a different response. Constantly. When Cheslock looks to him expecting him to join in on a joke -- or even notice his efforts when they're forced to play cricket for the tournament. It's like the Gregory Violet he now interacts with gives disappointing reactions to what he had grown accustomed.
I could chalk it up to the two not knowing each other; but the prefects' drudges have to prove themselves in order to be picked over the year. So Cheslock should know what to expect and what sort of shenanigans would get a good reaction out of Gregory.

@ominasapphirus liked for a starter
His feet felt heavy and his neck ached with exhaustion - soon he'd be free from this school and its secrets. Gregory looked over the newest student. Something unfair tugged from within his ribs. Unearned jealousy.
The brightness that the younger lad seemed to approach things with -- coupled with his unfettered cheer and deftness of skill. Gregory's own sour attitude spoilt his eagerness to share guarded drops of wisdom. Instead, he simply spoke as he approached Phantomhive at the shared desks of the library. He pressed in the button for the desk's lamp illuminating the space a little more effectively.
The electric ceiling lighting was fine... but the ceilings were too high for them to be effective. Their installation seemed a vapid show of how quickly the school could advance. How ironic.
"Surely you weren't getting enough light from the ceiling fixtures?"
like for a starter ?

A smile crossed the artist's face for a half second, he thought a strange observation to make. Gregory tried to still his features, "Like an insect?"
