Direct Response Copywriting vs Long Form Copywriting
There are several different types of sales copy but today I am going to be talking about direct response and long form. You have seen both of these types of copy and probably a lot more often than you might think. When I compare these please keep in mind I am only talking about print copy, not audio or video. Direct response copy is a great type of copy to use in the direct mail marketing industry. if you are trying to get a sell right away and there’s no time to nurture your lead. Some could consider it a hard sale and it kinda is. The objective is to get the person reading to become stimulated enough to want to buy right away. So you will see a call to action that looks a little like this, “act now because supplies are limited”, “call now, while we still have stock” etc… Long form sales copy is a little different. While it might have calls to action, it’s not nearly as agressive as direct response. Long form focuses more on educating the person on the products, services, features and benefits which is why it has it’s name. Many people are scared to use this type of copy because it goes on for several pages and almost seems like it’s overwhelming. The idea is that you supply and educate the lead with as much information as possible just in case the reader has an objection. That’s it for today but visit again for our next blog.
