I’m so MAD that I only just discovered The Holmwood Foundation podcast like a week before its season 2 kickstarter is over (and it ends in 29 hours now underfunded I CRY), because I’m absolutely OBSESSED and I would’ve been singing its praises to anyone who could tolerate my newest ravings. I haven’t been this obsessed about an audio drama since The Magnus Archives.

I have this crazy idea to do a drawing for every time Jeremy Larkin (my beloved) says “fuck”, which will keep me happily occupied for a very long time.

She's in the process of filing an extension on a restraining order but can't afford Lawyer Fees on her own. If you can throw a few dollars her way, I'd be eternally grateful. (But as mentioned above, be sure to click the box that lets you donate anonymously because harassers be harassing).

Hi, Daisy again.

I felt like I should explain this, since (hopefully) y'all haven't needed to get restraining orders.

It actually is a lot of money.

First, you need to pay to file it. The filing fee for mine, as it was a civil order and not domestic, was $175.

Then, it's process servers. The cops were incredibly unhelpful with serving the order, So I needed to pay for private process servers. I had.... god, it's been so long, maybe 4 or 5 hearings. Every ten days from end of July 2024 to end of September, you can do the math.

Every hearing required the order to be served again. And it was my responsibility to make sure the order got served, not the courts or the police, and it had to be served in person by a person legally authorized to serve papers and notarized. Private process servers aren't cheap. I'm hoping the cops will be more receptive this time around, but who knows.

And now, we come to the last expense- lawyers. The legal counsel a friend set me up with charges 300 an hour. The 2,000 Tal and y'all have helped raise buys me about 5-6 hours worth of my lawyers time spent on the case.

My fervent hope is that it's such a simple case he won't need to spend much more than that on it. I had over 200 pages of evidence in July 2024 (I ran out of ink printing it and had to go buy more, if that tells you anything.) and another 30 or 40 pages of evidence of restraining order violations since. It should be relatively easy to get renewed.

But I don't know for sure. Any donations will help me to afford the lawyer and to pay for any private process servers I may need or further filing costs.

So good news! 

My order has been renewed! I’m waiting on it being sent over, but it will allow me another year of protection.

Bad news: I just got the invoice for September- not even the final bill- and it’s 5,645 dollars.

Needless to say that’s a lot of money and I, as a disabled freelance artist, am quaking in my boots trying to decide how much overtime I’ll need to pull for the next six months to even think about paying it off. It’s far more than we had anticipated or were prepared for.

Tal has generously reopened the gofundme to help me raise some funds to pay this off. Any amount helps. I know the world is crazy and everyone is struggling right now, but if you happen to have a little extra you can spare to help someone out, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

This is a story about identity and self discovery, family loyalty and devotion, all wrapped around a nightmare of a road trip with a rejuvenating severed head, incredibly sincere Victorian ghosts, and an analogue recorder.
