Summary: After a long-winded day and barb taking away her genius kid, ava was left with no one to read Michelle O's book to her, that was until she came home to you, met with dinner, a bath and her own personal audible subscription.
Warnings: just general domestic fluff, based off of season 1 episode 4 called New tech, established relationship, cooking, bathing, ava is a softy and a dork (she was storm and has a bunch of other refs like that, argue with a wall), i love her sm <33

Today had been one heck of a day for Ava. First, she had to get up early to do a staff meeting about the new tablets for some new reading software that the district was mandating. But with some luck, the program worked or so she thought and she had will, one of barbs students, put on an assembly by reading from Jack and Jill, but why not get him to read something for her? And so after she gave Barb the book she wanted, the truth came out that Barb had lied, leaving ava with no one to read Michelle O's book to her. She then found out that the tablets were for the penal system and had to return them (sell them), over all, it was a fucking roller coaster of a day.
Coming home, she sighed, taking off her bag and slipping out of her heels, she padded further into your shared apartment, smiling when she saw you in the kitchen, humming to some music as you moved with a practised ease, sleeves rolled up as you stir the food you were making, the warm smell wafting toward her. She approaches you silently, snaking her arms around your middle, her chin resting on your shoulder. You turn to face her, taking out your earphones and setting them on the counter, giving all your attention as you see the tired smile on her face, and you stroke her hair. "Hey you...didn't hear you come in, how was work? Interesting, I presume." "Mhm, that's putting it mildly. Barb owes me an audible subscription."
You laugh softly at that, your free arm encircling her waist. "Oh really? Why's that, baby?" "She took away her kid genius. " "And let me guess, you had him reading to you?" "Obviously- What's the point of having a brainiac- mutant kid if he can't read." "Mutant?" "Yeah- like X-men-" "You're such a dork, baby." She rolls her eyes and detangles from your arms, sitting on the counter with a sigh. "I am not a dork, I just have good taste." "I know...you're still my dork, though." "damn right I am."
The night continues comfortably as you eat dinner, listening to her ramble about abbott, from how annoying she finds janine to jokes about the kids. Eventually you finish eating, after setting the plates in the sink to soak, you lead her to the bathroom, turning the lights off as you run her a bath, checking that the water is perfectly warm for her. She graciously takes your hand as she gets in, her bare skin hitting the water as she finally relaxes for the day.
You gently wash her body, her eyes closed as the soapy water runs off her skin. The scent of lavender and honey immersing the room. After washing her fully, you stand up, letting her decompress, "Hey baby? Where's your book?" Her eyes open, turning her head to look at you, brows knitted together in confusion. "In my bag, why?" You smile softly, a hint of mischief in it. "No reason, darling." You slip out of the room, padding out to the entrance of the apartment, where she had hung up her handbag, you retrieve Michelle O's becoming from it and return to the bathroom.
Perching on the side of the bath, she watches you with curiosity as you begin reading it to her. Her face softens, laying her head on your thigh, closing her eyes once again, a comfort setting over the two of you, gently stroking her hair as you continue to read for her. Your fingers threading through her dark strands, an intimate blanket settling over you both. Time passing slowly with nothing but the soft sound of your voice.
Melissa loves barb so much that even though she was annoyed barb was talking through the entire movie she still didnt want her to leave. They are wives your honor give me 15 more seasons of them.
she was her nonna’s favorite. and nonna was also her favorite relative. she loved to listen to her grandma tell stories, love to cook with her and just spend time together.
due to her having an insane amount of siblings, she didn’t have much personal space. she shared her room with three of her sisters almost until she was old enough to leave the house.
her nonna called her “topolina” (little mouse) and she loves that word
she loved stray animals so much. always wanted to take one home and she would beg her parents when she was little. but with time, and too many siblings at home, she realized it would be more of a hell.
i think she picked up smoking around 13. when her father was always out late “at work" and mother was either drinking or out cold on the couch. she would either steal some from her mother's purse or get it from her older brothers.
i just know she loved the muppet show so bad. the voice acting the stupid characters, the weird humour. it was everything she could ask for.
didn't have much time to watch tv during the day but after all her siblings went to sleep, she'd sneak out and watch the late night shows while sitting at the stairs.
played games like hopscotch, the floor is lava and duck duck goose outside with her friends.
this girl rocked math. period. she always understood topics way before her classmates and ended up getting bored. but when it came to anything that had to do with reading, she fell behind and felt terrible cause of it.
one day her father came home with all different colors of the care bears and gave it to all the kids (doesn't matter how old they were) melissa thought it was a bit suspicious but ended up absolutely owning the one with the heart on its stomach.
they had a door with everyone's heights marked every year!! hers was marked with red for sure
one thing she loved more than firefighters was the fire itself. yes she wanted to become a firefighter and take the fires out but she also loved watching it. the open flames, burning and toppling onto each other in a never ending way.
melissa liked organizing toys and putting them in drawers. it was half her duty to tidy up after everyone but she enjoyed doing this too, how the room would look untouched and clean once each toy was put into place.
kristin marie was the closest sister she had to her age. they always gossiped about school and family drama on saturday nights when they were supposed to be sleeping.
oh she loved halloween. the treats were a bonus, she just loved showing off her costume.
though she wasn't the biggest christian, she always went to church with her family on sunday's and other important days.
