It is interesting to look at the two of them, who did not know their true relationship to each other and yet love and respect each other, despite their small disagreements from time to time. However, between these two diametrically opposite characters, there is a single point of commonality…. It is said that diamond and charcoal are composed of the same element. However, it is interesting that the attitude toward life of these two people, who are more different from each other than are diamond and charcoal, derives from this same way of comprehending reality.

this was among one of many (and i mean many) doujinshis i bought while in Japan and this one was particularly fascinating not just because it's beast skk flavor, but it had a pretty overarching plot going back to when they met at 15, to Dazai beginning to act strange because of finding the Book and learning of their other selves

it culminates in Chuuya pulling an uno-reverse and reversing Dazai dying because when they were 16 during Dragon's Head Conflict, Chuuya had somehow created a singularity fighting Shibusawa and he glimpsed memories of their other selves fighting Lovecraft, and had a vision of future beast!Dazai dying so he sought out the Book himself and rewrote Dazai's fate in it

and it's all got me 👀👀 because in a really roundabout way I can see how the artist got the idea of a singularity being created by Chuuya and Shibusawa, and maybe a time-space fuckery happening that let Chuuya have those visions, or maybe from the abilities Shibusawa's harvested conflicting with Chuuya's own
