I like that Supergirl says it’s okay to kill someone’s abuser so long as you don’t let the thirteen year old do it and I like that Supergirl says vengeance will not solve things but neither will allowing a cycle of violence to continue

Bittersweet memories. Wish we could go back to 2012-2019 Tumblr/Wattpad. I didn’t enjoy it enough.
Miss it so much.
I just love how Supergirl isn't really about the revenge or the dog or anything that goes on at all. Its about two grieving girls trying to keep going in diffrent ways and teaching each other how to survive with the weight of it all while also inspiring each other to be better people. Its about not letting your past overtake your future. Its about prioritizing yourself instead of being fuled by your trauma. Its about being good no matter what.
Look I don't think Supergirl (2026) is secretly a perfect masterpiece or anything (I personally thought it was like. a 6/10 fun time) but I do think it's wild that Tumblr isn't going crazy for it because this Kara is one coattailed suit away from being a Tumblr sexyman. she is the flawed messy female character people have supposedly been clamouring for. she's the popular archetype of a gruff self-destructive alcoholic middle-aged man begrudgingly having to look after a kid and growing fond of them but genderswapped and also 23. she's allowed to be visibly messy and kind of gross and her hair is constantly all over the place and she literally cries, screams, throws up, and pisses onscreen. she's caustic and mean and puts up an act of carelessness but has a heart of gold. she's heavily traumatised and coping with it terribly. if anything happens to her dog she will kill everyone in this room and then herself. she spends most of the movie in a trench coat and baggy band T-shirt. she gets into bar brawls and breaks a guy's hand. she is Going Through It 24/7 and looks the part. she stabs a guy in the throat. how is everyone else not obsessed with her.
Of course they don’t like Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. She’s a grown ass woman with zero love interests who spends the movie saving her dog, casually dismantling a sex trafficking ring while she’s at it, and preaching the importance of being good, not nice or smiley or cheerful but good. I for one adored the movie and I really hope I’ll get to see more of Alcock’s Supergirl she’s now my favorite iteration of her and I love her so dearly.
hey moot have u watched the new supergirl movie...

i’m seeing it this week !!!!!!! i’m so EXCITED. did you like it
OKAY I SAW IT
i fucking loved it. she is so badass. the motivation to preserve ruthye’s psyche and keep her pure was really so beautiful to me. that is what women do, they protect younger girls and try to foster their strength and purity as they grow into strong women. i loved how hard she tried.
and that she was willing to shoulder the burden for someone who deserved a second chance, that she was willing to kill, i felt was so poignant and so reflective of the female will. what i love so much about clark is how he always tries to find a way to avoid violence, but women don’t have that chance, do they? women have always struggled to manipulate situations in their favor because they do not have the power and the time. kara has to be more rough and she has to do things she may not want to or that she knows are dangerous because it’s how she preserves her power. and she is strong enough to know that even if she does these things, makes these choices, she is still a good person— hence, “you’re not nice but you’re kind, you’re not perfect but you’re good.” she does the best she can with what she’s got and arguably it’s the most wonderful thing about her. she can do anything even with the extra layer of bullshit to sift through.
her sacrifices were so incredibly noble just like supergirl in smallville and every kara back to the beginning of the franchise. i love supergirl. she IS a girl. she is emotional and fun and hungry for more. and she is beautiful and strong even when she is beat to shit because she just IS.
i think the new film was amazing it was beautifully shot and so funny and it is just ONE MORE REASON to love and support and admire women FOREVER
that is what i think!
(and i loved seeing my clarkie….. HE WAS SO CUTEEEEEEEE)
It fuckin bright man. I seepy.

"jason's username on ao3, istagram, tumblr and all the other platforms is jay.austen!" I say as i burn at the stake.
Everyone boos.
Then a voice from behind the crowd yells "how the fuck do you know?!"
It's jason todd himself.
Select all squares with Simon’s image. It's all the fault of Ben Lambert's selfie collage. I had a lot of fun drawing it :P
And a micromeme with north at the end wouldn't hurt
